Well ... at Best Buy craziness ensued: cars were parked all over the place, inside it was complete pandemonium -- there's no way I could have gotten anything in any amount of time that would not have made me rue the day I had ever driven there. So I returned to Gibson's. Boy, am I glad I did. The deals there were just as great ($750 for a Samsung LED Smart TV) and there weren't the crowds to deal with, service was personal and stress-free, and within 10 minutes I was walking out with my TV. No sales pressure, no stress, no BS. And the best part is Gibson's personalized customer care -- something goes wrong with the TV, they come to your house, they take it out, they fix it, they bring it back. Highly recommended. I traded in totes full of thousands of dollars worth of games and I spent just as much in the store on games and merch. When I moved to Woodstock I continued making the trip to Kitchener just to continue shopping with them, but in the end none of that earned me any loyalty or respect. On April 3, 2022 I drove to Kitchener to trade about a $100 worth of games in toward two used switch games they had listed as in-stock on their website at $59.99 each. When asking about the games in-store I was directed to their high-price game cabinet near the front door where they were each listed for much higher than advertised on the website. The employee called the store manager regarding the discrepancy and the message relayed to me was essentially tough luck, that's the price, and they wouldn't be honoring the advertised price. Other retail stores would have owned their mistake and honored their own advertised price, but instead of valuing my business their priority seemed to be to make a quick buck by marking up the games as much as possible. I will no longer be giving Microplay my business.

Walking into Eclectric Audio, you immediately encounter several musical gems on racks or display cases. For my visit, there was a very nice Gibson Les Paul, and a Nord Lead 2ex that caught my eye. On the other wall, you'll find quite an array of old (read: vintage) turntables and amplifiers. In addition to sales, the owner Jon also does repair work on instruments, electronics and amplifiers. Very knowledgeable and friendly, Jon was able to diagnose the problem with my amplifier over the phone before even bringing it in. Service was fast, inexpensive, and fully explained. I've found my new shop for gear and repairs!
