Scam! My Father and Mother were scammed they took multiple boxes of DVDs to sell and they offered them $14 dollars for two full boxes of DVDs. That is over 50 DVDs in total. My parents didn't know what to do other than to take the money because they are in dire need of help. They called me in tears telling me what happened. I would never recommend this store to anyone. When I called the store originally they sounded very promising and that is why I originally sent them over there. They are a bunch of talk and the worst people you can imagine. The employees are great and very kind but they need to organize the Used book section better, at the very least they should be separated by genre. It's so overwhelming to see that immense wall of crammed used books that have no rhyme or reason to how it's organized. I went in earlier this week after seeing on their website that one of my favorite books was available in-store used. Total rip off when you bring books in to trade. They give you basically .25 for a paperback maybe more for a hardback. The employees who work there are quite rude, with attitude. No one else in line, 3 employees sitting around and took 1.5 hours for them to look at 5 books. Prices on used books are expensive and hard backs even more. They rely on the games, current fads (harry Potter type) and more of that nature for their sales. Cookbooks are really expensive. Better pricing on Amazon. I have begun to refer to 2nd and Charles as the can't store. The customer service is lacking, the have an excuse for everything. Don't buy a 2nd hand book from 2nd and Charles if there is any water damage to the book. Alley who is the buy back manager will not buy back a book if it has water damage! 2nd and Charles will sell you the book with water damage! Also there signs on the walls are meaningless. I went in yesterday the sign says you can drop off up to 3 bins, but no they will only take 2???? I will be taking my business to another 2nd hand store going forward!!! read more

I'm not impressed at all. Their prices are quite high, but they give you mere pennies on books you bring in to sell. I mean books in perfect shape that cost new about $12-15, yet they give you less than $1.00. I will donate my books to the library after this. read more

Some things to help you out inside the store: Storefront: A sizable kids section in far right corner from the entrance. Books, games, puzzles, toys. Lego table close by, containing loose Legos for purchase by the ounce. A digital catalog is available to employees, but due to the "thrift store" nature of the store - lots of items coming and going quickly - it is not always reliable, but it is often a helpful tool. Most items have a "used item" sticker - large and white with an orange strip on top. Some items have tiny white stickers instead - these are "new items" and they are more expensive. If you can't find a sticker, it has probably fallen off and staff can price-check it at the registers. Most new releases do not come in the day of release. If they get them in at all, it will be afterward unless someone is really quick with read/trade-in, which happens. But usually not the place to look for a book that came out yesterday. My favorite things to buy here are used hardcover books, Funko Pops, and used video games. Great deals on games for older consoles, most Xbox 360/PS3 titles are $5-10. Bathrooms: In the far left corner from the entrance, hug the left-hand wall until you get there. Two gender-neutral, single-toilet rooms. Both rooms have baby changing tables. Returns: If you had your receipt and you're getting your return put back on your card, it'll take 2-3 days for it to be spendable in your bank account. Buyback: A drivers license/govt ID with address is needed to sell to the store. You must be over 18 or with a parent/guardian with an ID to sell your items. The store follows federal pawn shop laws. The license is used to create a profile for you which keeps track of your store credit. Store credit never expires and is usable nationwide. Payout options include cash, store credit, or you can decline the offer and get your items back. Store credit offer is usually around double the cash offer. Buyback is percentage-based from what the store will price the item at. Item pricing is mostly done by a computer program - extra research is done on items like Funko Pops, comic books, certain books, etc. using the internet. The best payout percentages right now seem to be on vinyl records (vinyl need to have inner sleeve or they will be returned) and Pokémon cards. (Loose Pokémon and Magic the Gathering cards are bought in bulk, but they are not always purchasing cards, so call ahead) An example estimate from buyback: Five hardcovers and six paperbacks will get you around $7 cash, $15 store credit. Items that are generally not accepted: Spiral-bound books, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, dictionaries/excessively large books, Harlequin/Silhouette romances, textbooks, magazines, PC games. Outdated health/diet/cookbooks (10 years). Outdated yearly sport video games (5 years). Most often, these items will be returned to you. Most of these rules are because these items don't sell/take up too much space in the store. If you have any personal information stamped/stickered/written inside your DVD cases and book covers, they will not be removed by staff before the item is made available for purchase to the public, so if that matters to you, take care of it beforehand. Checking Out: You will be asked about the magazine program. A free trial for two months of some big-name magazines. But with any free trial, you have to remember to cancel it before you're charged. I cancelled my trial online the day I signed up. Got my free two months, no problem. If you're not a magazine person, "no thank you". The Buyback desk has closed early before for various reasons, (though not often) so if you're traveling from far away to do a buyback order, it might be a good idea to call the store just to make sure. There is usually a 10% off coupon available through the text-to-mobile program, although I think you can only get it once. Text FTCOLLINS to 52219 and reply "yes" to the message to get sent a link. Tapping on the link will pull up a barcode to be scanned at the register. Cell service is iffy on this side of the shopping plaza, so maybe grab a screenshot of the barcode before you go. read more

Very pricey secondhand books in the $10 to $12 range for paperbacks. I took $500 worth of mint condition books for trade and received $25 in trade or $14 cash. Very cheap offers. I will never take in trade books there again. Once I get a book and my wife gets a book out $25 will be spent and we will not be customers ever again. read more

Absolutely horrible. All of the staff were extremely rude and acted like they didn't want to help us at all. We had multiple (essentially new) books to sell and a few puzzles and even though their queue of trade ins wasn't long, we were told there would be over an hour wait. After waiting an hour, we had to look up at a tiny screen that said our number was ready for our trade in quote. No text message, email, or anything. We arrived at the trade in desk and were given a whopping $2.02 for all of our books and puzzles. Absolutely ridiculous for how much they are going to turn around and sell them for. I made a visit to this chain "thrift" (haha, autocorrected to theft) store recently. It's large, like close to big box large, and while I can't complain about the selection, the buyback policy is extremely cheap. I was offered $1.35 for about 25 hardcover books (markup to ~$7.00, so that's about 1000 % gross for them). Talk about a racket. The staff was friendly enough to me, so the other reviews about rudeness seem to be more about damaged people not getting their asses massaged then the actual experience. If you are going there to sell your stuff and make loads of money, you're there for the wrong reason. Your stuff is always worth more to you than anyone else, and it is NEVER worth what you paid for it new when you sell it as used. This store is all about having fun while shopping and finding interesting things. You can browse vinyl records, books, DVDs, CDs, and all kinds of other things in one place. If you want to make money selling your second-hand stuff, then put it on eBay. If you want to just clean out those closets and bookshelves and get the stuff out of your way, this is the place to take it. Okay store, but don't be fooled by "cheaper" and used. Most things are actually new and over priced. highway robbery with a smile. was told on phone I'd get at least 30% of ppg value of my funko pops back in cash if I sold them ,then I pack my truck up with 101 pops and dropped them off and they called the next day with the value they offered ....$265!!! my pops value 2000 and where in pop protectors and in amazing condition. NEVER sell your pops there. the lead trade in person told me today that i would get 15% of their value. and then they put them on the shelfs at near full ppg value. Went here to browse and sell some books. I was offered $2 for a whole bag of books in new condition while they are selling similar used books in the shelves for full price. Also didn't find anything while browsing due to it being more expensive than buying new. Great concept but definitely needs some work. read more

The business model here baffles me. They have innumerable items purchased from people that just continue to pile up and pile up for months. Meanwhile, no items are priced or put out to be sold. I noticed literally almost no new items for months and asked when the HUGE amount of bins would be put out. SEVERAL employees told me they are getting around to it but don't know when it will happen. They have said this for many months now. I'm quickly losing interest in visiting this store. read more

I came to post a one-star review, and see that others have beaten me to it. The staff is rude and spends their time gossiping (you can hear them on the floor), the books and records aren't organized in any way that allows customers to find what they want, or even browse efficiently. This store could be great, but needs a manager with even a bit of vision and employees who care. My guess is they have a lot of employee turnover (it happens in a college town), and haven't found a way to attract adults who are actually interested in working in the book store/record store field. I didn't read the reviews until just now, but I couldn't agree more. Do not sell your books here. I would have felt much better donating my books. The money offered for the books was equal to a tiny fraction of the price for which the books can now be sold. And also, yes, while not all of the staff were unfriendly, some were, with little to no customer service or people skills. Not the best business strategy. I'm a bit old-school and still like physical media, so when I heard about a big box store selling used (cheap) books, music and movies I was excited. At first glance the place is awesome--spacious, modern, comfortable. But as you start to browse you find it's not as organized as it appears. The main area of books is OK. Sectioned by genre then alphabetized, but the north wall is just hundreds of random books in no order at all. The CDs are worse. They are lined up in bins, but there's no rhyme or reason to any of it. They don't even face the same direction. After a few minutes I was frustrated and gave up. A knowledgeable person could organize the music in a few hours improving things immensely. Then browsing would be fun. I hope they can find the right employees and then give them time to sort everything. This place COULD be really cool. read more

They "forgot" to remove my in-store credit when they apparently converted into a cash offer, so the next time I visited the store they informed me I had in-store credit I could use for my purchase. I went ahead and used the credit to buy my son a video game accessory, even after that they couldn't explain where the credit came from when I asked multiple times. After getting home I got a call from the store manager who is very rude and condescending, accusing me of basically stealing and said I needed to come back and pay for the items I purchased using the in-store credit. Do not try and trade at this store. They give you nothing for your items and then expect you to be happy about it. Only got less than 50cents for books and DVDs. Then you have to create an account and fill out a bunch of forms. WASTE OF TIME. read more
