Office Experience complaint: This business, VIP, requires…read moreme to pay for services upfront and then submits a claim to my insurance company so that I can be reimbursed. Unfortunately, over the past year, there have been two separate occasions where my insurance company sent the reimbursement directly to VIP rather than to me because the office staff had me complete the required forms incorrectly. In both instances, I did not receive the reimbursement I was entitled to for several months. I ultimately had to investigate the issue myself, discover the error made by VIP's office staff, and then take responsibility for tracking down the money that should have been reimbursed to me. When the issue occurred a second time, I asked VIP to reimburse me directly and then resolve the matter with my insurance company themselves, since the situation resulted from an error on their part. Unfortunately, VIP declined to do so. It has now been more than three months, and I still have not received the money owed to me. I also emailed the office last week requesting that they correct the situation and reimburse me directly, but I have not received a response. I want to emphasize that I have been very pleased with the clinical care I have received. The periodontist and hygienist are highly skilled and professional in their work, and I would like to continue my treatment at VIP. However, I have become increasingly concerned about the professionalism and accountability of the office staff, including the office manager. It is particularly frustrating that an administrative error made by the office has resulted in me being without my own money for more than three months, while I have been left to identify the problem and pursue the reimbursement myself. I do not believe it is reasonable or fair for VIP to accept my payment upfront but, when an error on its end prevents me from receiving reimbursement, fail to take responsibility for resolving the matter. I hope VIP will take this situation seriously, review what went wrong, and reimburse me promptly. I would also appreciate assurance that appropriate steps will be taken to prevent similar billing and insurance errors from occurring in the future. I would like to continue receiving treatment at VIP, but I need to have confidence that the office will handle billing and insurance matters accurately and responsibly.

Once the shock was over, I insisted that the dentist refer me to the BEST periodontist in the Greater Vancouver area. I didn't care where I had to go, I just had to have the best. I was referred to Dr. Farzin Ghannad. And I can without hesitation and doubt say that Dr. Farzin Ghannad of Vancouver Implant Perio Centre is THE BEST. He did not rush through the consult. He answered all of my questions. He was very clear and offered up all options with pros and cons to each. He was sincere, honest and very personable. In fact, all his staff are courteous and lovely. I've read the horror stories about gum grafts and had friends regale me with their tales of pain etc. I had absolutely none of that (thus far... I'm still in recuperation). But the procedure was quick, Dr. Ghannad was delightful, offering up comforting words of feedback along the way and his genuine care for my well-being shone through. His after care instructions were perfect and the take home kit excellent! I had no pain, and no bleeding after the procedure was complete. So far so good and I've no doubt this trend will continue through my convalescence. If you need a periodontist, please see Dr. Ghannad. He is the best there is. Truly.

So, I was so happy the first time I went to see Dr. Chan because of a cavity but he was so gentle with the freezing injection, that I didn't even feel it. That was a first for me. Since then, he always has the best way of relating to his patients with respect, kindness, understanding and positivity. He knows I have a difficult time with dental work and through every procedure, he lets me know what he is going to do. Sort of like a play-by-play through the whole procedure.
