Got what we needed, didn't have to wander all over a big box store looking for the items, they were loaded right into our vehicle. Been a carpenter since 1971, built custom homes, commercial work, take my word, it doesn't get much better than Paul Lumber. Keep up the good work y'all.

I used lived across the street, for many years, shopped for plywood and 2x4s for all my small projects. While counter folks could be gruff, I never had any issues, my questions would an answered, and people were generally friendly. I liked that it was a local shop. They are more of a contractor/construction company supply house, but I know plenty of DIYers and small contractors who buy there. But it has been a few years since I bought supplies there. Today, I went in and I was diligently ignored by three counter people (not even a 'we see you and someone will be with you soon') even though there was no one else in the store. One decided to make a phone call, another sorted through opened envelopes, and a third sat down and did not acknowledge me. Nothing. Finally after two minutes, a young woman came to her counter station and asked if I had been helped. After explaining what I wanted, a small 2x4x16 order of a few hundred dollars, the man who had previously sat down (next to the women who was now helping me) basically told me what I wanted wasn't possible, I didn't understand what I was asking, that this was construction grade lumber, and since I wasn't an employee i couldn't 'pick' the lumber (which I had asked to do), and in end ... they really shouldn't make that sale. "So, you won't sell me the lumber?" No, they just couldn't do it, too much time to pick the truest lumber, etc. And I said they don't have to pick it. I would, and restack it, neatly. No, I wasn't an employee so I wasn't allowed to pick that size lumber. I will note that I have selected wood products there previously, multiple times over the years, including 4x8 sheets of ply and some long lumber such as 16' footers, though not recently. I was a bit shocked, speechless for a moment, and then I explained I did in fact knew what I asking, that I had done this before, that the studs were to be exposed so I had to pick good quality pieces. No, they weren't going to sell me the wood. He was, throughout, dismissive, unapologetic, and eventually told me I should leave and find another place. Frankly, I would have paid more, or even been happy to work out a compromise, but he had no interest in helping me. He didn't know me, who I worked for, what long term account he was risking. He just decided he didn't want my order. No one else on the counter intervened. The woman who was helping me was silent. Stunned, I slowly walked out, turning only once to ask him what was the reason he was acting this way, and he started mocking me, saying I was the one who started it, I was the one being mean. As I walked out, he continued to say things after me, nonsense things, actually. So, yes, I can never shop there again, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone, but I will not say that no one else should go there. I know many people love this shop. I simply wanted my experience to be noted.
