another hidden cafe gem in Edmonton close to the high level bridge…read more It's a cool cafe that looks like a house from the outside.

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!

Oh. Em. Gee…read more Driving by in Fort Sask for work I did a quick U-Turn and decided to grab a quick bite. The outside of the building is unique and attractive - bright white and red. Upon walking up inlaa was bred they were take out only or patio due to the current pandemic. I hopped on Facebook and Yelp to take a peek at recommendations and reviews. I was pleasantly surprised snd excited to give them a try from the mouthwatering pictures and descriptions. Upon entering I knew immediately this place was going to rock. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to give recommendations. Turns out they moved here just under 2 years ago. It's a lunch only gig and currently closed on Mondays. The decor inside is fun and filled with history paying homage to the fact it's an old union hall. Now let's get down to the food! Water and coffee is complimentary :-) Meals here are a sandwich, grinder, or wrap and come with housemade salad or soups. They also have daily pie! Prices are roughly $15-$18 and the portions are good. I opted for the Philly Grinder and Potato bacon chowder (staff recommendation). Both were EPIC! I literally got two meals out of this one lunch. The Grinders are heavenly sourdough loaves stuffed and melted in the oven. They are also excellent dipped in the soup! I would seriously order the exact same thing again and again. I cannot wait to go again. This will be my new Fort Sask stop when I'm the area for work. Two thumbs WAY up!

I was so excited to try it after reading so many good things on the Fort Sask fb pages. But to be…read moreperfectly honest, it was really just ok. Nothing that makes me want to rush back and try again. Ordering is a little confusing. The menu is posted on a standard piece of paper up at the counter. So if there are people ahead of you in line, you can't see it until you get up there. Once you get there, you can see the sandwiches and melts on the paper, then the wraps are on a separate white board, then the soups and salads are on another white board up at the till. Look... I know it's not the end of the world, but it's annoying. They have a cooler with various pops as well. I also noticed a coffee station set up with some different syrups and stuff. But I didn't see a menu for that, so I don't know what they offer or what the prices were like. All the sandwiches/wraps/melts are between $14 & $16 which includes a soup or salad. I did a buffalo chicken wrap with french onion soup. I love spicy wraps, but this was just drenched in frank's red hot. It's all I could taste and it really wasn't enjoyable :( The french onion soup was good though! There was nothing necessarily wrong with anything... but there was nothing that made me want to go back.

We picked…read moreGratitude Coffee because we didn't plan on ordering lunch and, as far as I can tell, Gratitude doesn't sell lunch so that made our decision easy. I ordered a black drip coffee and it was excellent. No bitternes and just the right temperature. We did add a date square despite the plan not to order food. I certainly recommend Gratitude's date squares but only if you are sharing the square with someone else because the serving would be a bit much for one person. It was 1:30pm on a Thursday when we arrived and the tables were nearly full. The cafe has room for another table or two so hopefully they will add some additional seating. If you're just looking for coffee or perhaps coffee and a biscuit or square, Gratitude Coffee might be a good good stop.

I tried their "sausage/breakfast roll" and my friend had their muffin. Both were delicious and their products are local. Another bonus they don't charge extra for dairy alternatives for your coffee!! Both the owners were there yesterday morning and were pleasant and helpful. They have a large menu of beverage options. We both had drip coffee and it was wonderful. The inside is cozy, bright and clean. Definitely worth a stop for a take away or to stay.

(Not an exaggeration.) I asked for a Vanilla Coconut flavour shot.. it was almost as I wasn't speaking English... ok great you don't have it, well what do you have... -_- Well that took 6 minutes I'd like a Breakfast Egg and Sausage on an Everything bagel... with egg you ask 4 times... so I repeat the order... it's not a complicated order... it's right on the screen here with a picture... Get to the window I'm a bit frustrated but not giving an attitude.. still Smiling and being polite.. I reach out with my phone for you to scan... and it's almost like you have no idea what I'm doing.... Pretty sure scan/pay has been around for a bit now... I get my order... shoot you'd think I spoke an unknown language... and not the clear English I have been speaking my entire life... I paid for the meal... but I got an everything bagel with cheese, not sure what happened to the egg or sausage... and I got a tea with Vanilla... Umm.. I'm super confused, we went over the order before I came to the window... I know it's just a coffee and a sandwich, but I work hard to make the money to spend so you can have a job... I mean clearly there's 10 million other people doing the same...
