We stopped by for lunch today, giving this small-town bar a second chance after a previous disappointing visit. Unfortunately, the experience was even worse this time. When we arrived, we asked if there was patio seating. The owner rudley told us we could sit outside, but that she didn't have time to deal with serving us on the patio and that we would need to come back inside to place our order and pick up our food ourselves. After deciding what we wanted, we returned inside to order and waited quite a while without being acknowledged. Another customer eventually spoke with the cook, who nicely told us someone would be out shortly. During that time, we watched the owner deliberately ignore us while continuing to assist other customers. When another couple entered, the owner greeted them and explained there would be a wait. We simply asked how long the wait might be for us. Her response was shockingly rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Rather than offering an estimate or even a polite acknowledgment, she bluntly told us that we could leave and go to the next town. The tone and manner in which she said it made it clear that our business was neither wanted nor appreciated. We later confirmed that this person was the owner. Based on our two visits, it felt as though customers who aren't locals are treated as an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. In all our years of dining out, it is rare to encounter someone so openly discourteous to paying customers. We left without ordering and will not be returning. Customer service matters, and unfortunately, this business fell far short of even basic courtesy. The owner's behavior was not just unfriendly, it was exceptionally rude and left us feeling unwelcome from start to finish. read more

The unfortunate part about this review is that the food is so good, but being told to go somewhere else when simply asking how long the wait is sounds like a great suggestion when the bartender woman had just as nasty of an attitude the first time we were here... we will indeed take our service elsewhere. And yes I am the woman who walked in with my dog and asked if there was a patio she could sit on. Best food you can get in the area of the 3 towns Ione, Metaline and Metaline Falls. Cant believe I never never tried this place. Was surprised by how good the food was compared to the other couple restaurants here. The portions sizes were great not skimpy meals like the other restaurants. The service was also way better. Our food arrived in a timely manner for once and with way friendly service. The only restaurant I will now recommend. read more

Been here a few times. Food is always good! The beef tacos and fish tacos n shrimp tacos all good but beef was excellent! Service was good too. Bummed to see that some bad reviews. Vacationing with family in the area. Decided to step away, have a cold beer on draft at this establishment while taking care of a few work emails. It was a great day until I stepped into this place. When I arrived, a few minutes before it opened, there was no one here. I parked in front and there were no other cars. There are no lines and so I was unsure how to park and so I parked in a way that is customery. The vook arrived, let me in and serviced me a cold scottish ale. She wash very sweet. 5 munutes later, who I assume is the owner (or guard dog) barges in, yells at me to get out side and repark my truck so that she can "open up". I was a bit in shock. I thought, "do we know each other? Are you my long lost dredded aunt to speak as if I'm your bastard nephew?" I don't say a word, just try to follow her lead. She peoceeds to embarrass me in front of two additional customers who walk through the door. At that point, being a 48 yesr old professional, who prefers not to be yelled at on vacation, or any other time, by a complete stranger/business owner, I proceeded to the counter to pay for my one beer, that I had taken two sips from. I politely said, "this is my first time here, I didn't realize that I had parked wrong, and I'd like to pay and leave. I'm on vacation and I prefer to not be yelled at." For a struggling small town, I was a bit shocked. Businesses all around her are shutting down and yet she was so disrespectful. At first I really liked the place, and the beer, but when people treat others so disrespectful, it doesn't matter if you're the last bar and grill standing, karma gets you in the end. How frustrating. I wish them the best, but I guarantee this small town will someday be bought up by outsiders and they won't be able to complain, because their service sucked. read more

When you barely step out of your car before the owner pops out to flip you smack asking if you're coming in or not. You know... The owner was passive aggressive and inappropriately sarcastic before we managed to order a beverage. Openly complaining to the other patrons about preparing our order. Informing us that she is typically closed, (At 1:30pm on a Saturday?) She was very rude to my father (who is obviously very sweet and unable to speak) when he asked for bbq sauce. He was told "NO, Sit down and be quiet" Soon a large group of people arrived on ATVs and sat out on the deck. The Owner ventured out and met a food delivery man, she promptly began shouting at him over a delivery miscommunication. He promptly left. The customers outside were told they needed to wait until she was done with the orders for everyone inside. We were then informed that "Fries aren't going to happen because I just turned the fryer on" Soon enough the entire group of ATVs left. She noticed this and began swearing and throwing a fit about us f***ers in here being the reason she couldn't get to them. After a pretty decent Burger I was handed a $64 bill for 4 hamburgers without the fries we ordered, 2 beers, and 1 Pepsi. Just breeze on by this dive, the 5th Avenue Bar is superior. read more

Tried to stop in for a beverage and snack. Have never tried them before and our usual was closed. Door locked. Lots of cars. Called phone number on door "for entey. I get it with Covid. We wanted to sit on the deck after our hike. I was told the deck was full and hung up on. I called back now angry as I was staring at the empty deck. Rang 10 times and someone else answered. I hear in the back..."is that the same lady that just called??!" I sweetly say we are just looking for beverages and food. May we sit on the deck? I'm informed..."We are only serving locals." "Well then, I guess we are not welcome." Thanks for the friendly hospitality. We come up several times a year and eat out many times. Guess our business, money and recommendation isn't all that important. read more

Never been to a place that doesn't supply menus. The waitress has it all in her head. Which sucks because she says burgers & you ask what kinds & she tells you. Don't have time to play guess what we have & listen. What if I was to of seen a menu & seen more choices to choose something else. Plus pretty pricey. Stopped in here on a motorcycle ride. We asked where we could get something to eat and an adult beverage, and were pointed to the Western Star. The place is a typical small-town bar in appearance, but they had about 15 rotating taps with a good selection of brews. For food there was a not-too-encouraging menu of traditional bar food. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries, and this is where the surprise came in. It was astonishingly good. The patty was thick and juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The bacon was not too crispy and not too soggy - just right. The fries were a perfect compliment to the burger, hot and crispy and just salty enough. Stacy was the bartender/cook/bottle washer, and was full of smiles and laughs while she worked. She made our visit even better than it could have been. The bar had a number of local regulars in there, and they joined into the group conversation without a hitch, and we soon had the whole room laughing and talking. Overall, a great visit. read more

Nice small town bar & restaurant. Surprising menu for such a small town, friendly bar with shuffle board, pool table & several HDTV's with an assortment on sports shows. read more
