Some good military history to be found here. I've been to The Eagles Nest, and to see some of the stuff that was grabbed in the liberation was amazing. I could only imagine trying to sneak Hitlers mirror out of the Army. Kudos to the retired veterans manning the museum. Only suggestion is some additional 45th ID gear for purchase at the gift store. A must visit for history buff and for the kids to be shown what pure hatred looked like in the 30-40's. Keep up the good work at the museum. (The A-7 needs a new paint job! - might be a good project for some Airmen at Tinker to take on)

Several old tanks, planes, helicopters and military vehicles outside and museum on the inside. The inside is mostly old military rifles, but they also have a tank and old Jeeps. For free admission, this place is an awesome place to take the family. My 5 year old loved it! Make plans to go ASAP.

First of all, there is no admission fee here so there's no excuse not to go! I went with a group of parents and kids. I had absolutely no interest in going so I was surprised at how great it was after all! My oldest daughter is a history and war buff so she thoroughly enjoyed it. My two grandkids were just more interested in running around in circles lol there's a wealth of information about every imaginable war. The battles that were fought here in our own state were very intriguing. Pictures, memorabilia, photographs, uniforms... So much interesting stuff! This was a great history lesson!

Wow! CANT BELIEVE WHAT I GOT TO SEE HERE! Tons of memorabilia from every war beginning with Civil. But the kicker was all of the Adolf Hitler souvenirs obtained by the soldiers who found his bunker and his apartment at war end. There is a cape in perfect condition worn by Hitler, a mirror than hung in his bunker where he shot himself, his copy of Mein Kampf, his apartment silverware, coasters and much more!! Hard to believe!

Family friendly museum. Great display outdoor with a lot of airplanes and tanks. Great place for World War I and II history buff.

This museum was a really pleasant stop for us while in town. Admission was free, and there was a lot to see here! Very nice outdoor display of vehicles, and a nice covered pavilion to take a break under. Our pup even got to walk around the outdoor display to stretch her legs after our long car ride. Definitely recommend for everyone young and old who has an interest in history to tour. The outdoor display had paved walking trails, and some of the smaller vehicles were on display inside.

Great place! Family had an awesome time. The staff are really knowledgeable and attentive to the visitors, not only questions they already New the answer but would research the answer on the spot! Special tour to the archives and Library was also given to us! A free museum that deserves to charge the entrance!

Until I had a meeting here, I had no idea that this place even existed. It's off east of the city, but only a few minutes drive outside of the downtown core, so distance is definitely no excuse! I went here for a meeting for work, and ended up having some time beforehand to browse a small portion of this extensive and comprehensive museum. When pulling up, you immediately notice the military-style enclosure surrounding the facility, but fortunately, you can just pull right into the parking lot (free parking, whoop!). If you have any military vehicle fans, save this for nicer weather, as there are a whole bunch of military vehicles all around the building. They're easily photographed and walked around, and are all in great condition. Once inside, get ready to be completely overwhelmed and fascinated. This museum is FREE. Yes, FREE. $0 parking. $0 entry fee. What a gem! It is chock full of everything you could ever dream of wanting to see, and then a million other things. This isn't some fancy, professionally curated place, but it is well-loved and cared for, and clearly someone(s) put a ton of effort in. There are photos, descriptions, displays, more vehicles inside (including multiple planes, jeeps, etc.), and even a gift shop with some super adorable stuff. I spent probably 20 minutes just walking around one room and I couldn't even come close to taking everything in. You could easily spend hours in here. This place is fascinating for anyone, but if you have a military member, buff, or fan in your family, this would be a great place to take them. AND did I mention it is FREE??? I could go on forever about how excited this place makes me, but really, I suggest you just head on over.

Outstanding collection of memorabilia throughout the history of the 45th infantry division. A generally small museum that has a lot of information, I would recommend it for anybody that is passing by.

It had been a while since our last visit, and I won't wait so long next time. The museum has remodeled since we were last there and everything feels fresh and updated. The Chihuly exhibit is even better than before, the layout really shows off the glass beautifully. We also enjoyed the Paul Reed exhibit and stopped by the gift shop on the way out, which had lots of great gift ideas. The little patisserie inside was busy and looked like it had a nice selection of coffee, tea, and cocktails. And a great tip: they offer free entry on the second Sunday of every month, which makes it an even better time to visit.

Five stars, just for a magnificent Chihuly exhibit!…read more The Chihuly Exhibit comprises the entirety of the first floor of the museum and it is captivating. Others have shared enough photos that I need not add any additional pictures, but Chihuly makes it easy to understand glassworks as artworks. Simply magical. The second floor of the museum includes a small but engaging selection of European and American art. There are not a lot of immediately recognizable names but what there is, is high quality. It is also interesting to see how a younger museum builds its collection, when the great masters were gobbled up by older institutions. I was happy to see Copley and O'Keefe, among others. The third floor housed a special exhibit of a more contemporary artist. Modern Art is not so much my thing, but the artist did spawn a lot of debate between my son and me over the nature of art, so it had its effect.

My favorite area is the "original stories" shown on a massive wrap around screen -- complete with rock shaped seats. From there you follow a timeline of significant moments in indigenous history. The children's wing has come so far in the last few years and has a ton of interactive options for kids and adults alike. A note about accessibility: The FAM does an amazing job not only being ADA compliant but going above and beyond. Audio and visual portions have physical text or captions for those who need it. Exhibit videos also display timers in the lower corner. There are several "fire pit" seating areas throughout that allow for folks to rest. These are also all wheelchair accessible.

Of course the artwork and artifacts are beautiful but what really got me was the mood. This place is QUIET. Not in a sterile don't touch anything way (but yeah, also don't touch anything), but with the stories that are told on the video, or through the curated spaces. It's contemplative and deeply respectful. This is NOT your typical museum where kids are sprinting around screaming. It's calm. And somehow, that calm extends even to the children's area. The Family Discovery Center is EXCEPTIONAL. Kids can climb, build, and explore hands-on educational stations for hours. There are interactive games, and activities that teach caring for our world which is the theme "We are all Connected." I really enjoyed the videos that detailed how the first Americans believed males and females were formed, I wish they had the animated video in a book format for purchase. Come spend a few hours here and take the time to reflect.

I wasn't expecting much, and actually lowered my expectations when I arrived and saw the boring building that looks like it belongs in any strip mall, but the displays were pretty awesome. You could spend days here. The number of different skeletons was staggering and they're organized nicely, with some funny Easter eggs in the displays. Well worth a visit for kids or adults.

Adult admission was $14 while child tickets were $12 each. It was nothing short of amazing. There were at that time over 450 real animal (including homo sapiens) bones donated from nature preserves, gardens, aquariums, and rehabilitation centers (per the brochure) I was given. We drove in a bit later than I anticipated, so we spent only about an hour here, but we could have easily spent hours reading all the facts and immersing ourselves into an extremely wide variety of skeletons. Afterwards we stopped by the gift shop where the friendly staff waited for us and others to finalize our choices. I got this super cute "Indiana Bones Temple of Tuna" sticker ($3.99) for my laptop. That design was on other items too. This is the only museum in the US dedicated solely to skeletons. And it just keeps growing. Huge fan!
