The staff is nice, some space but limited outlets, noticed and heard young kids and moms throughout my stay making a racket which unfortunately for small town spots is difficult to accommodate. I ordered up a large rose matcha, surprised my eyes out when it managed to peak twelve dollars! Is it ceremonial grade? Guess I can write off a donation for small town America! It was fine and easy to drink but not much smooth balance I've had with other matcha like Eleventh House in my hometown or Rabble's incredible Lawnmower doing watermelon with the green tea. Downtown Indianapolis sure does spoil! Would do coffee next time, the Dubai latte I had at Cook St seems the winter way.

The coffee shop was very busy when I visited with a line all the way to the entry. Only one staff member was working so she had to hustle to take orders, make drinks, and refill items behind the bar. I was surprised they would be so understaffed for a busy day. When it was my turn, I ordered a 16oz Hot Pumpkin Spice Latte (with oatmilk). You can tell the pumpkin is fresh and quality to help flavor the latte. They do have a notice stating their prices have increased and reasoning why. My latte in total was close to $10 so this becomes more of a special treat than consistent go-to. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed my latte and experiencing the Cary location!

So how did a Seattle or Portland quality coffee shop end up in Crystal Lake? I don't know and I don't care. This place is the real deal. Good product, good baristas, some innovative twists (think ube white chocolate mocha as one of the current specials), this place would perform well up and down the I-5 corridor. They are LGBTQ+ friendly. That's not necessarily common in this area, so kudos to them. Again, a good fit along much of the I-5 corridor. But, of course, I can't take them back home. At least I have a quality coffee stop nearby when visiting family here. Thanks, sis, for introducing me to this place.

Their chai is seriously good. To some extent I wish they were closer so I could have a taste a bit more often--but I'm not driving up to Palatine (which is the closest location). But... they're kind of expensive so maybe I wouldn't visit that often anyway. Or the large is, anyway--it was $9 for a large chai. And it was a weird price jump, because the price of a small to medium is a 65 cent increase, and from medium to large is almost $1.50... that seems very odd. Anyway, while the chai was great, I'll probably try somewhere else to save a bit of money next time.

Honey Hill has a chill atmosphere and welcoming presence at the onset with staff who are knowledgeable and can help guide you through choosing a drink that fits you. I ordered a hot Honey Nut Latte with Oat milk and the barista was correct; it tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios in a latte! I will be coming back more frequently when I have time to make a stop. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Sadly, Honey Hill is far enough away from where I live that I wouldn't drive all the way their just to get coffee, but when I'm inevitably in Wauconda again soon, I will definitely stop by. The place itself is cute inside, and they even have local artists' paintings for sale on their wall. I love when local businesses support local entrepreneurs and artists. When we came, we sat on the little patio outside because it was a gorgeous day. They have a few tables set up right beside the building. When it comes to the menu, there are TONS to choose from! They also don't only have coffee, which is a plus because my husband isn't a coffee fan. They offer lemonade, frozen lemonade, non-coffee milkshake type drinks, steamed apple cider, hot chocolate, and teas. They also have food choices, such as multiple flavors of scones and cake slices. Admittedly, the day we came, the service could have been better. The young girl made the drinks really well, but she wasn't too friendly. She might have been having a bad day or something, which is understandable, but I wish she was a bit more personable. Overall, I highly recommend Honey Hill, and the location is perfect because it's in the downtown area of town, so there are plenty of stores around to pop in and out of!
