And I still get emails from the Fez…read more Their themed nights are interesting. And their drinks, though pricey (in terms of pounds) are good enough to give you a lasting buzz...or more. The good thing about this place is they don't charge you for cover (well at least when I went) and dress codes aren't strict (I guess cuz they assume everyone in Europe has a good sense of style). Last I was here my friends and I got there early enough to get a booth and ordered ourselves drinks before we hit the dancefloor. But while there, I accidentally bumped into some lady smoking where then she told me to "WOTCH IT!" Also, there seemed to be more guys and girls. You know what that means (I'll let that simmer for a bit). I also couldn't really enjoy their music, not because I didn't like it but moreso because I couldn't get used to it. But everyone around me seemed to enjoy it, what with it being stuff from the U.S. and other countries. The crowd there was very diverse too, especially both young and old. Mostly old. Overall, if I was back in the area I would comeback just to party here one more time. I know there aren't that many clubs/ night spots in Cambridge but the Fez is a good club to check out if you're in the area.

This is an alright club, a bit on the small side and very pricey (and I'm used to London prices)…read morebut the music was good, the toilets were nice and the staff were suprisingly friendly. For the taller person this place is a little cramped but I'm used to that now but it can be a hit hairy after afew and you forget to duck. Also the coat check is a joke, there is no real queue and it's basically just a free for all to get your coat in or out ad this means it drops a star as a good coat check is the mark of a good club. All in all it's not a bad night out, especially seeing as cambridge has little else to it's name.

The Snug - More horseradish I found in my drink!

I have been to the snug bar twice only because I was passing through Cambridge on a shopping…read morevoyage. I like to stop there to get a drink because they have a huge drink menu and a bite. I've learned that getting a drink is the only thing Snug bar is good for based on my last two experiences. First experience, I ordered a bloody mary and a hamburger. Hamburger was OK forgettable, and chose the chunky potato chips, forgettable as well. About the bloody mary, I ordered it extra spicy and what I got was extra mashed up horseradish that turned the normally red 'bloody' drink into a creamy chunk white chunky drink. It was not very nice and not very easy to stomach. I took pictures of all the horseradish I was taking out of my mouth. What got me was I looked at their condiments and they had a large bottle of Tabasco sauce, why didn't someone use their brain? Next trip was about 2 months later, today's voyage. I ordered same forgettable hamburger as well as the memorable Winter Woo that had warmed vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice. I ordered the Winter Woo on my first trip due to the bad bloody mary, it was nice. I drank my drink, we talked. An hour later our food arrives. Hamburger is OK, and then I started eating the coleslaw and what I found at the bottom of the dish was a pack of used butter condiment so technically trash was in my food. I felt sick, I complained to the waiter, he gave me the 25% 'student' discount' to get me to be OK with finding trash in my food. So yeah...Not my favorite place, but I will still have drinks there, I give them two stars for the drinks no stars for the food and the ambiance. I remembered the time before last there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, don't like to shake it if I don't have to, please restock your toilet paper.

The Snug - What is in my drink?!!!! Mashed horseradish!!! Why didn't they use Tabasco Sauce? It was on their condiment shelf.

The Snug - My receipt where they gave me the 25% student discount. It is a norm that they do there for students.

As soon as I looked at the menu, I knew I had made a mistake. This place seems to be solely for the purpose of drinking wine, not, as I expected, a good place to try new wines with different food pairings. Perhaps if there were more people in my party or if I had not been on a budget, this purpose would have been better accommodated. However, I accepted that I had sat down here and decided to give it a chance. The first thing, obviously, was to order a drink.Their selection of rose and cider was abysmal, no more than two options for either. At first, I thought, "Well, it is a WINE bar," but then I continued looking through the menu and their offerings of gin, whiskey, and other spirits was quite impressive. While it was possible to order reds and whites by the glass, there was only one 'by the glass' option for champagne, rose, and sparkling wines, and I was not in the mood to have to mull over the menu again if I did not like their selection. So, I ordered the cider. When the waiter brought it over, I noticed something on the inside of the glass, but when I looked up to tell him about it, he had already gone. I waited for him to come back, which took five minutes and I did not receive an apology, which I was not hung up about but it is still good customer service to do so. Once he returned and I tried the cider, I found it quite sour and not to my taste. The wines had descriptions so I felt one for the ciders and ales would have done very well. As for food, their offerings were mainly cheese and charcuterie dishes. I was looking for something more substantial, but it would have been rude not to order anything so I ordered the bread board, which is merely bread and olive oil. It was perfectly fine. The service was not anything to be impressed by. The waiter was not friendly at all. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very touristy, at least to me. Perhaps this is due to its location on the river, where students and companies are trying to get the tourists to go on a punting tours. Overall, unsatisfactory. Will not be going back.
