However, my friend and I happened to pass by the factory when we were on our way to another destination, so we decided to stop in to see the factory. The factory itself isn't that big (takes about a few seconds to see the whole thing). Because we saw the ladies wrapping the freshly made queijadas, we decided to order some coffee and try the queijadas there. The difference in the texture and taste of the freshly made queijadas vs the one I bought at the cafe (also from this factory) was HUGE! The freshly made one tasted delicious! Highly recommend coming here to try this Portuguese pastry with some coffee! You won't regret it!

These little dense egg yolk cakes are a yummy sweet breakfast and a specialty of the island that all visitors need to try. The queijadas were delicious and we came back another day for more and to buy a box to bring home (sold in souvenir boxes of 6 or 12). This place may be cash only, not completely sure. When we were there at 9am when they first opened we were able to watch the staff wrapping all the individual queijadas. There was also a big bus of tourists that was dropped off right at 9am and they flooded in the small place to all buy pastries, so keep that in mind when planning your stop here - not sure if this is something that happens every morning. You order everything at the counter and there are a few tables inside and some tables out on the patio as well. When I went back it was around 2 pm and there were only a few other people there.

We ordered the prosciutto sandwich and roasted vegetable omelette with goat cheese, both of which were incredibly fresh tasting and bursting with flavor. While both items were fantastic, what stood out to me was the delicious bread which was pillowy soft, chewy and was the perfect vehicle to soak up the farm fresh egg yolks on the sandwich and to pair with the goat cheese and herbal elements of the omelette. We also got a glass of orange, carrot and ginger juice which was freshly whipped up with the Zumex-style citrus juicer located inside the shop. To finish off our hearty breakfast, I got an almond and ginger tart to go that was simply amazing! The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the almond slices paired beautifully with the subtle ginger notes of the pastry~ 5/5 yumminess Both outdoor and indoor seating is available, but we opted for the latter to avoid the cigarette smoke from passersby plus you get the added bonus of watching their chef cook through the big glass window to their kitchen! The owner is an interesting chatty gentleman with very strong political views (the shop is decked out in Bitcoin propaganda) and he told us they maintain a strictly 2-person operation to ensure that the food is prepared up to their meticulous standards. Overall despite the higher-than-average prices, you cant go wrong with INTZ48 for a deliciously satisfying and filling brunch with very high quality and farm-to-fork ingredients. Sao Miguel is known worldwide for its fantastic bread and cheese and this is a great place to sample those together!

With its live piano music and soft European decor, it's on the more romantic side. If you're here with friends, you may have to try to keep your voice lower, so conversations wouldn't be the most comfortable. But we made it work! If you want a more open and less hush-hush atmosphere, inside is an option, where it's more social and artsy. The food is outstanding. My friend got the octopus and she said it was the best she's ever had. I wish I got what she got! Another friend got the risotto (vegetarian option) and she loved that. I got the ceviche because I wasn't that hungry, but I thought it was delicious and better than any ceviche I had in Peru. It's a small portion, but it's just an appetizer. We finished with chocolate ice cream covered with peanuts, always a winner! The service was good. The manager checked on us and made sure everything was fine. Our dishes took an extra long time to arrive, but we dealt with it, and it seems like that's the norm in Azores. So don't come here expecting a rushed meal. Take your time at Singular and enjoy!

Also, although fresh waffles were available at breakfast, it was difficult to find a server to prepare them during our five day stay (required, no self service permitted). At lunch, we ordered breaded fried squid - ordinary, although not tough, but with an excellent fresh tomato dipping sauce. The Palm Terrace Cafe is situated next to a very attractive public park with a gorgeous blue Jacaranda tree. However, it is a public park and, unfortunately, one afternoon there was a young man who hung out there who started begging in an intrusive manner aimed at the Palm Terrace Cafe clients. The young woman serving at the Palm Terrace that afternoon did a good job chasing him off.
