Smooth and safe drive despite all the construction on the Kennedy and we arrived on time. Driver helped unload and made sure we had everything. They took CC through their phone app with a tap and I got an emailed receipt. I also booked them coming back and told them we needed the same setup. Sal was responsive and made sure the driver was there. Our flight was delayed but the driver was still there. Same charge and great driver with the car seats strapped in by the fire department. They were rock solid.

Taxi rate calculators estimated $7-$9 for the ride, so I expected similar cost. We the called back to confirm a car on the way, they took payment. To my surprise it was $36. A second surprise came when the car picking me up was an Uber. So apparently, they used my $36 to book me an $8 Uber ride. The Uber driver was also surprised.

Not interested in putting up with the cold. Especially since I was wearing sandals. Kim called the cab and said to me afterwards - "I've never had a cab company be so polite." We laughed, but I thought nothing of it. Almost to the minute of the estimate, the cab pulls up. A pleasant young guy pulls up and takes my directions home. I have spent a lot of time in the loop grabbing cabs. I'm annoyed by several things about cabs. Here are the ones that I can't stand. 1. The guy that barely speaks English and spends his entire time in the cab on his blue tooth. 2. The reformed alcoholic that wants to tell me about Bill W incessantly. God bless, you sir. I'm glad you are taking control of your life. But stop with the incessant chatter. 3. The guy that lives alone, isn't married, plays Dungeons and Dragons online from 1am to 5 am, sleeps from 6 am to noon, and drives cabs during the day. 4. Bill Murray from Stripes, who just finished a whole bottle of cough syrup. He's dropping me off and then speeding home to his 1980s wife to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle and do ten pushups with Eagan from Ghostbusters. 5. Another horrible experience is the cab company that is "too busy" to come get you. ETA, 10 minutes. At 30 minutes, you're waiting outside the bar/restaurant, no cab. You've been mugged. You can't pay the cab when he/she shows up. Not good. Fox River Taxi is the first cab company that has none of these hang ups. A young man picked me up, on time, cab immaculately clean, gps on the window in the event that I know the name of where I'm going, but not the exact address; didn't annoy me with incessantly conversation, but was attentive. On the morning of my very early pick-up, I had scheduled 5am but it ended up being about 5:15 am as the driver had issues finding my office. I ended up walking to the main street to help him in finding me. He played classical music on the way there which in turn made me feel classy. He also chatted quite a bit which I can appreciate most of the time but for whatever reason that morning, I just wanted to kind of zone out in my solitude. The dispatcher assured me that they would be there. After waiting ten minutes past the pick up time I requested, I called the dispatcher back. He seemed frazzled and confused as to what I was talking about. Then he quickly said not to worry, someone would be there (Now I was worried because my train was leaving in ten minutes....). Five more minutes go by, and an unmarked car skids into my driveway. The driver rolls down the window and yells for me to get in. He also yells at me to leave y luggage on the driveway. When I get into the backseat there is already an elderly man in it (smoking a cigar). The driver instructs the elderly man to get out of the car and put my suitcase in the trunk. The driver tells me that he "is the owner of the company" and "..we have a new driver who got confused about your pick up". He proceeds to speed me to the train station. This experience was horrible and I will never call this unprofessional "company" again. You shouldn't either.
