I love visiting DC and have even more of an appreciation for the location as I've gotten older. The neighborhoods are reminiscent of the ever-transforming neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens in NY. They are very trendy and you see a lot of people out and about.
The food trucks are serious and the restaurants are plentiful and offer a variety of cuisine and food items that are so inventive.
I alway try to stop by Horace & Dickies seafood spot for their huge Fried Fish Sandwiches as well as Ben's Chili Bowl for their awesome Chili Dogs, topped with their famous spicy chili. If I have the time, I use Yelp to find new spots like, Wicked Waffle and their ridiculous waffle sandwiches.
We had a slew of plans during my last visit which was kind of short so I was not able to dine out at as many places as I wanted but I definitely got a chance to try some.
Aside from the food, the architecture and history that resonates all over the capital is monumental. You can hang out right outside the gate of the White House; we saw skaters playing street hockey, skateboarders, family reunions and tons of tourists that are jus taking in the sights.
A weekend visit can afford you an opportunity to drive in and park and just walk around all day long without boredom. read more
