After getting a smog check down the street, you can finish the remainder of your out-of-state car registration process by going to 1 Stop Auto Registration. They handle the VIN verification here too. I walked out with my plates/stickers in less than 30 minutes. All you need is an ID, smog check proof, your old registration. I was able to avoid the DMV and am really glad I came here. read more

For a $49 convenience fee (BARGAIN!), and then the regular DMV fees, you drive there, find ample parking all around the office, walk into the air conditioned office. Without any delay whatsoever, a nice, smiling, courteous person tells you to please take a seat at the table and the transaction starts. 10 minutes later you walk out the door with your temporary car registration printed and ready to rock. This place was unbelievably the fastest service I have ever received...and the process was so easy and simple...after realizing that my tags had expired due to me not doing a forwarding change of address when I moved, I was not looking forward to possibly having to go to the DMV and stand in their long lines..I usually buy my tags at triple A, but even that would of been a process. I got my car smog tested. After it passed I went home, and paid for my registration online. The DMV accepted the payment, but alerted me with a cryptic message that my registration was incomplete and they would mail me in a few weeks with what action to take. To this day I am not sure why this happened, but I suppose the Smog test certification wasn't in their system yet. A month later still no letter arrived. I am an hourly consultant, so going to the DMV to resolve their mistake would mean losing a day's pay. I went to 1 stop and paid $50 well worth the cost vs. Losing a day. Within 10 minutes they resolved the issue and gave me my new sticker and registration papers. won't be going to the DMV or using their online registration again, but I will be going to 1 Stop. read more
