For a town of its size, the theater community in Willits has always been thriving. The WCT was the saving grace for a faggy art-kid like me growing up in a rural cow-town like Willits. Where else would my friends and I have the opportunity to perform Monty Python sketches live onstage, rock out to Rolling Stones covers, or watch original productions written, directed and managed by our peers (oh the brief and blinding genius that was "Stickfinder"), as well as classics such as "Arms and the Man" or "All in the Timing" staged in an intimate, 75 seat Jewel Box theater?
The WCT is a community organization of volunteers who stage plays for the love of the craft and the performance. The five-star review shouldn't indicate any semblance to professional theater...this is community theater, folks. BUT. As long as you know what you're getting into when it comes to community theater, then, yes, WCT really is "as good as it gets." read more
