The breakfast is also very good, with a great choice, despite having to ask for a few dirty cups to be changed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town centre so it's great even without own transport. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, although we had no real cause to call upon them. The car park is very small and tight, so it is often difficult to park. Unfortunately the 'free wireless' had zero reception in the hotel room and even in the hotel bar I could get connected but not through to the Internet. Although there are small flat TVs in the rooms, the channel selection is limited to the main terrestrial channels and a slim choice of others. Although the bathroom was clean, the hotel towels are miniscule and the thread count is almost zero. The shower suffered from an extreme lack of pressure and went cold every time somebody flushed a toilet anywhere in the hotel! Our room was at the rear of the hotel and because there was no air conditioning, we had the window open, which was very noisy in the morning because it was adjacent to a supermarket. Overall, despite the minor negative points, we'd definitely stay again because of the cleanliness, good food and good service at a very good price.

After settling in, we joined our fellow travelers for a drink in a beautiful salon. We opted for the wonderful dinner created by the Chateau chef. Candlelight, wonderful wines and a tasty selection of Normandy dishes. Breakfast the next day was equally both stunning and homey. Hard to pull off but Chateau Canisy does it. The location was great for both exploring Normandy and Mont St. Michel. Can't wait to go back. Give it a try if you are exploring northeast France. Beautiful, friendly, well appointed. Most speak excellent English and are very service-minded. The daily menu is a good deal and quite delicious. We had sea bass one evening and steak the other. We felt welcome like family here. It's small, so they come to know you. This is very kid friendly and comfortable. It's a great place to stay if you want something quiet, homey and charming. I now feel like I have experienced a French manor after staying here.

We stayed here once, it has a great bistro, which is all you can eat, or there is the rather elegant restaurant. Roughing it as we do, when we stay in a hotel, we went out to eat. We've eaten in so many cafes and bars. One of my favourites is Salade Nicoise - gosh I'm getting hungry!! this hotel is rather nice indeed. You must see the cathedral and the gardens, and get the local cheese - it's very calorific.
