We attended last year while visiting family from out or state. First we were struck by the fact that there was not sign of being a church. No Holy Cross, No scripture teaching, Nothing to say come join us and learn what the book/bible is and was meant to be. We were a bit taken back by the manner which the sermon was given, more than one speaker not in person but on a pre-recorded video, a so called assistant pastor that seemed to be very unexperienced. We felt this was more about bringing numbers of people to attend and tithing not teachings of the bible and the word of God. More was said about how the church began and how it grew than a pastor taking care of his congregation. Large video screen rather than someone teaching its members about the bible or leading a Godly life. Coming as you are in great numbers is no more that giving an inspirational speech about how you can become whatever you want to be not for the glory of our lord Jesus Christ and what he stood for. You would of gained more to attend a church on line to receive more bible education, But that was not Gods goal for anyone, its all about families, word of Christ and faithful attendance. My favorite time of year at our church has arrived!!! Each year our pastor Kevin Myers does a series of messages called "At the Movies", where he uses blockbuster Hollywood movies to teach biblical lessons. It is SO MUCH FUN for EVERYONE during the series! In the past the church has transformed into different movie set venues. Characters from many of your favorite movies past and present have walked around the lobby and lingering around the church entrances. I've seen everyone from Gru and his minions to Elsa and Belle, and Marty McFly with Doc (complete with De'lorean & Flux Capacitor) to a full grown raptor from Jurassic Park. Oh, and they've also realistically duplicated the Jurassic gates and test labs. The creative staff @ 12Stone truly goes all out. However, this year pastor has decided to break from the past and will only be decorating the stage area and sadly, no characters will be walking the church lobby :-( I truly hope Pastor changes back to having the characters in the lobby. As a greeter, I know how much excitement it brings to the younger kids and as well as teens and adults alike. Each week pastor uses a different movie to teach life lessons! It just may be THEE MOST FUN you will ever have in church if you are not one who attends regularly. * * * * * There are great lessons to be learned in these Hollywood stories. If you live anywhere within 2 hours of the church, I would highly recommend you attend one of the 4 sunday services: 9am, 11am, 1pm and 6pm. That includes you Chattanooga, Greenville, Macon, Augusta, Anniston and possibly even Birmingham! OR if you are too far away to make it in person, you can watch the services each week online @ https://12stone.com/at-the-movies. PLEASE NOTE that because of copyright restrictions, the services online begin every hour on the hour. So depending on when you log in, service may either be already be underway or not yet started. IF you log in 15 minutes before the hour, you will only see a motionless "At the Movies" screen. I love this church because they do so much for the community and 12Stone is not afraid to step outside of the box to serve others. For the record: no church is perfect or can ever please everybody I admit, but here they teach you to SERVE OTHERS which is what Jesus Christ commanded us to do. Thank You 12Stone for helping me grow through the messages and music. Also the staff at 12Stone always comes across to everyone as being ordinary people who are not better than others. This is a lesson on the exposition of scripture! The reading and teaching was Psalm 1, In Context! This was NOT a topical teaching based on a variety of scripture references taken out of context. While the teaching was Old Testament, it was still applicable in a NT kind of way in regards to FAITH! Worship music was energetic. Staff and volunteers were helpful. I'm just afraid that one, especially an introverted person like myself, could easily get lost in the crowd here and never really connect with anyone. read more

All i can say is WoW!!!! this place was amazing. This time, i went to their main location in lawrenceville and it was absolutely amazing. I was blown away by the series that they are currently doing (at the movies). today's lessons were based on star wars (the force awakens). they were doing their bible teaching through the movie, using scenarios from the movie and tying it into the bible and real life (such as when "fin" changed from bad to good to help the alliance. showing that bad doesn't always win over good and that you make your own choices in life). in addition, the people here were much more friendly and attentive to me being new. They were filled with people who were happy to help and show me around as well as seating me towards the front where i was surrounded by some amazing people. The band played modern music and were absolutely amazing. I would definitely like to thank a fellow yelper for bringing me back here, as if it wasn't for him, i would not have given this a second chance. What a great church! Very comfortable, relaxed dress, great music, friendly people, easy to navigate. You can tell that this church cares deeply about people who are new to church and welcoming them into the community. This is a multi-campus church that has lots of video-driven elements, but this location has the pastor speak live. His message was engaging, inspiring, and focused on Christ. From the very first time I walked through the door at 12Stone Church I felt welcome. The team outside and inside were very warm and friendly. Pastor Kevin's sermon was very articulate and meaningful. He is a very open and honest person with whom everyone can relate to. He speaks to you and not at you. There are multiple ways to get connected with others in this church. From volunteering opportunities, to small groups, to classes and support groups. From infants to adults there's something for everyone. I'm involved with a women's group, a couple's group, the baptism team, greeting team, High School ministry, our current series At the Movies, front desk check in for toddlers playtime, and going on my first mission trip in about a month. I love my church. Pastor has a heart for helping others, and sharing The Word of God. We have a live band that plays worship music, very talented musicians and actors that come up with some amazing and hilarious skits and short movies. There are classes for all ages from newborn up. Each age range being in their own specific area receiving the love and message appropriate for their understanding. My two boys love their classes. They also have small groups for more intimate/ personal settings where you can ask questions and go deeper into the Bible Studies and grow friendships. There are many different service times, so hopefully one will fit your schedule. We love the diversity, you will see all kinds of races and backgrounds here. This is a place where you can come as you are and let God love on you and help you become the person you were called to be! read more

This is an amazing church! If you want to learn more about God and the Bible this is a great place to do it. If you want to learn how to improve your life and the lives of those around you, this is the place to do it! This church does SO much for the local community and to various missions worldwide. If you are expecting a church with hymnals and slow organ music you won't find it here. You'll hear guitars, piano, keyboards etc. The music is incredible. All people are welcome here. read more

I visited this church and it wasn't for me. I believe everyone in leadership is heaven bound and sincere. Culturally it does not suit me. I didn't like the music. I didn't like seeing a sermon on video. I didn't like the way the people were a little too gushy about explaining how they are not like a traditional church, thus their worship is different. Finally it is too big for me. I appreciate a smaller more traditional worship. So while it is not a church I am likely to visit again, it may be right for you. read more

I love this church! I got Baptized today, which took a lot of courage for someone like myself to go up in front of all those people. Everyone there is so helpful and friendly. The messages really reach out and speak to me personally. Even though its a big church I feel I am still able to make a connection. I look forward all week to going there. This is an AWESOME place to worship. They love God and it is very evident in the message and in their attitude of serving others.

ARE YOU READY TO PAY MONEY FOR TAP WATER?!?! If so, please by all means attend this church. I went to their Starbucks cafe to ask for water with ice and was informed that it would cost 30 cents. For water. Yes. You read that correctly. Have you ever heard of a church charging their members for ice water to drink? Have you heard of even Starbucks charging for ice water? I was so disgusted and upset. I could not help but feel exploited from by my faith and think about how greedy this church is. All I wanted was some water with ice and I have to pay for it and was not provided any other options. It's ridiculous to say the VERY least. Will you charge me to breathe the 12 stone air next? I have attended this church plenty of times and cried while worshiping the lord. I have donated my tithes at every service. Yet after this incident, when I attended the service I was very distracted and could not push pass the feeling of being taken advantage of at my own church. I could not help but think if this is all a facade to see how much money they receive from their faithful members. I wrote a letter to the church about how I felt, and they were nice enough to contact me. Unfortunately the conversation that transpired ended with the lady telling me that no church is perfect. She was right: no church is perfect and no person is perfect for that matter. I was not asking for perfection. One thing I love about my faith in God is that he pushes us to strive for perfection and be the best we can be all while knowing we will never be perfect. This church attempting to make a profit from the lowest aspect of charging for ice water is far from perfect and they need to strive for more. It's a large church but has a familial feel! Pastor Kevin is amazing and appeals to a wide audience, but he's not afraid to speak the unpopular truth. The music is VERY contemporary (which I love), but older folks may like traditional. They have great campuses spread out across Gwinnett, but the main Lawrenceville campus is crowded but well structured. Parking is easy and the staff will greet you and help you find a seat if you are a visitor. The Lawrenceville campus also has a Starbuck's available and the children's center is large with a lot of entertainment for the kids including an outdoor playground. My favorite thing about this church is that they are very service-oriented. They are always fundraising and giving back to the community. They also make it easy to get involved as a volunteer or join a weekly small group study where you can bond and meet more church members more intimately. Come visit 12 Stone! Amazing church with a wonderful atmosphere and place to worship! No matter which campus you go to, you feel welcome and accepted for who you are. My kids love the children's program. They know my kids by name now and let them know they are missed when we have not been in a week or so. read more

We have attended this church for over 5 years. The sermons are consistently uplifting and rooted in God's word. The pastor is wonderful! He keeps you laughing through the sermons but still has substance to his messages. Our kids absolutely love the children's church both toddler and elementary age. The are always asking how much longer until they get to go back! First walked through 12Stone's doors way back in the Fall of 2000 (when it was called Crossroads Community Church), and I can honestly say this church has changed my life. Faith is a very personal, intimate journey... (and it seems odd to me to "rate" a church). However, if you're looking for a warm community of believers who are very "real" (and who are open to seekers); who meet and worship in a casual atmosphere, then come check it out. Most people wear jeans; a lot of people (including the pastor) ride motorcycles (there is dedicated motorcycle parking area), and there's even a Starbucks on premises. Come visit. I went to this "church"...or should I say "campus" ...specifically the sugarloaf location, for the first time tonight. I will not be back to entertain this business. First off, you are greeted by a Starbucks. There is no statues or pictures of Jesus or anything that would indicate this is a religious establishment at all. The main congregation area looks like the Cobb galleria or Georgia world congress center. Again, nothing indicating thIs is a place for worship. The attire is offensive. There was a girl part of the band wearing ripped up jeans? Really? And I'm surprised the pasture wears jeans? The pasture delegated the sermon to someone else who told what he said to be, a childhood story from when he was 10. The story was cute, but mostly a movie. The message was easy for anyone to understand and was interesting to follow. After he was done, they aired a live sermon from the main "campus" senior pasture in which aired to all campuses. I became very confused when he referred to the bike story that was just told to us. The man that told us the bike story was live in our campus and told the story from a first person perspective and indicated very clearly the entire time it was his story from when HE was 10. After finding out the same story was told to like 10 churches, I felt lied to and felt like I was being roped into a sales pitch to get me to commit as a member...in which we were reminded of throughout the entire service multiple times. This is a business, not a church. It's an excuse for people to claim they go to church for whatever reason they may feel obligated to. It was not genuine at all. read more
