From Sasha's review
Aug 7, 2023
Wow. Just wow. I've never left a review before but there's a first time for everything. This company was suggested to someone in a Facebook group and I decided to give them a shot because they seemed legit and I wanted to support a Black owned small business. I've never used a cleaning service before because of affordability and feeling uncomfortable with people in my home who I don't know. It's not that I think anyone will steal or damage something; my home is just my safe space and anyone - cleaners, plumbers, electricians, anyone of service - makes me feel uneasy in my space. But I'm a mom of two young children, a full-time college student, and my husband works long shifts. It's just impossible to keep up with everything and I decided getting a cleaning service would help my sanity. My first experience was a massive strikeout. I got the deep clean package that was recommended before starting bi- weekly service. It started out pretty well. The two cleaners were very nice and didn't seemed phased that we were trying to get ready to head out for the morning so they could do their thing without chaos. They started around 9:00 and we were out the door by around 9:45. We came back at 12:30 and they were unsurprisingly still working. Later, the owner, Stephanie, arrived and was apparently checking behind the cleaners. I don't remember exactly but I think it was around 2:30 when they finished up and left. Stephanie told me to take a look around and they would call the next day to follow-up. About an hour later I started looking around and realized just how much was skipped over. I'm not saying they intentionally skipped areas but they were missed nonetheless. I took photos. I took lots and lots of photos. When I hadn't heard from anyone the next day by 1:30, I called. I explained that I had expected a follow-up call and thought I'd call just in case they had forgotten. I explained that I had found several areas that weren't completely cleaned and some large areas that looked to be skipped over completely. I said I had photos and they asked that I text some. I texted about 12 out of 40. They said they'd call back about sending the cleaners back out. Stephanie called a few minutes later saying that she heard I wasn't happy and asked for detailed information. I explained that there were areas in my master bath that weren't cleaned at all, doors that clearly hadn't been wiped down at all, a thick row of dust on the top ledge of my windows, the eating portion of my kitchen had dust and cobwebs all over the walls and items on the wall, and there were cobwebs still in the corners of the ceilings. I said it just looked like corners had been cut and she said, "I know my staff and they don't cut corners." She was clearly defensive about my issues with the work that was done. She said they would come back out the next morning and to make sure I check their work before they leave. Despite the inconvenience of them coming back the next morning, I agreed. The next morning, about 5 minutes before they were to arrive, I decided to test something out. The baseboards in part of my kitchen were covered with grime. I had asked about it before they left and Stephanie said the cleaners tried to clean it but the grime wouldn't come off. So, that morning before their second arrival, I decided to see if they were right. Y'all? I cleaned that entire area to its original white state in 4 minutes with a few Clorox wipes and just a little bit of elbow grease. I was livid. Not only did they just flat-out not clean my house in its entirety, but they lied to my face about it. I called and told the woman who helps with scheduling that I got that area clean in just a few minutes and I'd rather do the job myself than have them cut corners and lie to my face about it. They were officially untrustworthy and I didn't want to upend my day to have them back in my house. It also said plenty that the OWNER did a check of the work and missed all of that stuff. It's been 9 days since that first cleaning attempt and I haven't heard a single word from Stephanie - not an acknowledgement of the photos I sent, the lie about the baseboards they claimed they couldn't clean, or the $440 I shelled out for a deep clean that didn't happen. I don't have that kind of money to just toss away. But she definitely doesn't seem to care about taking responsibility, apologizing, and/or refunding part of my payment to make up for their negligence. I guess we all have different definitions of "deep clean." read more
