What really stood out to me was the atmosphere. The space is clean, bright, cozy, and surprisingly peaceful. There are plenty of comfortable seating options, making it a great spot to bring your laptop and get some work done, read a book, or simply enjoy a quiet break from the day. The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in, and everything felt well cared for and inviting. I found myself wanting to stay longer than I planned. If you're looking for a coffee shop with great drinks, a relaxing vibe, and a space where you can actually hear yourself think, this is it. I'll definitely be back. Elite Tip: Grab a drink, bring a good book, and settle in for a while. This place makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment.

The food and drinks were excellent, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. We ordered: Yogurt -- 5/5. Fresh and delicious. Cold Brew Coffee -- 4/5. Very good and refreshing. Blueberry Matcha Latte -- 5/5. Fresh, clean, and reminded me of Hawaii. Avocado Toast -- 5/5. Healthy but still packed with flavor. The sautéed red onions really made it stand out. They also have a restroom, parking, and a great variety of food and pastries. Overall, one of the best coffee spots I've visited recently. Definitely coming back.

While I was looking over the deli options with my CERTIFIED service dog, the employee abruptly and very loudly asked - within earshot of other customers - what service my dog provides. While businesses are legally allowed to ask limited questions, I answered immediately and appropriately. For context, my service dog is fully trained, certified, and had just flown on a plane with me. He's also 105 lbs, so he's a big boy. Despite this, the employee continued to question me, spoke to me in a condescending manner, and went as far as saying she herself has a service dog for her "actual" disability - clearly implying that I was lying or exaggerating. This was humiliating, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. I do not need to disclose my disability to anyone, nor should I be interrogated after already complying with the law. I was so taken aback that I decided to leave immediately. Neither my dog nor I felt welcome, and I was uncomfortable continuing the interaction. We were former customers, but after this experience, I can't bring myself to return. No one should be treated this way - ESPECIALLY over something that is legally protected and deeply personal.

The owner decorates beautifully and meaningfully for each and every occasion. Whether it's fall, spring, summer, Valentine's Day, Holiday Season, or even once I was there the day of a royal wedding, you can guarantee that every little detail will be attended to. Located in the heart of Port Jefferson, a short walk from the large municipal lot and ferry, this tea shop is where you want to go. They offer full tea service, a royal tea (soup and sparkling cider added), individual ala carte sandwiches, and an array of desserts. I always get the tea service, which comes with a bottomless pot of tea. They have so many teas to choose from, including decaf and herbal versions. During the holidays, they update their tea list to reflect more seasonal teas. Service is always impeccable, the food is always fresh, and there is a consistency to this place that rivals many. I've had tea service at "those" expensive hotels in NYC, and I must say, Secret Garden tops it for me.

Inside is a tea party lover's dream: think florals, fine china and a hat bar for your elegant photos! The staff is super helpful and kind offering suggestions for the mammoth selection of teas they offer. My friend and I ordered an afternoon tea set that came with scones, sandwiches, desserts. And for $54 + sharing fee, it was good! The scones were hot and tender, there was a variety of nibbles my friend and I enjoyed, such as the chicken salad sandwich, the cream puff and a variety of fruit to keep it light. I'll be honest, I feel like there are other tea rooms that offer a greater and larger selection for the same price. So if you're looking around Long Island, there are better options out there. But, if you're locally in the area, I would give them a chance!

There's a lot going on amidst the reviews of Dortoni, but I want my own write up to really focus on…read morethe here and now and the bakery aspect of this place (which by the way, is quite good). My wife and I have been here a few times and found Dortoni to be delightfully delicious. Well, for the most part. On our first trip we tried a whole bunch of different baked goods (pastries, cookies, crumbs, cakes, etc.), though one thing we were excited about was their take on the Dubai chocolate sensation via the form of a cake. Unfortunately, it kind of missed the mark, but if you take that snafu aside, everything else at Dortoni is fantastic. For instance, my wife's new favorite dessert is their cheesecake waffle cone (which is exactly what it sounds like). For me, I loved the key lime bomb which was out of this world. There's just a great selection of stuff here that makes you curious as to what they'll have each time you enter. Beyond the baked goods, I will say the staff has been super friendly. Both visits they were helpful, gave suggestions, and (though it was close to closing) offered us some rolls free of charge. It doesn't take a lot to make you feel welcome and they do more than that which is nice to see. Perhaps you won't see what is nothing more than a few tables inside this small spot that you can sit at, but I wouldn't say this is a horrible turnoff. Yeah, maybe Dortoni isn't your bakery/cafe that's going to be a place you stay and enjoy your goods, but it's definitely worth some items to-go. Overall, Dortoni in Port Jeff earns a visit. There are other locations (perhaps even one closer to me) that I might have to check out, but even if I do, I'll at least know that the quality and service in PJ is top notch. I'd gladly return here in the future (and I probably will knowing my wife's new obsession) and you should too!
