I have listened to 102.3 NOW Radio since the beginning. I remember seeing blank billboards throughout the city & thinking what's that all about? Shortly after the Billboards were updated to say "soon" in small letters. Over the days the word soon increased to a larger size. All of a sudden NOW appeared in large letters with their classic blue/green/black colour scheme. Crash & Mars were the morning show from the get go. Producer Jonny was in the wings but I don't remember him being on the air very much. There were other people on NOW Radio that are not on NOW Radio now. Cory & Ami, Chris Love, Rebecca Page, Carey Howe, Matty B., Fitzy, Rob Grant & Joelle. Am I missing anyone? I seem to think Adam & Rachel have always been on he air by themselves. NOW Radio is music you want to hear. However, it's the funny, interesting & sometimes provocative conversations in between great music that keeps you in The NOW Family. 102.3 Now Radio - Radio Stations Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

This is the newest radio station in Edmonton right now. I listened to it for the first time today and I am a bit disappointed. First of all, they are called Now Radio. That name implies that they play current, up-to-date music. But when I turned to their radio station today, White Wedding by Billy Idol was playing. It's a good song but there is nothing "Now" about it. So I guess their thing is that they play all genres of music, old and new. But when someone called in and requested Skillet, the DJ made fun of him. He made fun of him. And he continued to make fun of him even after the fact. If you are going to claim to play everything, you should have a DJ that knows all different genres. And even if he didn't know who Skillet was (I do and they are great), he should not alienate his listeners, making fun of them and insulting them. It's unprofessional and it's ignorant, to be honest. A new radio station can't afford to be alienating listeners so early in the game. I was not impressed with 102.3. I won't be listening again. Whether they have good music or not, I won't be listening to them out of principle. Everyone is entitled to their taste in music and should not be scrutinized for it. read more

I don't personally listen to it, but I do leave it on for my dog when he is left alone in the house haha (for real). Since it does have a mix of music but more easy listening than the other radio stations, works for my dog and keeps him calm. When I have turned it on it does seem to play more retro 80's and 90's music, which is fine. As for the hosts, I have no clue who they are or how they are. So if my dog could talk, I'm sure he'd give it 2 paws up! read more

I'll admit... I've been a country fan for a long time. But Now Radio has definitely started turning me back towards pop. I started listening more for the hosts and conversations than the music itself. But now it's the only thing I listen to at work. The hosts are hilarious and they do a great job of getting their listeners involved. They also seem to always have some sort of community involvement project going on.... where they raise money either for a charity or for a local family. The station has recently been sold... so there will likely be changes, but if the new owners are smart they'll keep the "join the conversation" concept. read more

Is it okay to dislike a radio station for its TV commercial? Because 102.3's TV advert alone could make me never tune into Now Radio again. Okay this radio station isn't exactly terrible, it's just confusing. So their TV spot went something like..."First there was OLD radio...then there was NEW radio...and now there's NOW Radio." What does that even mean? Wouldn't "now" radio be "new" radio, because, you know, it's in present time? Why do they play "old" radio if it's "now" radio? How do I know I exist "now"? Is my life a lie? Is there a god? So after listening to this station for a while, I guess they play both old and new hits. The funny thing is that none of it is really "new" or "old", it's music from last year and buzz music from like '97 (think Goo Goo Dolls). Yeah, I'll pass "now". read more

When I bought my car in November, I started listening to the radio a lot more. For the number of FM stations in Edmonton (especially Top 40 stations), you would think there might be more variety amongst the songs played. But I can drive to downtown and back and guarantee you that I'll hear Rihanna played at least three times. Sometimes the same songs on different stations at the same time. It's a sorry state of affairs. But 102.3 Now Radio is, I think, clearly the front-runner among all those Top 40 stations. Sure, they play Rihanna and the really popular, overplayed songs, but they switch it up with older tracks by Bon Jovi and U2. The music is a lot more varied at this station, and I actually really like the radio personalities they have. Rachel and Cary-oke, anyone? read more

I was not very impressed with this radio station. I was only on the station for about 5 minutes before I got bored and turned OFF. The music seems to be lame music that Sonic and the bounce USED to play... which sort of makes it ironic that they call themselves "now radio". It's more like "6-months ago to a year radio" I prefer the bounce and hot 107 over any other music station on the radio these days, and I will not be switching anytime soon! read more

I like this radio station. Saw it on the billboard one day while driving and tuned in - for the duration of my trip home I loved every song they played. I listen to them quite often - they have a very good choice in music - popular contemporary songs but they also throw in some retro hits too. Its a nice blend. read more

We have had this station on at work since last week and I can say I have had MORE than my fill of Now Radio. I think it's great they are willing to step away from the same 10 or so overplayed songs that the other pop radio stations play and mix in some older music but the Dj's are the auditory equivalent of being power slammed onto a cement floor by a professional wrestler. For those that do not know Crash and Mars who are on in the morning are also a couple off the airwaves. The majority of their show is devoted to discussing each others quirks and their "wacky relationship". I wouldn't mind this so much in small doses but for the amount they spend talking about each other it really feels like being forced to listen to that one friend we all have that no matter how much you try to discuss things like the weather,news,movies,or books they somehow always manage to bring the conversation back to their significant other. Adam Mckale who follows them afterwards also angers me greatly. Now is currently running this stupid contest where the Dj spins something called "the wheel of oil" and it can land on either Oilers tickets,a cash prize,or a container of olive oil. Yes you are reading that correctly....I said olive oil. I listened to him spin for one gentleman that really wanted to see the Oilers but it landed on the olive oil and he was very noticeably disappointed. Mckale could have just thanked the guy for playing and got off the phone with him but instead he proceeded to make fun of the guys obvious disappointment. I have never wanted the ability to Darth Vader force choke someone so badly in all of my life. Why would you make fun of an upset listener? Good lord man what is wrong with you...are you five years old!!?? Also why would they run a contest where you have the chance of getting a junk prize? I can understand having prizes with different level of quality but you don't leave an excited listener who sat on the phones and was lucky enough to be that magic number that was getting to play the game with garbage. Yes the music is not bad but the terrible contests and awful on air personalities totally ruined any chance of me liking this station and I really can't think of anything positive to say besides my first comment about the decent range of songs. read more

I can't understand the hate for this station by fellow Yelpers. I love Now radio. Everytime I tune into 102.3 fm I hear an upbeat, energetic tune. Who cares if the song is 2 weeks old, 2 years old or 2 decades old? If I'm looking for some up lifting music, I turn to Now radio an am never disappointed. It's Edmontons "feel good" station. As for their radio personalities, who cares? ALL radio personalities on ALL stations are annoying egomanics, it's in their DNA. I don't listen to radio personalities or commercials, change the dial. Their playlist is very diverse, 2nd only to Joe fm. Now, if you want repetitive playlists, feel free to listen to Sonic or Hot 107. Those stations playlist are like an audio "Groundhog Day" day in and day out. read more

The music- it's not my favorite. The day and evening hosts do an adequate job- I'm not angrily switching the preset as fast as possible. Crash and Mars absolutely kill me on my drive to work in the morning and bring the average WAY UP. I love the absurdity of the conversations. Sad they can't be as innovative with the music as they are with some of the other stuff. I don't understand radio, so I don't know why they can't have a more expansive music list. I can be almost guaranteed of hearing Cheap Trick on Rachel's show and Mony Mony sometime over the weekend. Aren't there, like, 500 million songs to choose from? Point is, we sometimes mute the music and turn it back on for the hosts. The hosts. I know this is subjective; one person's hilarious is another person's bullet to the head. That being said: Crash and Mars are good, they balance each other nicely, and with Ginge they're great. Rachel is great, Adam is good, Mark's okay, Joelle is...okay, Taz is goodbye please, Chris I think is still finding his way, and Fitzy - I know people love him for his bottle drives, but that doesn't make one a good host. He's painfully unfunny, painfully awkward, just painful to listen to. He's the only host I will change the station for. My God, get him a cohost or something so that he doesn't have to talk to himself. Just thinking about his on air personality makes me cringe. I used to like this radio station more so in the past.. but it feels really stale now. They play an excessive amount of Taylor Swift, if that's your thing. I do still enjoy Crash and Mars in the morning on occasion, they can be pretty funny. However I can't stand Adam McKale who comes on afterwards. And there's a terribly irritating woman with a squeaky voice. I'm a little over the "Now Family" aspect too.. We usually always have Now radio on as our station, but turn it after she comes on. We cant stand the constant crying, stupid jokes, her annoying laugh, and excuse to sing any chance she gets. What? I have to say, I don't often change the station off of NOW Radio anymore. It's nice not to hear the same 15 songs played every hour, all day long. They do tend to still overplay the "hits", but they take requests of all sorts, and they mix up the top 40 with a lot of older music. It's fun to hear some songs from my teens - brings back good memories. The hosts are a mixed bag. Crash and Mars are brilliant. Definitely the best of the bunch. Rob and Joelle are a fantastic team - he's hilarious when he gets going. Rachel can be extremely annoying and ditzy at times, although she's had me laughing out loud in my car once or twice, and the two lone male hosts - Adam and Fitzy - are not very interesting at all. All in all, one of the better radio stations I've listened to over the years. read more

Great music great hosts, adam and taz are by far the best duo on the air to bad there only together between 1 and 2. Fitzy is also a really great host funny and he does such remarkable work in the community with bottle drives and what not. Rob and Joelle are pretty funny and I enjoy listening to them too. Crash and Mars are by far the best mourning show hosts in the entire city never a dull mourning listening to them. Why is it hard to find a decent radio station in Edmonton? I don't mind Crash and Mars in the morning but I find Rachel and Cary annoying and Rachel over-enunciates, which is a pet peeve of mine. I legit don't like more than half the music this station plays. But I love the hosts. I love all the talking, and I started listening because of the Takeover, which at noon, Adam McKale will play pretty much anything you request, keeping it very diverse. Adam is my fav, but I enjoy Rob and Joelle and Rachel as well. read more
