We hired them to haul some construction debris. We didn't realize how expensive it would be. For 1 1/4 bed loads of a pickup truck, they charged $1018! This comes to $749 per bed volume. We failed to do price comparisons, unfortunately. If we had, we would have realized there were plenty of people who haul for much less, as little as $155/bed volume of a pickup. It was a total rip off, but our fault in that sense for not looking around first. We could also have rented a truck and hauled it to the dump ourselves for a nominal amount of money. Live and learn. Hell, Milwaukee's Treasurer, Spencer Cogg was quick to get in touch with me when I have asked verses this chicken shit thieving company! Don't ever use these guys. They come to your house with a tiny dumpster truck and overcharge for carting your stuff away. They don't listen to directions despite asking you before they get started for directions/preferences! It was a waste of breath, because they did what they were going to do which was steal! Steal! Steal! You folks are better off renting a U-Haul to take your own stuff to the dump. We are moving after living in the same place for 21 years. You could imagine we have accumulated a bunch of stuff! We filled out a form online and when they come, they look at your stuff and estimate how much it will cost. It all depends how much of the truck you fill up. We had a fridge, metal hutch, a propane grill, and stuff in the basement we needed gone. The price was $400 which isn't bad for the amount of stuff they took. I had one couch and one chair for removal. As they have a policy of refusing to provide quotes, I had absolutely zero idea of what would be charged. Upon arrival, they quoted well over $300 for a 15 minute job. I objected, and while they came down a bit, the pr was still obscene. 15 minutes later they left, and I'll NEVER use that service again. My actual move , which took 4 and 1/2 hours was about a little more than double that. I could have rented a uhaul and a few young ad for half of what they charged. Which is what I'll do next time and recommend to everyone to do anything you can to avoid these rip off art. Wish I could have a do over. Let me be clear. I've used this service in FIVE (now six) states across the nation. In all but this one (Wisconsin), they have been efficient if nothing else. I've had issues with price, I've had issues with rude reps, I've had issues with customer service. But I've never - EVER - had an issue with getting the service booked. It's always been, I book a time, they show up (or want to) EARLY. Slots are always available, minimum two per time interval. I've even had jobs where one guy showed up because the other guy called in sick ("hey, I still need to get paid") and got it done in record time with my assistance. Here? They're always out of same-day service, frequently out of next-day service. And now that I've gotten the service done, I understand why, and why this is a huge issue that is easily resolved. My job was no more than 15 minutes for two efficient guys (and in every other state, it's two guys), smallest junk haul I've ever done. This is under the assumption of a fairly good sized truck. Just some empty boxes, packing material, recyclables and a couple of trash bags. Nothing heavy, easily broken down stuff. First of all, I booked a time slot on this past Friday, and got a call that "...this job is going to take us all day, but we can get you in tomorrow". That has NEVER happened. Ever. So that threw off my other plans. Got it booked today, but saw that on Sunday, all of the Monday slots except the morning were booked. NEVER has happened before. THREE guys showed up. THREE. For a 15-minute job of empty boxes. Inefficiency #1 - too many guys based on the job. (More on this later) Their truck was easily half the size of the ones I'm used to seeing in every other state. Inefficiency #2 - trucks too small (forces multiple trips to drop off instead of doubling up jobs for each truck). In fact, in Nevada, I did a full house cleanout and they fit it all in ONE truck - we're talking mattresses, treadmill, workout equipment, significant amounts of trash, appliances, etc. Here, the boxes could have fit in a regular Budget rental van with room to spare. There wasn't a lot. They (THREE guys with me helping) took almost exactly 15 minutes to get the stuff out of the unit. Then, they took an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes to load the stuff into the truck. Inefficiency #3 - they were NOT working effectively to optimize time based on the job. And I can't say for sure, but fairly certain they don't have a significant fleet. Which would explain the lack of slots. If so, that's inefficiency #4 - failure to keep the fleet up. Unfortunately, none of the local competition even bothered replying. So it's not specific to them, it seems to be endemic to the area. Someone who wants to make a lot of money really needs to set up a competitor and show how it should be done. read more

I've used this service 4 times now and would highly recommend it. It's a bit on the pricier side but worth it. They have been on time, incredibly polite, and very fast each time. They also work really hard to jam as much stuff into a truck as possible. On my last pick up Trent & Nick filled the entire truck in under 30 minutes and had almost twice as much stuff packed in there as I thought they were going to be able to fit. Online appointment was 12 pm to 2:30 pm time range. They called at 1:30 & said they were still coming but maybe closer to 3 pm. The first truck with two guys arrived at 3 pm. They surveyed what they were taking & quoted $349; $368 at the most. Taking apart the weight set was a chore so a 2nd truck & 3rd guy arrived to help. They were here 90 minutes. Very friendly. I am willing to pay money to get rid of the stuff. 5 pm came and went and nobody showed up or called me. Really had a great experience with this company. Online scheduling was easy. They came within the time slot that they were scheduled. The four young men were courteous and respectful. I specifically requested they empty the garbage bins and take the trash by the street. When I returned I found a mess of pieces left on my front grass and sidewalk. They also didn't empty my garbage bins. I called and complained and they sent out a crew to empty the two garbage bins and then charged me over 100 just for that. It's a great service, but I felt it was overly priced. I understand that convenience is a huge part of it, but I had a couch, arm chair and small bookshelf moved and it was $300+. I agreed to it because I was moving the next day, but felt it was a bit overpriced. Great, friendly employees though! They helped out a lot. Not sure if this is the office that serviced us, but add us to the growing list of those "duped" by 1-800-GOT-JUNK. We have not used their service in the past and naturally, as the biggest name in junk removal, they were the first service I called. A courteous voice greeted me and explained the minimum price of $119. I explained I had about a van's worth of stuff, but a lot of it was brooms, mops, wooden chairs, etc. She then explained that after that base price of $119, prices increase "incrementally and marginally" with more stuff, but would not say what those increases were since they can't give an estimate without seeing what needs to be taken away. That's understandable, I reasoned. But, I also thought: Well, if it's $119 to start and it goes up incrementally and marginally, even if we were to double or triple the haul, I'd be okay with paying, say, $300 even $350 to clear all the stuff, so I gathered more things for them to take away. Well, the guys arrived and after looking at the stuff they informed us the $119 only covers 1/6th of a truck--which is basically a REFRIGERATOR'S worth of junk and If I wanted everything hauled away, it would cost $699! We were absolutely floored and my wife and I told them we were not paying that amount. The man offered to put me on the phone with a manager to work this out (if you read other Yelp reviews, you'll see a pattern). Then, it hit me: that is precisely their business model! Even though they explained there is absolutely no obligation to use their service when their guys show up, they know most people will give in and pay the price since people only want to be rid of their junk. And, if they were like us, we piled our stuff in our garage, so we can't use our garage since they only took $240 dollars worth of stuff (we agreed to increase the amount of junk to take because, again, they had us over a barrel). I communicated our extreme disappointment in a follow-up call with a rep and they reassured they will get back to me in a couple days. We'll see how the company responds. In the meantime, I am researching other providers and am already seeing how much less expensive other services are. We used this service two years ago before our move. The individuals who showed up gave an estimate and then promptly asked to use our restroom. While in our restroom they pilfered our medicine cabinet and stole hundreds of dollars of prescription pain medication from us. We did file a police report. We had been promised a refund by this company and it never came. My advice to you if you use this service is to never let them out of your sight. If they have to go P in the bushes so be it. UPDATE.. Soooooo yes 1800 got junk did reach out, but even though they told us we would get a refund at the time they now say nope, too bad, no refund. Lesson learned never trust anyone in your house. They encouraged my husband to have me alter my review, so here is my revision. They said they fired the one individual but not the other but that person left on their own accord. DeAnte and Mike came to remove bunch of assorted stuff from my garage. I had an old gas stove, a microwave, carpeting, a wood pallet, glass shower doors, just a whole bunch of stuff. I did not hear from them within my appointment window and called the 800 number. I was told the driver would be called and that the drive would then call me with an ETA. I did not receive a call from the driver but they showed up about an hour after they were supposed to arrive. They quickly loaded up the stuff, made sure I knew that I could tip them on their phone app. They did not clean up the floor and left a few bits and pieces on the floor. I would use them again because I like that the items are donated or recycled if possible and it saved me a lot of work. read more

This company is very familiar (and comfortable!) with the chaos that often comes with big transitions, family emergencies, etc. The crew worked quickly and efficiently, and all members were polite and professional with the residents at my Mom's senior apartment complex. A corporate customer experience rep called me and listened to what happened, it's amazing how 1 person can change the perception of an entire company. Antonija is a shining representative of 1-800-got-junk and they should be happy to have her. Why not 4 or 5 stars? Unfortunately there are still local area shortcomings. Aside from pricing confusion, the employees that came to my appointment were efficient and professional. I called at around noon on a Saturday and they gave me a ballpark estimate over the phone. They charge by how much of truck is filled up and I gave them a bulk estimate of what I thought I had (between half a truck and a full truck). They were there within 3 hours (exactly when they told me they would be), told me they could fit it in under one truck (after seeing it) and got to work after I agreed. They were very professional, very friendly and got the stuff packed up and moved out for me within an hour. It was such a huge relief to me because I've got a new tenant moving in on the first of the month and I needed it cleared out in a hurry. This company was hired to empty a 3 bedroom townhouse. Three trucks were paid for, and the employees were specifically told to empty the junk from the basement. Our maintenance staff was not present when the trucks left the property after they supposedly filled the trucks, and basement is still full of junk! Their motto "All you have to do is point" obviously doesn't work - they were clearly instructed regarding what "junk" needed to be removed, and didn't do it. Unless you have the time and patience to wait all day for them to pick up your junk then they might be good for you. I had called them for A pick up at 10-12 and they did not come until 1pm. They gave us no call or Notice that they will be late. i had to constantly call and check up on when they will be arriving. once they came all my junk wouldn't fit into their truck so they requested I should do a second pick up. We had all our junk in one pile and broke everything down. They were able to loaded it onto the truck within an hour. However they charged $600+ for it. So i made another appointment for the next day and they did not show up. I had to constantly call to see if they were coming. They said they were backed up but will for sure come, but they never did. I called again to make an appointment for the following day and they still never showed. No phone call or notice to let me know where they are. Called them multiple times to see where they are and got the same answer stating they are backed up but will for sure be able to pick up the junk. They still never came or called. I would not recommend this place unless you are willing to wait hours or days for a pick up. read more

This company seems to have mastered the art of getting every single aspect of service provision wrong. Who would have thought that keeping an appointment, showing up within that window of time, and providing a fair bid could be so difficult. We booked an appointment to bid junk removal at a property we are selling. They provided us with a window of time and promised a call 30 minutes prior to their arrival (which was optimal because we no longer live there). After waiting for two hours within our appointments window and five minutes past that time of arrival we call dispatch. They claim there is no problem, that they will still call on their way, and tell us to continue to have faith. After another 15 minutes, we leave. 45 minutes after our scheduled window they call to tell us they are waiting at the property. Wow...seriously. We quickly drive back to the property. The gentlemen (who were very nice and apologetic) explained that their system was down and they had no access to our info until they were on their way. We are understanding people, why would dispatch not reveal this information? Then they assess our garbage removal and provide an outrageous bid. I ask if they can moderately offset their price due to the enormous inconvenience. They call a supervisor named Jay who seemingly does not care or understand the magnitude and importance of the customer experience. He says the bid is the bid with no apology to the gentlemen sent to my property. They seemed embarrassed and left. This company lacks the professionalism and competitive pricing it takes to even operate in their industry. Congratulations on lowering the bar for customer experience. My junk was ultimately taken ON TIME for a 1/3 of the price given to me from another service provider. read more
