We originally found out about this company when we bought our Casper mattress. Casper pays to have 1-800-GOT-JUNK dispose of your old mattress. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to book a same day appointment on the weekend. The two men who came to pick up our old mattress were friendly, helpful and professional. Fast forward 3 months and we're trying to get out of a storage unit with large items in it that we've decided we just want to get rid of. We decided to contact 1-800-GOT-JUNK and we're so glad we did. We waited until the very last day when we had to get out of our storage unit within 4 hours and once again, we were able to book an appointment same day. They were prompt (arriving earlier than we did), friendly and helpful (even remembered us from the last pick up). They even swept out our empty storage unit for us so it was clean and ready for inspection before we vacated. I had to use 1-800-Got-Junk five times in the last few months to help my mom move out of her apartment. Each two-person team I worked with was professional, friendly and hard working. Their systems for online scheduling, communicating with customers on the day of the move, taking credit card payment and emailed receipts all work well. A team member reviewed what I had to haul away with me and gave me a verbal estimate, then reviewed the estimate with me at the end of the job before writing up the bill. They reserve the right to charge extra for dense items (books, papers) or "bedload" items such as large potted plants. They are also willing to offer discounts for repeat customers. If you're on a tight timeframe, be careful to schedule the appointment for an earlier time of day and be very clear about the volume of material you need to have hauled away. Each of my pickups was delayed at least once for various reasons: switching to a different crew, the crew ran into traffic on the freeway, the truck broke down, and/or the crew needed to unload the truck before coming to my pickup site. Crews are dispatched across Southern California, and sometimes asked to do two jobs as far apart as Corona and Murietta in the same time window. Late summer seems to be the busiest time of the year and crews work from early morning until late into the night. For my last pickup I was on a tight deadline, so I called the team repeatedly to get their ETA. They usually answered promptly and if not, I could call the 1-800 number and have the dispatcher leave a message. Delays are inevitable given the wide range of things that 1-800-Got-Junk promises to pick up, the variety of customers (private individuals, small businesses and even grocery store chains), and the stresses that high demand times of the year place on their limited staffing and truck availability. The people who work for 1-800-Got-Junk are aware of the limitations and seem to do their best to overcome them. The gentleman that went to the house were extremely nice-however, I called their hotline prior to my appointment regarding the payment process. I was advised that I get an invoice which works out since I live in NYC and was doing this for my mom. When they arrived they advised that they only took payments in person. Clearly that didn't work out. They need to communicate the correct information because I was not expecting my mom to have almost $600 on her to pay. read more

What an AWESOME bunch of guys! They confirmed the appointment. They came on time. They had a great attitude - despite the rain. They hauled all the junk (except fire extinguishers, which they can't haul). THEY SWEPT UP after! I am so disappointed with this company. Our parents passed and we had a house full off furniture dishes clothes etc. we wanted to donate as much as possible and then trash the remaining. We were told that this company would pick up all items. Those item that could be used would be donated to either Salvation Army or habitat for humanity. We were also told we could get a receipt for these donations. We were thrilled this was possible and hired the company. Well don't believe what they say. The drivers did not bring anything to wrap and pack glassware etc. I had to supply them with boxes and bags. Then we could hear things breaking as they bagged them. This leads me to believe they junk everything. I have not received any donation receipt yet and this service was done weeks ago. It's hard enough losing your parents but then when you see people handling your parents items so carelessly and with little regard it's very upsetting. I did take a survey after and indicated I would like to be contacted but as seems to be par for them I haven't heard a word. Bottom line if you want a company to pick up and trash stuff go for it this company will do it. But don't believe that they will pack and donate or handle any items of value with care. It didn't happen. Once they are done and paid you don't hear anything back. read more

The second time the mover was a little less respectful and was was trying to charge me more to remove less of my items. I paid the cost but I left a bad review.
