If you are looking for an easy way to get downtown, yet with time to spare it is an accessible transit with several stops in between that will connect you to sights known to the city of Philadelphia. SEPTA NRG Station is a very well-maintained station that also serves as an exit stop to sporting venues, like Xfinity Live! (NBC Sports Arena), Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field, and Wells Fargo Center which are all located in the heart of South Philadelphia. While in the area after completing Independence Blue Cross Broad Street 10 Mile Run, I could not help but sense that Philadelphia is a city that loves its sporting teams, as like Chicago, the city where I am from. Being that I have had nothing but pleasant commutes, I would gladly commute from SEPTA NRG Station again, as well as recommend it to anyone visiting the city of Philadelphia for anything aforementioned. ~ Be Kind. New fence along the side parking lot to keep pedestrians from walking across the tracks (which was causing for muddy and at times dangerous situations). Now what I'd like to see done: 1. The station was originally built with a canopy that extended the entire length of the platform. I'd like to see this restored at some point. I'd prefer a business or generous donation from the local community vs. the city paying for it as it's not a high priority. If you step off the train towards the end of the platform and it's raining, you're going to get wet. 2. There is a beautiful station here that is open at limited times. It'd be great if some small business could revive this building and make it useful again. The ticket office needs one small window. I'd say a coffee shop, but Chestnut Hill Coffee and Starbucks make that unnecessary. Anyway, something to add to the life of the stop would be great - Chestnut Hill shops stretch almost all the way to the train station so it's definitely possible to have a successful business here. Parking is readily available, although it's easy to get bottlenecked during rush hour. Also, if you are planning on cutting it close, the conductor often only opens up the train door farthest down the platform. I really don't get this, especially if it's raining or hot. But it can be a good trek down the platform if it's a long train. Overall it's a good stop, although it could definitely use some more work to really make it a Chestnut Hill gem.

Very well maintained station with frequent service into center city Philadelphia. There's a…read moresurprisingly large amount of parking here due to the razed turntable and other bygone railroad functions. The station exterior is a finely appointed Reading Railroad stone. Built in 1931 the structure has been holding up pretty well. The interior is comfortable with plenty of amenities. There is a bathroom, benches, water fountain, and a schedule rack. Recently SEPTA crews made their way out to Chestnut Hill East to repair the station canopy roofs, repaint benches, and repaint the platforms. The station looks very sharp. Half hour peak service and hourly off peak service is offered here. Sadly, not much in lines of nearby places to grab coffee or snacks. Germantown Ave. is a 3 minute drive or 5 minute walk, so I'd recommend coming prepared with your own java. However if you'd like to zumba or hit the cycle studio after a train ride from work, there are a few of these businesses directly across the street! Make sure you pay attention to the track your train is pulling off from. There are three separate departure tracks available here. Pro tip: generally the first two cars are the only ones that will be open during off-peak hours, make your way up early so that you can grab a seat!

She approached me and offered advice for which ticket to purchase with the new SEPTA key, how much to purchase down to the penny to ensure every pass I use will deduct down to zero instead of some odd amount, and how to register my card and get $4.95 back. Surprised how easy she made it. Subway car came on schedule, was clean with seating, had AC, and was much quicker than the T in Boston. Station was typical to expect for public transit in a non financial or tourist area: its a little dirty outside the gates and has its regulars around the station.

On a nice day, come from Philly to this station, get off, and walk to Treno, Keg & Kitchen, Irish Mile, or the Pour House. You won't regret it.

This is just a few minutes down the road and the parking lot is much larger. I can't speak if there is a paid parking lot for early bird users but I parked in a side lot which was free. Which means you need to walk a lot farther but hey. No bathrooms. For those who have mobility issues, note that there are more steps to climb compared to Haddonfield.

This is one of the best train stations in the entire SEPTA system. I specifically looked for an…read moreapartment next to this station, because it is such an awesome station to be located near. I think this station is an incredible asset to the neighborhood. It was a major selling point of the apartment my girlfriend and I chose, and living next to it is a huge improvement in my quality of life. Train service here is excellent. Minus a few quirks, the trains generally run often enough that if you're headed into Philly, you can just show up at this station without checking a schedule, and you'll be guaranteed to get something usually with at most a 15 minute wait. Pick up a Glenside Combined schedule if you're only concerned about the trains going between this station and center city. (Glenside is one stop beyond this one) Going farther out into the suburbs, you get lots of options: the Doylestown, Warminster, and West Trenton lines all go through this station, and it's the last station before these three lines fork off. But another huge asset of train travel is the direct trains you get going "out the other side" of center city. Once the Jenkintown lines get to center city, they turn into other lines and head out to various destinations, including (a) Airport (b) Paoli/Thorndale (The main line) (c) Media / Elywn Line (which goes through 49th street in West Philly, and Swarthmore) (d) Marcus Hook/Wilmington/Newark DE (SW suburbs into Delaware), and (e) Trenton Transit Center (NJ, this station, and not West Trenton, connects with NJ Transit to NYC) All this means that, with careful checking of the schedule, you can get direct trips from Jenkintown to all of these destinations. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Yet another perk of this station? Great ticket counter hours. The ticket counter here sells all sorts of passes and tokens, and has very reasonable hours (open near rush hour weekdays and most of the day saturday), among the best hours of any station in the system. Yet another perk? You can often get a cab here at night, getting off the train on the Jenkintown side. Not quite guaranteed, but I've seen cabs waiting here more often than other suburban locations, where you usually need to call a cab. It keeps getting better. The SEPTA station provides a convenient pedestrian underpass while the Greenwood ave. bridge is under construction. An extra perk! And it's adjacent to the beautiful Ralph Morgan Park in Wynwood, a little greenway along Tacony creek with paved paths along both sides of the creek...saves you walking along the road about a third of the way to Glenside, and just a pleasant place to take a stroll. The only sad thing about this station...it used to have both a restaurant and a coffee shop in it...and both closed. This makes me really sad. I hope that some day, both can re-open because I feel like having a restaurant and a coffee shop in an awesome SEPTA station like this is just such a great idea, and again, a huge asset to the neighborhood. The closest cafe/restaurant is Linda Jean's, which I like very much, and recommend checking out (it's on the Wyncote side, on Greenwood ave.) if you haven't. But seriously this station is awesome!

Beautiful new station that will be underutilized, until NJ Transit rewards the Atlantic City line…read morewith a schedule that actually runs trains. That said, we came from North Jersey for a weekend in Center City Philadelphia. Hotel parking was $42/night, so we opted to use the PTC as a park and ride. Ample FREE parking here with security cameras, and elevators with raised platforms at trains for easy access with bags. We timed our arrival here with the ACL train to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, which is only a one stop, twenty minute train ride. On the Saturday of that weekend, we left our hotel to come back here but had to plan our journey back around the sporadic ACL train schedule. Once here, we dropped bags off in the car, and walked right back to the station to board the RiverLine which is the light rail which runs through here enroute to Camden from Trenton. That night there was a concert on the Camden Waterfront and it was the way to go. So my point is, if you're seeing a show in Camden or spending a night in Philly, check this place out but also check those schedules!

Passed through here on my way home to South Jersey recently. It had just opened that weekend and…read morethis was changing my route up a little. I took the Riverline from Trenton to here to make the connection to NJT train, instead of connecting in Philly. It was slightly more convenient but not very. I had about 4 min to make my connection, so thankfully they had signs posted, pointing me in the direction of the platform. I ran right past the ticket machines, assuming there would be 1 on the platform. There was not. There was no time to go back down the 2 flights of stairs to get a ticket, so I boarded without. Please make sure you buy your tickets before going up to the platform, there is a $5 surcharge for tickets purchased on board. That's damn near double my ticket! I didn't get to explore much but what I could make out (while making a mad-dash), was pretty nice. Let's see how long that lasts!

So why would I want to review a SEPTA Station? It's simple; folks on the main line think that the…read moretrain to take into the city is the R5. They are correct in that it will get you there. But what about convenience? Almost all the R5 stations charge for parking. Ughh! Next you need to change trains at a big station like 30th Street or Suburban to get to restaurant row. Not necessarily a pleasant experience! Now let's talk about Ardmore Junction. It's on the Norristown High Speed Line. Let me say that again; it's fast! Parking is free which is a big plus. You change trains at 69th street in Upper Darby to the Market-Frankford line. It's a very easy change. Now you have access to all of the Market, Chestnut, and Walnut Street restaurants. If you are on the mainline, do yourself a favor and think about the Norristown High Speed Line the next time you consider going into the city.

He drove and drove even though I told him to stop and turn around. I told him he was going the wrong way. He blamed his Spanish and his app. I kept telling him which way my app said. He ignored me.
