Better Off Duds is well organized and not overwhelming because the racks and shelves are reasonably stocked. There are men's and women's clothes as well as accessories and shoes. I purchased an absolutely awesome floor length, orange maxi dress and I might add that the two girlfriends who accompanied me found clothes in plus sizes that fit them well. The business card says size and gender inclusive, and it's true. The back of this cozy store has a small amount of home decor, kitchenware and other classic goodies. If I had money to burn, I would have bought more items. I really liked that the dressing rooms were clean and sizable. I think it's safe to assume that the woman working while I shopped last week was the owner. She was really friendly. An acquaintance of mine knows her and said that she's really involved in the community and works at bringing small business owners together, which I think is great. Saskatoon needs more passionate people like this.

But you can be sure that there is a variety to choose from - vintage, high end, clean, neat, never worn, designer. You can just shop to your hearts content not being pressured to take something home. The deals are incredible. The jewellery and accessories are top notch. I laugh when I read some of the other reviews about Rose and Lofty Ladies. I too have asked to bring clothes in. Rose knows how much she can take and how much she can store. It makes me shake my head when I see ladies bring in clothes without calling first or those that are offended Rose didn't have time to chit chat over the phone or in person. She's a small business basically there by herself. I have had articles donated that didn't sell. Rose can't store my clothes until some future date when I come to pick them up. The reason I took it to Rose was to see if they could be resold before I donated them. I think some money is better than no money and its not like the donated clothes went to the garbage they went to help organizations in need. She's one of my favorite shopping destinations and always will be.

I've driven past it many times without noticing it in previous locations and apparently it's been around for 12 years. Oops. I like the decor, especially the chandeliers and the change rooms. Kudos to the owner for hanging hand held mirrors, allowing you to check out your rear view while trying on clothes. I value this a lot, especially when trying on pants. I literally bring a compact mirror while shopping just for this reason, so I noticed the hand held mirrors right away. I like that Stasia sells some higher end clothing because I can't seem to find formal business attire in good condition in most other consignment stores in the city. I scored a $400 Danier leather coat for $38. There's a $10 rack and all clothes that don't sell after 3 months are reduced by 50%, which may be normal for many consignment stores, but you can take your chances and wait for something that seems pricey to more closely meet your thrift shopping budget if you want that brand name item. When I return, I'll likely find out if they will tell you when something will go on sale if it hasn't sold.

Part of the deal of having me play with their team at the indoor ultimate tournament I attended in Saskatoon was that I got to pick what they wore for one of our games. So where else do you head but Value Village? I ended up picking out a skirt and a women's shirt (fishnet no less) for both guys to wear. It was hilarious and well worth the ~$15 bucks it cost me. Bonus was that Sean found a pair of his basketball shoes on the shelf that he lost the year prior at the U of S. Not bad finding your old pair of shoes haha.
