Generally, I steer clear of writing negative reviews, preferring to stick to places with good reviews already. Unfortunately, this spot turned out to be a major letdown for me, all because of an Instagram influencer's glowing recommendation.
I swung by on a weekday during lunch, expecting some top-notch dim sum.
Surprisingly, the place wasn't too busy, and we could pretty much choose our own seats. We dove into ordering classic dim sum items, although they were missing some standard ones like steamed beef meatballs. Here's the lowdown on my experience:
Water chestnut cake - 4/5, I enjoyed this one. Lightly sweet with real water chestnut inside.
Egg pork porridge - 3.5/5, pretty straightforward.
Shiu Mai with shrimp - 3/5, meaty but lacking in visible shrimp. The flavor was SO-SO.
Chicken feet - 2.5/5, decent texture but lacked flavor.
Spare ribs with black beans - 2/5, not fresh, tough meat, and too big of a piece, so the flavor didn't come through.
Beef rice roll - 0/5, hands down the worst I've had. Chewy rice wrap, bland beef inside, and an off-putting chemical taste (maybe dish soap?).
Overall, the food was a major letdown, and I won't be returning. I'm hoping this was just an off day for them. On a positive note, the service was good; the waitress checked on us frequently. read more
