Gorgeous hipster bar, great beer, godawful waitress. Full disclosure: we are POC Americans trying…read moreto get by on meager French. We walked in and were asked by a male waiter to wait to be seated, so my husband and I stood by the reception desk at the door. Another couple (French) waltz in and another waiter (female, dark curly hair, pretty) seats them immediately, ignoring us. Then she notices us and leads us to a table. The bar's front room seating options feature comfy sofas and armchairs in three of its four corners in what looks like an old-fashioned salon. Additionally, there are tables for two in the middle. The cozy corner nooks are taken when we arrive,so our waitress leads us to one of the middle tables. Not great, but okay. But then while waitjng to place our order, a couple leaves one of the cozy corner armchair sections. A party of four asks to take that newly vacated prime spot. They are moved immediately, no problem. They leave a small corner table with plush seating by the bar. Naturally we ask (in our flawed but well-intentioned French) if we can take their spot. Our waitress says NO. From what I understand, she explains that the newly vacated table is already reserved. Fine, I think. Maybe 4 other people made reservations for those two little two-top tables and their plush seats. Maybe they ordered dinner, and we were lower priority because we only ordered beer. I'm disappointed, but I get it. Ten minutes later, a lone woman walks and is ushered to that corner table. We assume she's waiting for three friends to join her. Nope. She stares at her phone for an hour, doesn't order food, finishes her one drink, and leaves. Not long after, two people walk in and are given the same table. Clearly NO ONE has made a reservation. For whatever reason, that waitress just didn't want to move us a measly five feet over to the next table. WHY? Did she really disapprove of our meager but polite French? Who knows. I really wanted to love this bar, but we are never drinking there again.

The staff didn't speak much English but they tried their best (and I also tried my best in broken French), but frankly it didn't matter, as every cocktail we had was delicious.

He welcomed us warmly and sat us outside in the covered patio. We did one menu and added some extra dishes to share between the two of us. Every item was so well prepared, visually stunning and incredibly tasty. The wine options were fantastic as nd dessert was delectable. Seriously considered going back, but there were so many good restaurants in Dijon to try. Wow!

It was relatively obvious that they serve English-speaking consumers because they had menus in English. My friend and I had a good time here tasting wine and catching up. Majority of the dishes were pretty good but not extremely spectacular, ranging from the beef bourguignon to the soy-glazed chicken to the eggs with mashed potatoes, they all had varying degrees of seasoning and the salt wasn't too overpowering. Some of the dishes leaned towards more on the plain side in terms of flavor. The arancini tomatoes didn't have too much fresh flavor in my opinion, and that was my least favorite dish in comparison. Overall, one would have a good time if visiting Dijon, and I would recommend this establishment. It's worth noting that they had good service, which sometimes can be a hit or miss in France in general due to them not having a tipping culture.
