Simple enough, right? But when we went to settle the bill, I noticed a charge that hadn't been there earlier -- for a beer we never ordered. Earlier, while waiting for our food, the kids were playing beach volleyball and accidentally knocked over a man's half-drunk beer. I immediately apologized, grabbed the bottle, and asked our waitress if she could just top it off -- trying to be courteous and avoid a scene. When the bill came (from the owner, not our waitress), that beer was mysteriously added. I asked why, and she said, "Because you ordered a beer." I explained it wasn't for us -- it was an attempt to do right by a customer who happened to be near a family-friendly game. Her response? "Well, he probably would've come to us angry." What came next was truly unbelievable. She told me that everyone at the restaurant had a problem with our table. She actually said: "Even the bartender didn't want to deal with you the entire time!" Interesting, considering we don't even drink -- one Diet Coke, one refill. That's it. When I asked to speak to the manager, she said, "I am the manager. F* off."** I was stunned and asked, "Excuse me?" To which she doubled down: "Get the f* out of here!"** Absolutely vile behavior. I've never in my life been spoken to like that in any restaurant -- especially not in a small-town place that should pride itself on hospitality. And we weren't the only ones. Another table nearby shared they had a horrible run-in with the same owner that night. If kids aren't welcome, post a sign. If customers are a burden, maybe reconsider running a business at all. This was beyond bad service -- it was hostile, unhinged, and frankly disgusting. I will never be back. And if you're thinking of bringing your family here -- I'd think twice.

I've never experienced that at a restaurant. We were told they could get us paper plates and tin foil instead. We asked for a bunch of plates and foil because you have to use so much more to package everything than to-go boxes. It seems like that might have been to save money but that seems incredibly stingy considering the prices of menu items were about 3x that of anywhere within 50 miles. That was slightly disappointing but bearable. What really got me was when the waiter that was helping us went and openly mocked my wife to the kitchen staff when she asked for a bag to carry all of our to-go plates. I've never experienced such a rude act at a restaurant by the staff and couldn't believe that's the way they conduct themselves as a business. Based on previous reviews and responses from the business it sounds like that a lack of hospitality is a trend here.

We ordered and there had been a large group seated and they re-arranged the tables to accommodate them beside us. They were very loud, so much so that my wife and I seated beside each other couldn't hear anything. Our appetizer came and the mains were delivered ~1 minute later. We now had a choice eat the appetizer and let the mains go cold or eat the appetizer. I really wanted to just ask the waitress to box up our food so we could get the hell out of there but we shut up ate the cold food, paid the tab and on the way out found guests seated in the nice quiet main dining room. My family vacationed together at Priest from 1957 to 1968 every year without fail and we were in and around Hill's regularly over those years and ever since. Often we go over and stay a weekend or just drop in for a meal. The prices have steadily gone up and IMO the facilities, food and service have been steadily going down.
