I had an amazing time here with my bartender Arber. I tried a Gimlet on the rocks for the first time and it was amazing and refreshing. I was a Tanquaray girlie and was told the difference between that and Sapphire. Yummy. Needless to say I like Sapphire now. The ambiance is cool. I have been to this bar a few times since it is local in my neighborhood. We usually come here to catch a game if there is one on. The jack wings are really yummy. I also like the fries, which are well seasoned. I haven't had other food items but the menu consists of typical bar foods. There are a few options for non meat eaters, such as grill cheese, Mac and cheese, a veggie burger and fries. The drinks are standard. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. I love this place and come here every month with my boyfriend when we get our wings craving. This bar lounge is the best spot ever. They always show all major sport events and non major and it's always a good time in there! We mostly just go because we be hungry so we never stay fully to watch a full game but the time we're there it's a great fun time. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you. I love this honestly makes it easy and everyone is always so kind there and the food is never a wait we usually get our food within 15 mins of being there. My boyfriend and I always get the 20 piece wings most of the time Hot or the Jack Daniel's flavor both flavors are top notch we absolutely love the wings and finish it all! Also you MUST get some fries you get such a generous amount of hot salted crispy steak fries that are great with some ranch or blue cheese! Overall these two can be shared for two people and with two drinks it's at a great price of $30-35 which to me is an absolute perfect price for the quality, quantity and service. One visit and I can write I'll go back 6 days a week and twice on Sundays. The prices are fair, the atmosphere friendly and hospitable, and the food tasty. We eat a dozen wings ($12; that Wednesday is $1 wing night) and pulled pork quesadilla ($12). My whole life I've walked past this bar countless times and never went in. Soooo I came here recently with my cuz for a few drinks/lite bites. It was a pleasant experience. We were the only people in the bar besides staff however, we still had a great time. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Wow! They're serving food now! I had the Arancini. The crust had the ideal crisp. They're like cracking into an egg. A technique chef Ian picked up in his travels in Italy. The Brussel sprouts are roasted to perfection. Served with candied almonds which gives the dish a perfect amount of sweetness to counter the nice char on the brussels. The wings come in 6 different flavors. I tried the hot and honey bbq. Can't wait to get back and try the curry wings. read more

This is a trusty bar with comfort drinks and food. My friend from the neighborhood brought me here telling me the wings were delicious, and he was right. Decent prices, delicious dishes and delightful people. Oh! And they even have a hidden outdoor space which is a nice hidden gem. Went to watch the World Cup- Food was decent however took 3hrs to be served an egg sand which. If it wasn't for the very beautiful and attentive bartender I would have walked, Definitely would go back for drinks and sports. Wow what a wonderful neighborhood Brooklyn dive bar, of which there are precious few remaining, and the few that remain are dropping like the proverbial flies. Seriously it got all of the components you could desire, gruff yet lovable staff and crowd which always lean heavy on regulars and offer a great cross section of eclectic and eccentric Brooklyn characters of all stripes. Add to this astonishingly cheap prices, particularly during the day which often times is the best time to spend in lovably dingy dives like this. While I feel remiss for not coming here before, the thing that belatedly drew me in was the recent relocation of the justifiably lauded Buffalos Famous operation which moved into the kitchen here after a brief run at a brick and mortar location up on Church street. A lack of liquor license no doubt did that incarnation here, but luckily to all they have reemerged triumphantly in this awesome dive bar, which seems like the most ideal setting to enjoy the all American deep-fired goodness they provide. Do they now offer the best wings in the city? I'm not sure I'm ready to bestow them that title yet but they've definitely joined the top ranks, and they're very presence here elevates this establishment firmly into the ranks of by favorite bars in the city. As if the gigantic and beautiful homes they inhabit weren't enough already to make us all so jealous of Ditmas Park residents, now low and behold they also have one of the best neighborhood bars anywhere in their hood as well. read more

Disclaimer: I'm usually hammered by the time I set foot in this establishment. That said, Billy the bartender really knows how to take one's drunkenness to all new levels. I associate 773 with being sloppy wasted -- but it's okay, sometimes you just need a good blackout every now and again. There's a pretty good jukebox (but PLEASE, don't play more than one or two Billy Joel songs at a time), and the crowd is entertaining (which probably has more to do with my mental state than anything else). The Sycamore crowd often comes here once that bar shuts down, so you have an interesting mix of boozy senior citizens and annoying early-20something hipsters. But I can't knock 773 too much. It doesn't claim to be anything more than what it is: a not-so-classy dive that's great for a nightcap or 10. (Case-in-point: I don't even remember whether or not the bar has a TV.) read more

This is kinda the best bar ever. I almost don't want to yelp it because I don't want too many people to know about it. Billy the bartender is awesome and hilarious. We wanted a beer tower but he was out of everything on tap so he gave us buckets of Buds with a round of 4 shots for $20 total. Plus he bought us at least a round or two. I'm sure this isn't the norm but he rules. There's a good chance they'll be out of whatever you want, but if you walk in with no expectations and just want to have a good time for little money and want to escape the usual NYC pretentiousness, this bar is awesome. This is the friendliest dive bar I've ever been in. The atmosphere is something like Cheers meets 'The Piano Man' meets Charles Bukowski. The owner/bartender looks as if he should be rough and caustic, but he's one of the nicest bartenders I've ever met. The regulars are very welcoming, albeit through their simultaneously prickly and fuzzy repartee of sarcasm, irony, sincerity, endearment, and compliment. There is definitely an air of dissipation to the place, and a peculiar, mildly unpleasant odor not uncommon to dive bars, something like a mixture of stale alcohol and cleaning solution, as if the floor was last cleaned weeks ago, or tends to be cleaned up haphazardly. While normally these would be a minus, in this context they become a plus. The drinks are very cheap (generally $3-4 beer, $3-5 liquor), the jukebox is great. Also: a good place to watch sports (not that I do so much myself); they'll basically turn on any sport you want to watch. This place doesn't need to change anything. That being said-- the bartender mentioned that they have gradually lost business to the chi-chi bars along Cortelyou, and I don't know how they stand to regain it unless they change *something.* Maybe all this needs to be is advertising. So, in that spirit: Go check them out, buy a few drinks. If you like dive bars, doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

One night my friend and I went here and they played six songs back to back of Billy Joel, followed by Steely Dan. Going to this place is two/three stars really, it's a fucking irish bar, plays mets, jets, giants, etc you get it and if not from New York or you're a hipster, you are not going here except maybe ironically and you aren't because Sycamore/Castello Plan/your friends in Park Slope/Bushwick/Wburg, 9 million other better bars in Brooklyn or Park Slope/Gowanus, yeah you just aren't going to come here. But look man (the proverbial "you" in but look man). They play the best hits of the 70's, the 80's AND the 90's. Beer is cold and on tap. I kind of say the regulars are worse here than at Denny's, but that's because Denny's is old-school Brooklyn alcoholic and this is like....an Irish bar near an LIRR stop. Yeah, those clienteles are similar, you make a good case. Going in here reminded me of 100 different meh irish bars I went to and drove by and who cares else growing up on Strong Island (typo: Long Island, fuck outta here). I think they have cover bands play. It could be fun, I bet "A Matter of Trust" gets played and "Take Me Home Tonight" is an encore. I'm not being a smug dick, I know these things. "Comfortably Numb" if the band knows it and the band members are going through some depressing times. read more

This is not a place that I expected to give a 4star review. A dive bar it is, but the people were very friendly. The layer of film you see is really a topcoat of charm. Cheapie drinks that serve your needs. Observe the regulars and newcomers. The huge booths are great for a group or 1 on 1 time. And who doesn't want to top off a night of drinking with some good grub?! The Food Shack in the Back (it's official name) lovingly puts together some good eats at the rear of the place. The spinach and artichoke dip was some if the best I've had. In life. Ever. And the nachos were fresh and tasty. Both dishes are made from scratch, so they took a while, but it was worth the wait. Our chef even came out to our table to get feedback. And this place delivers too! I'll be going back here for sure, and likely getting more food and drinks for my tummy. Burger anyone??? read more

Going on a Friday/Saturday night when everyone has been drinking for too long and should have went home two hours ago is the best time to go.
