Our situation was different in that it was not obligatory for my sibling, but was decided by the judge and the police for the safety of all parties. From what we were told and what we saw, it was not like the stories that were shared. However, everyone had their own options and how they see and felt things differently. I tried to ignore the reviews because people usually only review when they are mad and places like this aren't perfect. BUT, they are all true. My child was here for 5 days with ZERO communication from the staff. I called daily, multiple times a day. When someone actually answered they "didn't know anything". Apparently the psychiatrist is only there for like 2-3 hours and is too busy to take calls during that time and will NOT call you back. left many messages. The social worker, I left her many messages too and only heard back from her when I got the call that could pick up my child. The doctor only asked the same set of questions daily, yet somehow was able to diagnose my kid. How can you diagnose anyone when you spend less than 5minutes a day with them? One day finally lost my cool, after 10 calls, I finally got someone to answer. Like said, lost my cool and said was going to call the state, the house, and the CEO if wasn't able to talk to someone about my child. She had been there 3.5 days and we hadn't talked to anyone and didn't know how long she was going to be there or anything. This Woman basically told me to calm down because she had only been at work for 10 minutes and didn't even know who my kid was. And guess what, she didn't know anything and the doctor had already left and the social worker wasn't there. I wanted to transfer My child but needed to give them permission to talk to this facility...guess who had to clear that with? Yep, the two people couldnt reach. They refused to talk to my child's therapist and her pediatrician saying they didn't have jurisdiction (turns out, that's not legal) My child has hearing aids and gets overwhelmed by loud crowds. She asked if she could go to her room before it got too overwhelming (the kids were in one big room just hanging out and were loud). The guy told her to "just take the hearing aids out". Who suggests taking a medically necessary device out? She said she never learned anything from any of the groups or dr. Thankfully she did pick up a few things from the other children there. They helped her tremendously. She said the place is disgusting. Trash everywhere and they really only mop the floors. No other cleaning is done. The showers are lukewarm at best and the bathrooms are so disgusting that she didn't want to use them. When the other reviews say it's like jail, it is. They are pretty much just babysitting these kids to make sure they dont hurt themselves instead actually trying to help. She said there were multiple nurses who would argue and fight with the kids. One of them was so mean that my child literally had a panic attack when the nurse was arguing with another child. My child has never had a panic attack before in her life! She said this nurse also would single out girls for "breaking rules", but the rules were never broken. (Example: she made one girl change for wearing leggings, but all the girls there were wearing them). There were a few really great nurses there though. She mentioned Mrs. Ruth and Mamma Sha as being really nice and helpful. Other than that, she said the staff ignored you and didn't talk to you. I'm floored by how easily they were able to steal my child (we went from the ER, so that made it involuntary) and keep her without telling us a single thing. The only Communication we received was the call to come get her. One phone call to tell us what was going on and what they were doing would have made a huge difference. Turns out, they did blood work and we were never told! She never should have been there as long as she was. She said she appreciates getting to know the other children there and hearing their stories because she has a better appreciation for her life, but she is very traumatized by how everything happened. This place is really bad. I went in terrible. I got threatened multiple times. They put the suicide and the wanting to kill everybody in the same rooms very bad I had to be moved multiple times because of people wanted to threaten me or hurt me I got jumped multiple times in the nurses did not do a single thing. They just stood by and watched The food is terrible doctors do not care about you. They will give you the wrong diagnosis and overdue you on medication they will sedate you for an absolutely no reason just for sticking up for yourself and knowing that you do not need that type of medication. they will completely ignore your help, and I had to be moved to a separate room in the comments area in flex and the girl who was trying to threaten me and another girl. She was just walking along the door banging on the windows, the nurse is just stood by. They didn't shut the door or anything and at one point the girl ran into the room and tried to hit us, and then the nurse finally was like oh maybe we should actually help so then we had to get moved to a back room just with a solitude and everything and then they finally let us out and brought us to a different unit where I had other people who had beef with me, so I just stayed quiet and hung out with the girl terrible place do not recommend never send your kids here. You will come home with missing stuff people threatening you try to hurt you. They will not help you. The staff will trauma dump on you. I went to the er with anxiety and panic attacks. I had moved to another state and had trouble coping with the change, after over 50 years surrounded by my family and long time friends. The nurse asked slot of p questions, which I told them my situation. She then asked me, " Do you go to bed and wish and don't want to wake up?" I said sure, who hasn't felt that way. DONE, I was involuntary committed to Three Rivers. OMG, what a nightmare! I was already in a vulnerable state. I get there and I'm stripped searched, try put a GPS monitor on my wrist, rooms are locked, bathrooms are locked and you have to ask the people in the "gray uniforms" to use the bathroom. I'm with sexual predators, homicidal maniacs, drug addicts. Everyone was drugged and and sleeping all over the place. No tv, no books, nothing. I saw the psycharist the next day and he moved me to another unit. Same thing, except the nurses were better. The assistants? Awful! I accidentally spilled cup of water all over me and I asked for pants. She said they didn't have any. Really, you just gave one to the person in front of me! I would never ever wish my experience on anyone. Not only am I in counseling for my issue, but I was so traumatized. I needed help with my horrific experience. The worse thing is, there is no humanity, respect or consideration. Talk about taking your self esteem! I am going to file a complaint with the state. It truly needs to be investigated. read more

My daughter was sent to three rivers to learn coping mechanisms for PTSD due to being a s/a victim, this place was no help at all. When I went to visit her this place was very nasty! The floor was very sticky, by my daughter's 2nd day due to it, it was so bad she asked a staff member for a stack of cleansing wipes. The staff allowed her to use them and gave her gloves, she got on her hands and knees attempting to clean. By time she got near done with the back corner and under the table a janitor did come in, but she only dust mopped the place (no water, no cleansing spray). My daughter also cried her first 2 nights there, she went to the front desk (nurse station as it was called) crying wanting someone to talk to. They spoke to her for a moment then allowed her to just stand there, almost like she wasn't even there. My daughter went back to her room crying, they come check on the kids every 15 minutes, my daughter crying in her room was ignored. She says they did a whole 3 rounds before she was able to stop crying and the nurse/tech acted as if they didn't even notice, that is around 45 minutes of my daughter crying being ignored! The staff were also very argumentative with patients. for example a staff named Laura (Ms.L) was arguing with a girl due to her being rude and having a bad attitude, that night got so out of hand that a girl had a panic attack also leading others to get into out of hand arguments, 3 girls were sedated that night and the girl it all started with was moved to the flex unit (when being sedated you are given a shot in the arm or butt) it would apparently make the patient high and they would be asleep in the next 20 minutes or so, my daughter also says that they seemed to be really thirsty before falling asleep. My daughter also has G.I. issues and has to take medication pretty much as soon as she wakes up or she will be very nauseous and sometimes will throw up, it took till the day before she left for them to get her medication in order (she was there for 6 days when my husband and I were told 72 hours with the option to sign her out), which was not true because it was ordered by a judge making it a involuntary stay. There were also these group "therapy" things where kids had to read along papers with the techs and times having to answer questions, my daughter told me one of the options for coping mechanisms was protected sex!? This was very shocking due to some of the kids being there as s/a victims who the f**k recommends that with as young as 11 year olds in the unit... There was also this very sweet autistic girl who was so very mistreated. They would allow her to go a whole week without showering. She was also promised on a Tuesday she would be leaving the next day, she didn't. She was told on Wednesday "tomorrow" then Thursday "tomorrow", she left early that Friday. That Thursday she began to get very frustrated and started walking around yelling "I wanna go home" and was hitting walls, instead of attempting to calm her down they let it carry on, when it got to a point they sedated her in front of everyone. The social worker for my daughter and her friend had never even spoken to them, she told me she had spoken to my daughter but when I asked my daughter she said that she never did get to talk to her... they were both assigned a new case worker. My daughter came home with a fever of 102.5. I took her to urgent care and she tested positive for the flu. Dr. Malone told my daughter she wasn't sick and did nothing for her. The staff knew a child had the flu and didn't quarantine the poor child to prevent others from getting sick too, and considering the nature of this place I highly doubt they took proper care of her. My daughter says the 2 very nice techs Ruth and Mama Sha as she was called were very kind and helpful to the kids, the rest were very rude and argumentative. My daughter told me how she was in a worse state of mind being there than what she was before showing up, this place is horrible!! Her clothes were also stolen the day of her discharge . She didn't get her piercings back but did get her necklaces back(I believe that they gave the necklace's back because they were fake, but her piercings were not). There was also "FTR" written all over the walls (f**k three rivers). One of the nicer staff Mama sha is opening a facility of her own if it is opend by the time your reading this and you have choice I would definitely recommend her. read more

One of the worst experiences in my life. I thought I was going to see a doctor not put into a mental intuition. I was hear for like three weeks and they would not release me. They told me I had to stay until the agreed upon time. I NEVER AGREED TO BE THERE. The medication they were giving me does nothing but destroy your body and make you feel unhuman. While we were doing group, the nurses would be on their phones. When there were code blues and whites they would just walk. I came here during a mental health crisis seeking help. The woman who did my intake assessment was nice, thorough, and flexible with finding the best option for me. I came in the next day for my first day of PHP. The group leader, Virginia Brooks is amazing. She's so, so understanding, caring, and laid back. It was 100% obvious from the start that she truly wanted the best for me and every other patient in our group. If this was just a review for her, I would give her 5 stars! However, I only met with a psychiatrist there once, and he seemed to dismiss my concerns about how bad of a state I was in. I told him my meds weren't working and he just increased the dose. It was fine temporarily, but not the help I needed at the time. The group lessons were sometimes repetitive and felt more like school, but it depended on who was teaching them. To some extent, you get out what you put in. All of the staff I encountered was compassionate, helpful, and professional, which I really appreciated. Overall, my time in PHP was a little stagnant, but definitely helped me some, especially thanks to Virginia. read more

The staff view issues/concerns one sided (their side), the director is racist and misogynistic (which trickles down to the staff). The Nurse Practitioner is rude and abrasive which is not conducive to promoting a healing environment. The faculty is money motivated not therapy/healing motivated. I can not give this place enough -stars...We picked our son up today.He was there for 8 days.Today is my 1st time in the area the kids were allowed.This place is dirty & it smells horrible..All my son did was fight..They put all these boys with mental issues in 1 area..Recipe for disaster.Our son had more fights in this 8 days than he's had in his 11 years on earth.He's come home with worth habits..They hardly answer the phone.Communication is horrible.The social worker doesn't return phone calls ,spoke to the psychiatrist 1 time.And that was after i threatened with an attorney for them to see my son so he could get his medication managed & come home.I will never send my child back to this place.I don't advise anyone else to either.They also don't honor the evening phone schedule that the kids are allowed from 6-8:30..They don't give meds on time & then wonder why the kids are off the chain & fighting..They definitely need to do better.. read more

I am a supervisor at a healthcare advocacy that fights for patients' rights. A new client was a patient in the Three Rivers Behavior Health's alcohol detox "program." What a charade! The place should be shuttered for malpractice. She detoxed for over 11 hours without a doctor's supervision while imprisoned on a locked psych ward. She checked into the facility at 10 am and was not treated until 9:30 PM when the sole doctor assigned to the unit visited. During that time, she was refused access to her meds and wasn't given anti-convulsant drugs to keep her from having seizures. She vomited in the sink in her room, and the nurse told her to "save it next time" so the nurse could look at it. The patient, who voluntarily entered the program, was assigned a suicidal woman for a room mate who was brought in by police in shackles. She said that she and the other "inmates" killed bugs in the one common area. The food bordered on dangerous -- extremely high in fat and salt, which seems crazy for a hospital-affiliated unit. My company is national in scope, so we've see our fair share of nasty treatment facilities. I wouldn't have booked my neighbor's cat into that place to ween it off of catnip. They lock you up at this place and throw away the key. Unless you don't have a choice (you're involuntarily committed), RUN THE OTHER WAY! The place should be condemned, and the healthcare providers sued for malpractice. P.S. They sent her two more bills after her insurance paid! Beware of fraudulent billing practices! read more

My daughter was attacked by another patient and knocked unconscious. The staff did nothing to separate the instigator from any of the other patients. By 9am this patient had started two fights! Multiple trained staff members could not keep a child from attacking other children. I had to call the police to escort my child out of the facility. I had to take her to a doctor upon leaving to be treated. This place is not safe. No real treatment occurs here. My daughter has celiac disease and cannot eat wheat. Three Rivers did not accommodate with any gluten free options. I do not understand how this organization is still in operation. I have reported the facility and several incidences to the joint commission and police. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. After being admitted involuntary and finally being released I feel as though my life has been stolen. The I don't have the ability yet to remember the life I have lived except for moments that I can't tie together yet. I have lost my marriage, wages I can't calculate yet and to be honest, they should start sending people home in coffins. That's about what you can expect. Any trace of your past and being able to just do normal things, they take those for what I feel like could be forever. Very poorly run and if you have a family member or friend that needs help, send them to prison. They might come out a human being again instead of with a brain that's like Swiss cheese. I came to Three Rvers distraught and asking for help. I was told of their intensive outpatient program and since I had been in such a program at another facility and had wonderful results I was thrilled to get into their program.The next day I attended the program full of hope but that didn't last long. The facilitator gave me the impression that he would rather be anywhere else than at work. He fairly oozed insincerity. Shortly after I arrived I was summoned by the medical doctor for my initial physical exam. He seemed irritated for what reason I have no idea. The doctor was very condescending when I attempted to lighten up the situation by trying to inject some levity he immediately let me know in no uncertain terms that he really didn't appreciate that. So back to the "therapy" session. When I returned to the group they were taking turns going over their forms that they had filled out to state how they were feeling that day. When it was my turn I went over my form and then I was asked to say a bit about why I was there. When I attempted to tell about recent trauma, I was cut off by the facilitator midway through the conversation. A lady stated that she felt suicide was "stupid" which is something I agree with but I totally understand that some people would take it the wrong way but it wasn't handled because it was now lunch time. After lunch the group began verbally attacking the lady who gave her opinion on suicide. Initially the facilitator appeared to attempt to defuse the situation but eventually just started to agree with the attackers at which time the lady who had started the discussion was obviously upset and bewildered at the turn of events. The discussion devolved into a shouting match at which time most of the patients just got up and left. Three Rivers presents a great picture of what they offer but when the rubber meets the road the program is nothing but a sham to generate revenue. I have seen proper therapy and this doesn't resemble therapy. When I called back to ask for some clarity I was told that "things just happen" and when I expressed my disappointment in their program I was hung up on TWICE. Nobody even bothered to follow up with me as to whether I was ok or not. This place is DANGEROUS! read more

This place is something akin to a prison. On average, the nurses, techs, social workers, cafeteria and custodians are kind and defy the corporatization and mismanagement to help the inmates, but the constant cost-cutting, out of touch management, and degrading rules and treatment have ruined three rivers. when I called Three river to let them know my daughter (22) was about to arrive by ambulance and advise what to do when I meet her there, I heard someone screaming from the distance like there was an attack happening. The person that I was talking on the phone to hung up on me ( I assume so I could not hear what was happening) upon my daughter's check-in I asked the staff checking her in to please make sure my babygirl is safe and she assured me she was safe. 3 days later another patient grabbed my daughter by the hair and punched her in the face out of nowhere with no warning. The patient is known to be violent! The staff apologized and said things like that happen at places like this. That is unacceptable! People go there for help! NOT to be attacked! The worst part is they would not allow me to discharge her or see her until visitation. The hospital ER that she originally went to on her own to get help transferred her there. I had no say on anything. My daughter is well behaved and never got in trouble and doesn't even take drugs. She saught help and it has been a total nightmare. read more

My experience with this place was far less than poor. It was down right horrible. My daughter was traumatized during her week long stay here. She left worse off than when she arrived, they said she didn't belong there and gave her no diagnosis. Therefore, in 3 months time her symptoms worsened and I demanded another facility and now we are great! This place is horrible. There was no COVID testing and when I asked, they treated me like an alien. I was told her stay was at no cost. Then at discharge, was handed a bill for more than $2500. The administration needs to be aware of what the staff are doing and make some serious changes. I would not send a snake to this place. I generally don't write such things, but in this case, something needs to be done. No state funding should ever be provided to support whatever this is that they are doing. I would ask questions about my daughter's progress and get attitude and defensiveness. Pardon me, but if you have my 11 year old child, I have a right to ask and be informed of any changes and updates. I asked that she not receive a medication labeled as needed and they said they would discontinue the medication. When she returned home, she told me they FORCED her to take the medication. What a travesty. We actually deserve a refund for the lack of treatment our child received here. As a parent, even in an emergency, I urge you to advocate for some place else. I wish I would have known how bad 3 rivers has gotten. It use to not be a bad place about a decade ago. My mom 55 got sent there and is currently there instead of where I am at about an hour and half away due to non compliance in the past. I didn't get a choice on where she got sent because of it. However, I worry for my mom. My Aunt just got off the phone with her, and she didn't hang up and just said she had to go. In the background, all my Aunt could hear was cussing and fighting going on. I called the nurse, but luckily, she was not involved. There were two people she was in between. My mom deserves treatment. This will only set her back to be around this atomosphere. She has a sharp tongue but can not fight. I fear for her, and she still has until next Thursday before her court hearing. I pray nothing happens between now and then. If this were Darlington, might I add the treatment wasn't as well, but at least I didn't have to worry rather or not she was going to survive. This is scary to me! I only give them 3 stars or else there would have been none. This is only because they aren't budging, and making her put in the work to get her better with outpatient treatment she will be court ordered to do. So now as an only child I can take care of my kids and not have to worry as much. But this place has done a 360 compared to 12 or 13 years ago and not in a good way. read more

back in 2017-2018 i ended up here. i was molested by fellow teens and staff did nothing. there was a lice outbreak and they decided to quarantine our clothes, so we had to wear our current clothes for 2-3 days. staff was terrible, shoveling meds down your throat until you're just good enough to go home. i made one friend and after staff noticed we were forming a friendship they put us on "boundaries" so we couldn't even talk to each other. the therapist was terrible, staff had no regards for the children. i have never felt more alone and isolated. 0/10. if you love your kids do not send them here. read more

This place has violated my son's rights as a patient and my rights as the parent of a minor. He was admitted from the hospital ER. No one told me that I could be there for my son thru admitting. No one explained the process to me UNTIL I called and threatened to come down there with the police. No one told me they were getting a court ordered commitment for my child, nor what the implications would be. They held my child for 5 hours while I called around trying to find out where he was. No one would speak with me other than to give me general center info, nor would anyone confirm my son was even there! I was told a social worker would call me in a couple hours... that was Thursday at 2 pm. It is Friday at 5:30pm and I was told that the social worker will call me on Monday. I have yet to speak with a doctor or nurse about my sons treatment plan. They lost my son's blood work from his intake, then lied to me and told me the hospital sent the incorrect results. And if that's not bad enough... instead of calling and getting the results, they want to just stick my son again. ("That's the easiest way" I was told... Easy for who?!? You lying, lazy, cheating... I'm sure insurance is getting billed for another useless test ) They did not tell me there was a phone list and if my number isn't on it, my son can't call me. When I called to have my name added to the list, I was told sometimes kids don't want to speak with their parents... give me a break. When I finally did speak with him, he told me every request he made to call me was denied, INCLUDING during intake. We're two days in and I have no idea what my son's treatment plan is. This place has taken a depressed teen who had a suicide attempt and terrified him, putting his anxiety thru the roof for an entire day before he ever even saw a doctor. It doesn't matter my backstory. I admitted myself Vaulentary bc LMN doc watched cartoons and his watch while I tried to tell him my symptoms. LEFT THERE AND WENT TO 3 RIVERS Well they decide where I go, I say my goodbyes bc they say it could be several days, I'm ready and willing until I start seeing a male patient just staring me down along with a few others including female. I just get an uneasy feeling that if something did happen well all the staff and nurses are all located at the front desk talking and having a good time. They are too far away to help fast enough. I mentioned to a nurse that I was feeling that way and she said the person was ok and then (SHIFT CHANGE!) You ask one nurse can i please have a pad or a tampon, bc you took everthing from me, and she brings you an adult diaper... You wait and ask a different nurse to bring something that is not so embarrassing... another diaper. "That's all they can find" they said. Well there was one nurse and I couldn't hold it back anymore. Please get me out of this diaper and let me feel like a woman in 2015! She found exactly what I needed in 5 mins. My husband packed me a bag at 11am, followed all directions and I never got my bag until I left the facility vaulentary around 8 hours later. I was supposed to be checked on every 15 mins for mine and other patients safety, that DID NOT HAPPEN! THE WALL LIGHTERS FOR PAITENTS THAT ARE FOR SMOKERS ARE NEGLECTED. MY OPINION A HEALTH HAZARD. EVERYBODY STICK YOUR FACE IN THE ONE 5 INCH SPOT AND BREATH IN. Im not doing this for me. I'm doing this bc I listened to the patients during my very short time there, while all the nurses laughed and had a good old time at the front desk. I KNOW THE STAFF NEEDS UPLIFTMENT FOR THEMSELFS AND THE PAITENTS THEY CARE FOR. (Comments from patients) "We could use some color in this group therapy room" "Yeah, it's kinda nasty, but that's what we got" "The nicer you are to them and tell them what they want to hear the faster you will get out" This is a facility that I believe means well, but is falling behind. I put this on yelp bc to file a complaint with them they will run you in circles for days. Three Rivers I'm sure you help alot of people but have you checked to see how many you have hurt? My God. I was on my way to the dentist with a failed implant, oral thrush and a broken toe. Looked a sight! I was driving a nice Volvo. I'm a normal person, I belong to a country club and I play tennis. I have a husband. I'm 61 years old and a pretty nice lady, I'm told. I've had a bunch of speeding tickets in my life. Never been arrested. Don't drink. The rest is a nightmare. A check out girl at a grocery store I stopped at, I think, reported me to whomever for who knows what. I was forced into an ambulance, taken to LMH doped with shots and taken to Three Rivers last Dec. I wasnt allowed to phone my dentist or my husband until I'd been gone from home 4 days. They didn't believe I had a dentist appointment. I was treated like a street person. The ambulance men treated me like I was a non person and I have NEVER been so humiliated, scared, or confused. I told them if I needed medical care, I'd seek it myself. My family takes care of me, not the darn State. I figured that this was all about money, so I told them I had no insurance. Then, they got excited when they found my insurance card. Wish I could type all that happened, but I was accused of being psychotic and having seizures and YES, they said I had amphetamines and coke in my system. Idiots, I've taken Ritalin for ADHD for years. And yeah, So WHAT if I took a line of coke. I'm over 21. And I'd do it again if I wanted to. Funny, I Googled it. Said it stays in your system 3-4 days. It had been 7'days. Three Rivers asked me what my drug of choice was. I told them I didn't have one. Wrong! They said I was 'poly-addicted'. Kept me 5 days so I could DETOX. From WHAT, I asked. Noting they didn't give me special meds for detox, like everyone else... Long story. Lexington Hpspital billed my insurance for $15,000 (for 1.5 days). My insurance PAID THESE CROOKS., EVEN WHEN I TOLD THEM What happened. Their reasoning was 'they have a contract with us'. Duh? I'll-gotten gains, or what? The idiots at Three Rivers billed them for $10,000. They paid them, too. Of course, leaving balances each of about $2,000-$3,000 for me. I currently have a credit rating of about 850+. They will not see a dime from me. Quite a convenient way to raise $$. LMH is the ONLY hospital in the system THAT OPERATES IN THE BLACK. Y'all. I've talked to several lawyers. The Big One (everyone knows Jack) told me that it was NOT worth it and he'd hate to see them embarrass me. No, this is war, I told him. It's gonna be fun! To top it off, TWO items of clothing were stolen from me while in Three Rivers. I have copies and I'm going to try to post pictures of the paperwork on Yelp when I'm done. 2020 UPDATE: If you feel like your kid needs to go here for whatever reason..JUST DO NOT!! The food there left my stomach messed up for days after release along with being traumatized. They group only by craziness but someone had just killed them selves before I got there in the least crazy part where I was so that's BS . Other patients would be so out of it just constantly staring. While I stayed for a week, I caught on to some of the workers who acted like selfish kids who wanted to be left alone and would bite you if you kept talking to them". This place needs to be shut down or rebuilt. They also add on medication without telling you. Happened to half the people there. Also if you act out in any way you'd most likely be kept another week because they just want to keep their jobs and need that extra $ for keeping the ole place still goin. If I could I'd put zero stars. Whatever you do DO NOT go there or send someone they'll come out with even more problems. One night one guy beat the crap out of all of the nurses. They lost my clothes and couldn't find them for days and wouldn't give me any scrubs they give out so I had the blue paper pants and shirt with holes in them (you get from the actual hospital) and I would get in trouble for having them on. You will only see a doctor when you come in and the morning you leave you probably will never be able to actually address what you're in there for because they only have two groups which are maybe 30 mins and one is addiction and one is coping which is basically just telling you to color. If you have a minor problem and want to do the outpatient they'll tell you to go assessment and commit you involuntary and you'll probably have to talk to the judge before you can get out or sent somewhere else. They have multiple people suing them and have ended up in another place because of what they saw or went through. read more

Never admit yourself for your child or family member or whoever! I was denied rights, I wasn't given any help, I was ignored by staff and some residents threaten to kill me or hit me and nothing was ever done, a girl choked me against the wall and she just got put into a room 1 door down from my room and I was in my room trying to go to sleep and the girl came in the room, threw me agaisnt the wall and kissed me and started touching me with out consent. There were bugs everywhere. I was strip searched which to me was violating (i was patted down in the ER 7 seven times and twice there). When I was admitted I waited in 2 different rooms for a total of 5 hours and their weren't any other people being admitted (not that I saw from the waiting room). I was 13 when I went here and I couldn't call me mom the first day they wouldn't let me. Some of the staff was not helpful whatsoever I told one of the staff I was having a episode and all she said was "watch the movie on try not to think about it" now in that state of mind I needed some assistance and asked for it didn't get it. I was there for a week and talked to my doctor once for 1 minute or so and my physiatrist 2 times for about 10 mins. My peers helped me more than the staff did. I wasn't given any medication for my mental illnesses. I hated every god damn second of it. I was threatened, ignored, sexual harassed, and didn't get any treatment. If the hospital tries sending you to this place beg and plead for any other mental hospital. read more

I agree with the review that called this place a scam. They use whatever they can to keep you in. I went in in for depression and pill abuse. In their initial "assessment" I signed papers under pressure (my fault), but the papers I signed contained statements from me that I did not say stating that I planned to OD on pills to die. They promptly used this information to keep me LOCKED inside. I was kidnapped by this institution. And every time I talked to my assigned doctor I was threatened with commitment. Every time I expressed a desire to leave or said that my medical assessment had untruths, I was told I was a liar and threatened with commitment. They practically waved the commitment papers in my face. My "assigned" social worker met with me ONCE and I did not see her and was not able to talk to her the rest of my stay, and blew me off when I asked if we could talk. Doors were all locked. Spoke with a lawyer who advised me that if I was being held against my will and had expressed that I wanted to leave and was not allowed to, it was a kidnapping. I had great insurance that they knew they could get a lot of money out of. And they did. I was told by other patients to "go with the flow" and basically BS the doctor and "tell them what they want to hear." Hang on, isn't she my doctor? Aren't I paying a ton of money for her? I usually got less than 3 minutes with her each day, until I started telling her what she wanted to hear. Then I got my discharge date. While I was there, I spoke to several patients who were in the same position as me. I also left with a nice cigarette habit because smoking was the only way to get out and get any fresh air or see the sky. This place has more restrictions than a prison and at 3 Rivers, the doctor's word is law. No accountability whatsoever. So in summary, I walked into 3 Rivers, had my medical records forged, signed papers under pressure, was kidnapped, and they got a lot of my insurance money. All that said, the techs were very nice to me, as well as the nurses. But any higher ups were afraid of the doctor. My social worker said to me, and I quote, "I work for the doctor. I am not going to lose my job for you." What a social worker, huh? If you are sick or need to get over an addiction, seek help like I did. But do NOT go to 3 Rivers if you can avoid it. As well as all this, I met several patients with extreme health conditions that were not being cared for! A suspected kidney infection in one. No meds. Ulcers in another. No meds. UTI in another. Nothing. All tried to get a doctor there to treat them, and absolutely nothing. And let me top all of this off with a story. The day I was being discharged (was only held against my will for 5 days... thank God!) I met a guy in the exact same condition as me. Stable, sane, walked in voluntarily for depression information, was *locked in* (I cannot stress this enough in my review) for 2 weeks. He was told he would be going home the same day as me, but conveniently they found a new reason to hold him longer... surprise surprise... and when he got angry, did not hit anyone, just a raised voice... wouldn't you?... he was dragged to their psych ward. If that's enough to convince you to not send yourself there or loved ones, I don't know what is. If you need help, go somewhere, but go somewhere else. Please. read more

We were continuously told false or incorrect information. We were told patient would see a doctor the next day - it was two days before one was seen. No warm water in showers. All rooms are freezing. Doctors and nurses refused to change medication even after being told medicine was wrong. Doctors spent less than ten minutes with patient - not enough time to thoroughly determine proper treatment. Patient was placed on Lunesta, then was deemed mentally unsafe when she experienced the known side effects! Very unhappy with services. Very uncomfortable environment. Very bad experience. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS. Those are bad experiences likely from patients who came here and did not want help. Nearly everyone I came into contact with from the techs, nurses, cooks, social workers****, interns, doctors were overall extremely attentive and treated you like a person. No one can help you if you don't want help. You have to participate in the groups and more often than not, you have more in common with other patients than you could ever imagine. If you were committed here, it was for a reason. And if you self admit, it's for a reason. If you come here, get all you can get out of it. I left and was set up for an appointment with a counselor for the same day. If you're going to complain about being here the whole time and you have problems... well, I don't know if any facility in the world could help you. read more
