To be honest, I was feeling a little bit disappointed at first. When we went there to order, they did not have the oxtail that I originally wanted. The bathroom was not available because it was down. They also ran out of silverware. On top of it, the wait was long to get the food. There's also no place to eat in the restaurant. No tables. Just waiting chairs But when we got the food, it was very very delicious. Super flavorful and a very scrumptious meal. This is why it gets a 4 from me. The side order of french fries were nicely seasoned and not dry! The tilapia fish was very juicy. I liked that it came with sides. The beef stew with vegetables had a lot of flavor. We can only assume the gentlemen was either the owner or the manager with the way he took charge but he was so kind and professional. They were extremely busy and we had 2 orders to pick up. We recently have been out in Tallahassee looking for new food places and found 509 Caribbean Cuisine. We went today (6/9) and ordered the griot with rice, salad and plantains. The young lady that took our order was so pleasant. We went out to the car and received a text when the food was ready. The gentleman that that gave us the food showed the meal prior to placing in the bag and it is PLENTY of food! We sat down to eat and I had to remember to take the below photo before starting. The food was so good and comforting!!! The pikliz had a slight kick to it and i placed it over my rice and it was on point!!!! We have had Haitian food in South Florida and loved it so we were excited when we found this gem here in Tallahassee. We will definitely be back and supporting this restaurant. Do not promote your food online if you have a problem with food quality and consistency. What I received looks like brown stewed goat and I am very displeased. The gentleman at the front was slightly positive but for the staff in the back, just because there's a swinging door that separates you from your customers doesn't mean sound won't travel. The food is inconsistent. I normal go on Sunday for Legume (with oxtails). I stopped going because they started using beef tips, but continued to state the dish had oxtails. I've called and been hung up on, placed on hold so that the person taking my order could continue a conversation, and waited on hold for 20+ minutes. The Customer Service is horrible. I've never been given an honest wait time, it is always at least 20 minutes longer than the wait provided. They are frequently out of items, in my experience: griot and/or macaroni and cheese. They are definitely taking advantage of being the only Haitian restaurant in town. At this point, it's better to just venture out of Tallahassee for Haitian cuisine.
