I found 10,000 Lakes Pomeranians last year as I was looking for a reputable AKC Pomeranian breeder that had blue merles in their breeding program. I read her website and researched her online, then reached out to get more information and potentially join the wait list. Ania was very prompt in answering my email and invited me to chat via phone or text, answering any question I had. I felt comfortable knowing that we could put a deposit to get on the wait list and skip our turn if it came up before we were ready, since we thought it would be 2-3 years before our senior Pom passed and we would want to get a puppy.
A few months later, my Pom fell ill unexpectedly. In my grief, I mentioned to Ania we might lose her sooner than expected. Ania checked in several times that week to see how my Pom was doing even though it was not one of her Poms and I had never purchased a Pom from her before. Later that week, my Pom passed away and I was beyond distraught, but had not mentioned to Ania yet. I woke up the next morning to a text from Ania that a litter had been born (hours after my Pom had passed) and there was a little blue merle parti girl in the litter and she could be ours if we wanted. Mind you, we didn't know she had a litter due at the time (we thought she was expecting in January), there was only one girl, she was the only merle, and she was the first born. Obviously it was a sign and obviously we said yes.
Ania sent videos and professional-quality photos (seriously, have you seen her photos?!?!) at least once a week, posting them on her FB page, but often texted us other photos and videos directly as well, always keeping us updated on how Paisley was doing. At 5 or so weeks of age, Ania evaluates the puppies for pricing and is very transparent in her evaluations, sending photos, final pricing, etc. She then sends over the final adoption contract with the puppy price and details to sign and send back, and gives a week or so to pay the balance. All very standard and super easy! Waiting to get the puppy is the hardest part of the whole thing!
We weren't able to travel to Minnesota to pick up our puppy, so Ania arranged a wonderful puppy nanny (at an additional, but incredibly reasonable price) to pick up Paisley and fly her to us. (In case you're not familiar with puppy nannies, yes the puppy flies in the cabin with the nanny, NOT in cargo!) We didn't know the day/time/airport the nanny would fly in until about a week or so ahead of time because the nanny flies standby, but it was not a problem. The entire process was super smooth and easy, like everything else.
Paisley was a few days over 9 weeks old when she arrived to us, and we've had her for just over 2 weeks now. She is an incredibly sweet, playful, and smart puppy. SO smart. She loves giving kisses and loves every person she meets. She's curious and very friendly and playful with our cat (Ania has two cats in her home which the puppies get socialized with, which is amazing!). She was even about 95% pee pad trained when we got her! (Honestly, probably even more than that, she just also thinks the white fleece puppy blanket and area rug are pee pads too like most dogs do. ) We haven't had to potty train a dog pretty much ever, so that was one of our biggest worries in getting a puppy, and it has literally been a breeze! She catches onto things very quickly, especially if there's a treat involved.
Everyone who meets Paisley falls in love with her and says she's the most beautiful dog they've ever seen (and this is coming from veterinary specialists and vet techs who see dogs all day long). This also means she's been examined by some of the best veterinary specialists in the country, and she is absolutely perfect! We could not be happier with Ania, her process, or the beautiful puppy we got from her. We will without a doubt be getting a second Pom puppy from her in the future -- which, given how amazed and in love with Paisley we are, may be much sooner than we originally planned.
If you're looking for a reputable AKC breeder who cares about her puppies and clients like family and whose puppies are stunningly beautiful, perfectly healthy, cunningly smart, and lovingly friendly, Ania / 10,000 Lakes Pomeranians is it. read more
