Another of my reviews for Manitowoc area parks. Westfield is 5.09 acres pretty much in the center of Manitowoc. There is a softball field, a small playground, open areas and a fenced basketball court. There is also a concession building with bathrooms. The building and ball field are available for rent through the Parks Department. The number to call to rent the field is (920) 686-3060. A liitle history for ya'll. When I was a lad, the city used to flood the field in the winter to form one giant skating rink. After the lights were turned off at 2200 hrs, teenage boys and girls would chase each other around. We all learned it was tough to cop a feel when you had 5 layers of clothing on. Alas the city no longer does this due to liability lawyers and peoples' disinterest in physical exercise. Today it is still a nice urban park. It is in a safe neighborhood in a safe city. I've had some vicious pick-up basketball games there. There are open areas for picnicking and just lolling about. The playground is heavily padded with wood chips. So you don't have to worry about your children playing on the swings and playground equipment...too much. Not much to add. Oh yeah, dogs are allowed, just pick up their poop. read more
