I live in the area and walked in for a few items. The man in the back forced himself to ask me if I needed help. I asked if they deliver and he said- well...I don't know..we really don't do that sort of thing. I said OK. Asked him for a couple of items and this guy was nasty. Very disappointed. Went in to buy a piece of wood, first it was cut long at every measurement, then when he recut it, he used a board with nail and screw holes in it, which I didn't notice until I got it home and went to use it. Looks bullet-riddled. Charged me $15 for an unusable piece of wood someone else had already used and rejected. read more

"Service with a Scowl!" They are literally across the street from me, but it's well worth my time and peace-of-mind to go FAR, FAR away. I returned something a few minutes after buying it, as I discovered I had plenty at home. The dude I dealt with was clearly not happy, but made the return. A few days later, I was in to buy an extension cord. The guy that did the return saw me and shouted out "Hey pal, the cheap power cords are in back!". Unbelievable . I've always received great service when visiting this store. The staff is helpful and courteous. Their prices seem a little more fair than the competition and their key copies always work perfectly. Whenever I need to take care of some small repairs around the house I know I will be able to find what I need and get good advice on how to get the job done. read more

I live down the block from this store and come in here often to buy hardware for various home projects on a regular basis. The other day, I bought a roll of painters tape that was $22, Price gouging was the first thing that comes to mind, and then when I went to return it the next day, they refused to take it back. I was never given a receipt. The employee there said they could not take it back. It was unopened, unused, and had their price tag on it. where they trying to say that I stole it and was trying to get the money back from stolen goods, really ? I used to buy hundreds of dollars worth the goods here a month. well, no longer will I be doing that here. Message to the owner of this establishment. You have now lost a long time customer, You will lose other neighborhood business when I inform all my neighbors about how this business is treating their customers and lastly my American Express platinum card will issue a charge back to me for the overpriced tape. Now you will not have the money, I keep the tape, and you lose a lot of money from me and other customers that I know and the ones that read this review. Avoid doing business here. This is a non reputable business. Go to Home Depot instead. It's out of the way, but the pricing is much more competitive, and they will take back anything without a receipt as long as you have the card that you purchase it with. read more

Kenny and the other guys here were so helpful! They showed me how I could connect a few pieces to repair my dishwasher outlet. Kenny and his guys were patient and also went the extra mile to find items that would work. I live right next door. Myself and my building's super shop at this store for everything hardware related. Prior to today, my only complaint is that I tried to rent a ladder from them for 15 mins and they said it would cost like $25 or something ridiculous. Today I stopped in & asked if I could borrow a tape measure for literally 1 minute so I could measure my stove because it's being replaced. They said no. I offered to leave my drivers license with them as proof id come back. They still said no. I understand their job is to sell things like tape measures, but this is a tiny neighborhood store in a nice upper west side area with no less than 3 other hardware shops within 3 blocks. Really not the best business practice to someone who says "I live right next door." It's not like I asked to borrow a paint brush or some nails. It's a freaking tape measure. So, I walked to the grocery store down the block and bought one there. read more

Supreme Hardware is a serious hardware store. Professionals shop here. This place is a great resource if you need to find a specific tool, or if you have a specific repair task (big or small) to perform. The staff can and will help you with advice as long as they don't think you are wasting their time. Don't ask them how to use a hammer, for example. If you are only looking for decorator items... like pot holders, or pretty contact paper, or sparkly bottle stoppers... go elsewhere. Since the daughter of the owner is no longer there, things have improved dramatically and it is a friendlier environment to do business. The owner, Murray, is sincere and honest. LOCAL man and he strives to make people happy. I used to shop the store many years ago when it was on Columbus Ave. It's also one of the few rare hardware stores that cuts wood, glass or anything, for that matter. He may not have everything, but he will try to get it for you, if possible. read more

I ordered a product, off Amazon.com and this place was the shipper. I was quoted a shipping price of $3.99, but this company turned around and charged me $7.23...?? This is more than the worth of the product ($4.69) I went to their info site and it did state a shipping cost (to a PO Box), of $6.50...so where did $7.23 come from...double cheat..!! So helpful! I was inspired by something on HGTV and these guys had everything I needed. A saleswoman got me the perfect stuff after helping me with sizes (very patient and knowledgeable) and another woman cut it (Girl power!!). The guy behind the counter had great advice too.
