Whenever I find myself back in my old stomping grounds of Florida, I have a short list of places I want to pick up food... because I can't find them in Vegas. WaWa is definitely on that list.
Wife and I ran to the location close to my sister's house to grab a quick lunch. As usual, I was not disappointed. I picked up a12 inch brisket sub with lettuce, tomato, and Parmesan cheese. Skipped the mustard and glad I did. Brisket didn't taste dry at all. Sub was really good - meat, bread, and veggies always taste fresh. Brisket is a limited time thing but really recommend getting while they have it. I always get the wheat bread since it's made fresh in store. I'll probably catch some flak from other Yelpers over this, but I might actually prefer WaWa subs over Publix subs - especially if you take Publix's Chicken Tender sub out of the running.
I also grabbed a couple fun bags of chips. Love that they have Zapp's and some brands from the northeast that you don't usually find in FL... or out in Vegas for that matter - so I got some Zapp hot chips and Utz dill chips (yum). Also grabbed a fancy coffee so I wouldn't be dragging the rest of the day. Coffee is reasonably priced and they change it out pretty regularly.
My wife doesn't like bread, so she did a special request of a few meats over lettuce. Staff had no problem accommodating, which is really impressive for a convenience store like WaWa. My sub also came out reasonably quick, and the person at checkout was polite and efficient.
Weather was nice so we sat at the metal tables outside. Only problem is Mr. Wasp wanted to follow us from table to table - he didn't quite understand that WaWa food is for humans, not insects. So we had to pack up and eat the rest at home. Since we had to get gas, I'll also mention that the pumps seem clean and orderly. Inside seems pretty well kept also. read more
