I was really dissatisfied with my wardrobe- lots of pieces and options, but I didn't have any…read morelooks. I hated my wardrobe so much I would wear the same few things. And then on top of that, my body changed during quarantine and those clothes didn't look good anymore. Desperate, I looked to style subscription boxes, but the amount of details I didn't know about myself and my tastes overwhelmed me. I wanted to talk to a person- someone knowledgeable, who could take a look at me and see what I could no longer see. That's when I found Brandi at Trés Chic. When I say she was dedicated to helping me- she read my email and decided to fit me in even when booked, just so we could talk. The process of having someone question you about your likes, dislikes, fashion successes and failures- its intimate and very personal, but Brandi made me feel comfortable enough to pour out my heart. We did a consultation in which I showed her outfits I owned that I liked, that I wished worked but didn't, and things I absolutely hated. She took pictures of the things I loved so she could find items to pair with them. We went into my Pinterest board and I showed her looks I was inspired by but didn't know where to start. We discussed looks I could wear to work and seamlessly transition into after work attire, like for dinner or drinks. I wanted looks that would draw attention away from areas that I felt self conscious about and highlight my strengths. We set a budget (there is a minimum, so if you want 1-2 outfits, she might offer something different) and set and appointment for her to return with what she found for me. About three weeks later, Brandi brought five duffel bags worth of clothes to my home, and we had a four hour try on session. Brandi put together looks for me to try on- even some out of my comfort zone, things I would admire but chicken out on buying for myself. She pushed me to take some risks, but in no way was I pressured to keep anything that I wouldn't wear. She even brought accessories to pair with my wardrobe, including shoes and bags. We took photos of me in the looks so I would remember how to put them together By the end of the session I was tired, but SO EXCITED about my new wardrobe! She took back all the things I didn't want, and charged me only for the items I kept. We also did a wardrobe clean out, so Brandi helped me say goodbye to all the clothes that no longer served me. I kept a few items that had sentimental value, but most of my old wardrobe was rightfully tossed or set aside for donations. My confidence has returned! I had a great experience with Lili at her color party! I've recently done a deep dive into the…read moreinternet rabbit hole of seasonal color analysis and tried some home draping and digital draping. I had developed a decent understanding of color theory but was having difficulty figuring out the subjective part of which colors made me look better or worse. I saw how affordable her color parties were compared to individual color analysis and brought a friend up to the city for a girls' evening. As a neutral muted light-skinned Eastern European girl with an olive overtone, I had guessed that I would be soft summer or soft autumn. I was surprised to see a clear preference for light summer (and light spring in second place) during the draping session. I never would have guessed a light season since I always thought pastels washed me out, but it turns out they brighten and even my skin tone and make me look less tired and sallow. Goes to show how much more effective an in-person session is compared to virtual. I also loved watching her drape others. It was easier to be objective and see the difference on someone else vs yourself. My friend looks fantastic in her soft autumn drapes. The session included an overview of color theory as well as looking at different kinds of makeup and quizzing us on whether they were warm or cool shades. She also gave recommendations on which metallics for each of us to wear (eg for a formal dress but also jewelry) and we took home cards with our palettes and recommendations. I met her the following week where she had prepared a huge amount of tops, pants, jackets, and shoes for me to try on. I had a great time and kept most of the clothes.
