I had a certain figure I had in mind that I would go up to because the journal entries were irreplaceable. After waiting a couple of weeks, I was told that most of the files could be recovered including the journal entries. I thought it was a miracle! The cost was not cheap, but reasonable. I was very happy with the service I received. I also very much appreciated how the process was communicated to me. There was never any pressure -- everything was left up to me. I also hope the company's culture continues to reflect this level of care and professionalism and continues to support both customers and staff. --------------------------------------- Previous review -I brought my MSI laptop to this shop for a lid repair. At the time, there was a small crack on the left side near the hinge, and I was worried it might get worse , but the screen bezel was intact. I was initially told that once the part arrived, they would notify me to bring in the laptop, and the repair would then take about a full day. The part arrived on December 30, 2025, I dropped off the laptop on January 6, and picked it up on January 9. -After I got home, I turned on the webcam to prepare for a meeting, and noticed that the screen displayed a blue image. I contacted the shop immediately. I was asked to bring the laptop back for further inspection, but no explanation was provided regarding the possible cause of the issue. -Since the shop is about an hour away, I asked whether a remote diagnosis could be done first to better understand the situation. I was informed that there would be a charge for that service. At the same time, I looked into common causes of this issue and found that it can result from a protective film not being removed during repair. However, this possibility was not discussed. -If a likely cause had been communicated, it would have helped me better understand whether an immediate return visit was necessary. Without that information, the situation was unclear and required additional time and travel to resolve. -More recently, about four months after the repair, I noticed that the bezel near the hinge has cracked, even though I have been handling the laptop carefully. This area was not damaged prior to the repair. Given that the hinge area is a high-stress point, I am concerned that the repair or reassembly may have contributed to this issue. Overall, my experience was disappointing. While the initial interaction felt welcoming, it was followed by a noticeably self-protective approach when issues arose. Although the repair was completed, I encountered additional problems afterward that required significant time and effort to resolve. Based on this experience, I strongly recommend that others ask detailed questions about the repair process, confirm what testing will be performed, and ensure the device is thoroughly checked at the shop before taking it home. He said the phone would require 3 days for the repair as 1) it needed to have the charging port soldered and since it was labor day, and the technician who does that part of the repair was not available, work would not begin until next business day. Robert did say he would try. To my complete surprise the phone was ready in two days. Robert emailed me and also left a message for me on my land line. When discussing the phone repair on this phone and chatting about some other repairs I need done on other equipment, what I especially liked about Robert is that he said 'if I can't fix it, I will tell you'. I liked everything about doing business with Sheepshead Bay Wireless and oh... I did not mention... The price was very reasonable and before coming to SHBW I had been to two other shops where they told me they would not do the repair needed. They said the phone was to old to change the charging port and tried to move me in the direction of purchasing a new phone. Robert did not even lean toward that route. I spoke to Howard early Sunday morning and he asked for a history of what was happening and what steps I had already taken. I dropped off the computer and paid a very reasonable diagnostic fee, which he told me would be applied toward the repair if that went forward. He told me they'd get back to me in a couple of days. Monday Adam called to clarify what was wrong and what had been tried. He discussed what the next steps would be and what the price would be to get it running and to backup my school files (lesson and unit plans, videos, etc.) We agreed and he let me know it might be a couple of days. Tuesday at noon, I got the call. My laptop was fixed! The problems (a corrupted Windows update and drivers from my laptops' manufacturer) were taken care of and I could pick it up.
