We came for drinks before a meal elsewhere (I would like to come back here to try their food) and between the stellar view, great service, and delicious cocktails, this is definitely a place to check out if you're in town. I had the Ruby Mule, which was absolutely delicious and if I was also eating, I would have ordered another. it had Rhubarb liqueur, rhubarb simple syrup, vodka, and ginger beer. Soooooooooo I had high hopes for this place but left greatly disappointed in the experience as a whole. First off, the food was bland and needed more flavor. The salad special with goat cheese was by far the best thing we ordered alongside a salmon and schnitzel dish. The service was trash. She barely checked on us and was not too polite or engaging. The ambiance was nice but the place is a bit dated and dingy. You can't beat the views though- they just should clean their windows so patrons can enjoy it more. read more

Nice restaurant where you can see a view of the whole city while dining. The decor is a little outdated, and the dining room has a weird setup. They could remove a table or two and give a better layout. However, the service was attentive and fast. They also have a rooftop terrace where you can dine also, which is cool on a nice weather day. I ordered the small salad and salmon with roasted potatoes. My friend ordered the tuna with mashed potatoes. Our food was delicious, well plated, and a generous portion. Makes it easy to overlook old worn-out chairs. We really enjoyed the food and the quality ingredients. read more

This was such an amazing overall experience! For travelers, the staff speaks both English and German. They are all so friendly and attentive, the view is absolutely stunning, and the food was so delicious and flavorful. By far my favorite meal of my Germany trip!!! The cocktails are tasty too! The view from the top is spectacular. It is definitely a do not miss if you are in Kaiserslautern. It was a little pricey but a fun place to cap off the night. I am only giving this 4 stars because for as empty as the roof top was, the service left a lot to be desired. But if i am ever back in town, I would gladly come back to give it another try. read more

Don't believe the hype. First when we got there, they had us down for the wrong time for our reservation. Then it was so busy we didn't get any menu's until 1hr after were already seated. After we finally received our menus and ordered, we did not receive our food until another hour later because they failed to tell us that our friend had to finish her appetizer before they'll bring out the main course. The rest of is were sitting there starving while she ate. The wait staff was rude but maybe due to it being extremely cramped (over booked). A waitress bumped our table and spill our friend's drink all over the table, and my boyfriend, but didn't bother replacing the wet napkin, the dropped fork and our friend's drink. She didn't even come back to clean the floor. We had to get another waitress to replace all that. When the food finally did walk it's wa to our table, they were luke warm and my duck was over cooked and chewy (this the only meat I eat medium rare) which was very disappointing for me cuz I love duck. I enjoyed being with friends and boyfriend but I will not be coming back here. Oh the view was nice :) PROST!!! read more

Ate here the other night with friends that are stationed at Ramstein. They had been wanting to try this place. I got the lamb (lammkarre) with mixed vegetables and potatoes. The lamb was off-the-chain, but the veggies were bland. For dessert I got ice cream which was okay. Why am I docking stars? The service was just bad. I can't tell you how many times we tried to get the bill, but it took forever. Also, be aware that it is cash only. They have the ability to take a credit card, but it's a fight to get them to take it. read more

We were here for a friend's 21st birthday. (Wasn't that clever?) It was my first visit. I was a little apprehensive as I had read the menu online and just wasn't overwhelmed, still missing the cuisine of the SF Bay Area. I must say, however, I was extremely impressed with everything: service, view, and food. Our group ended up bigger than expected. The friendly waitress had no trouble adjusting our seating accordingly. They were attentive to our wishes and even allowed variations from the menu. The food was also superb. I had the chance to try the Wild garlic soup (very tasty), the tomato soup (also great), and the spaghetti with tomatoes and hot peppers which had a little bite to them. For myself I ordered the mixed asparagus salad which had a delicious dressing. (And I'm a sauce and dressing snob!) My main course was the Japanese pepper steak which had a thai style sweet and hot chili sauce on it and was accompanied by Wasabi mashed potatoes. That was excellent. It's not often that the food is so consistently good in a restaurant that serves such a mixture of dishes domestic and international. And, of course, we should not forget the view. You can see much of Kaiserslautern from the 21st floor while eating and drinking. (The wine list is enjoyable.) read more

The location and view are great. The food, not so much. It was disappointing as the restaurant itself has potential to be great because of the location. Better food would be a game changer. For drinks and the view it may be worth a visit but that is all. Parking and getting to the elevator was a bit of a search as the building is co located with the Rathaus. read more

Have been to 21 many times. It's changed owners and menus over the years, but through all that, it's still one of the nicer establishments in the area. It's a little bit pricey, but they offer a nice special menu with lots of seasonal selections aside from their standard menu. The servers have been kind and attentive even during their busy hours. Overall I would recommend for a special occasion. read more

So I totes went here on a Friday evening. Bustling little place. The balcony view is pretty legit for a small town like ktown. Sit down. Order drinks. I'm here on a Friday evening, so that means I'm thinking get wasted fast and keep it going all night. Nope. These drinks, although adequate, aren't strong enough to tranquilize even an infant. Also a little pricier than bar prices. Order food. The spaghetti. It's pretty good, like super fresh and al dente good. The problem? I wasn't wasted and the portion was maybe 2 cups worth. For you ladies, this is an excellent portion of you looking for a moderate meal. For you dudes, this cannot nourish the muscles demanded in lovemaking. Do not order this dish. What is usually a great patio cocktail bar... When coming for dinner, even with a reservation for four of us, we waited 45 minutes just for water and our bottle of prosecco. We even ordered our starter as soon as we got in because we were starving. And didn't get any food for at least 30 after the drinks. When food came we ordered another bottle right away since we realized the service was terrible, and they brought that quick about the same time the started came, but wrong type of water... It's now 2.15 h into the meal and still no mains. Not sure if it's a the kitchen or management, but I am not very impressed at this point. The view from the place was excellent. We didn't have reservations, so could not sit down by the window, but enjoyed it nevertheless. The food was tremendous. The steak dish, with the gravy, was some of the best I've eaten lately. My wife had the salmon and cod salad, it was great also. Menu was in English also, but concentrate on the specials. read more

The terrace, cocktails (EUR5-9), lounge and bar entice an eclectic crowd and host occasional parties that run well into the night. Stave off the hangover by filling up on the Mediterranean menu, daily seasonal card and finger food (EUR3-18).
