The food and farm tour Waipa offers is an amazing way to learn about Hawaiian food, plants, and culture. I learned many things and ate tastey food, but the best part was the energy of the morning. The guides were truthful about the struggles the island has and does face due to the legacy of colonialism and aspects of modern tourism, but the existence of the tour is an an encouragement for a better, more sustainable way, both in regard to food systems and tourism.
