She was local and most importantly a designer AND a contractor. I was pretty sure that would make the remodeling process pretty seamless. I was right. I, like everyone else, have heard the horror stories about contractors. No horror here! Just a professional and reliable experience. Friendly to boot! I told Eileen upfront, prior to hiring her, that I'm both very picky and want to be involved in the design. She pleasantly accepted all my feedback, changes, and sometimes issues. Eileen and her project manager, Kathy, were on top of things during my recent bathroom remodel. She and Kathy answered all of my many questions and were patient when I expressed some frustration. I will say that what made me the happiest was the communication as to when the sub-contractors would be arriving AND that either Eileen or Kathy would be there at the same time to ensure everything was on track. From day one until the end, Eileen was available, supportive, honest, patient, and fair. I had lots of questions along the way and Eileen was always very responsive, even on weekends. When I told my friends what we were looking to do to our home and that we hired a contractor, the reaction they had was that their experience with remodeling was a nightmare. Well, they didn't know Eileen. This was the no-stress express. She handled EVERYTHING. This was completely stress-free for us. She hired all of the people and they were all amazing craftsmen, super nice and always accommodating. If, on rare occasion, we weren't happy with something, they came back right away and fixed the problem to our specifications. There were a few times when I needed a fixture or an item and I didn't want to go to the store to pick it out myself, so I said to Eileen, you pick it out, I trust your taste. I was never disappointed! She has excellent taste. With respect to price, if not for the things WE decided to add along the way and a few things that needed to be addressed that either weren't up to code in our home, or something that needed to be fixed, our project came in very close to budget. We recently completed a full kitchen remodel with JRP, and we couldn't be more pleased. There are…read morea lot of things that we loved about JRP (and the people that we worked with), but I'll focus on a few highlights: Design Process: Our success started with the design. We spent a few months working with one of their designers, Danni Krueger. After we provided Danni with our ideas and inspiration photos, she created two different design options for us to consider. Her designs not only dramatically improved our kitchen's functionality (e.g., adding a lot more storage and counter space), they also were aesthetically beautiful. She recommended many things that we could never have come up with on our own. Danni is also super personable and easy to work with. Planning/schedule: Have you ever been frustrated about contractors starting a project and then having long periods of time where nothing seems to happen and your project grinds to a halt? That was the opposite of our experience. At the outset of our project, JRP provided a detailed schedule that we could follow on an app (Buildertrend). They had someone doing some sort of work nearly every day, so it always felt that we were moving the ball forward. They provided us daily updates (with pictures) to share what they had done that day and what they planned to do the next. Occasionally, when there was a necessary schedule change, they promptly communicated it along with the reason. Team: Day-to-day, we dealt mostly with Grant Walker (Project Manager) and Regin Wilson (Superintendent). At least one of them showed up every day to give direction and make sure the work was getting done right. These are highly professional, solid guys, and we completely trusted them with our home. If something wasn't done right (which invariably happens in every large project), they were usually the ones to identify it and make sure it was properly fixed. No arguments, and no headaches or stressful conversations that you might be used to having with a contractor. JRP seems to understand that this is the last thing you want to deal with. It's so refreshing. Finished Kitchen: Finally, we couldn't be happier with the final product. Our kitchen is amazing, and everyone who has seen it has been highly impressed. We plan to stay in our house for a while, and our new kitchen will make that time much more enjoyable. *** We have done several remodeling projects over the years, and we've worked with numerous contractors. We have never dealt with a better company than JRP. They might seem a bit pricier than some of their competitors, but that doesn't mean they are more expensive. That's because you are paying not only for the quality, but also for their professionalism and for your peace of mind. JRP is a one-stop shop, and they really delivered. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience with Focil Construction. I should have known that…read morethey were not trustworthy when they verbally made promises (such as the renovation would be complete by Thanksgiving) but then wrote a different date (end of December) into the contract. When I questioned why the contract said end of December, Joseph told me that the contract required adding an additional month. When I received the schedule of work, that too said the project would be completed by the end of December. I was not living yet in the property and renting, so the additional month added another $2,300 onto the project that I wasn't expecting. I asked for them not to charge me for additional fabrication and installation of the stone which they refused but they did end up finishing by the end of November so that I could get my furniture out of the rental so that I would not be charged for another month. This was not the only reason I began not to trust them any longer. I ordered the stone through the family of a friend, and the owner of the store asked for the name, address and phone number of the fabricator. I asked Catalina for this information. She gave me the correct address because the stone needed to be delivered there; however, she lied about the name of the fabricator. As you can see in the screenshot, she said the name was Israel when it's in fact Olympus. She supplied her own phone number as the number of the fabricator. Anytime I see lying, I wonder the motive, and I start to question everything. In addition, on the contract, the square footage was greater than the entire area of my condo. Again, I had questioned this when I signed the contract and Catalina assured me that I would only be charge for work done. I later had to argue with Joseph to get him to reduce the amount he was charging to the actual square footage which I estimated by taking the number of boxes of wood and multiplying by the square footage per box. Joseph told me that they used every single piece of wood in every box, but, as you can see in the attached photo, there was a box still sealed that had not been used. If I had not questioned this, it would have been $700 more. When I began to question the integrity of Joseph and Catalina, I did more research. The amount of glue needed for the wood floor is 30-35 square feet per gallon. I confirmed this with another flooring installer who works for the friend from whom I purchased the wood floor. In the attached, you will see that I was charged for 8 bucket of glue (5 gallons in each bucket) at $207 each. That is literally twice the recommended amount for the 650 square feet of wood that they installed. Also, I provided 4 buckets of the same glue for the padding that went underneath the floor. At $207 each bucket, I was overcharged more than $800. This led me to question the linear square feet of baseboard which I just got done measuring. I was charge for 240 square feet; however, the linear square footage of what I measured was 160 square feet, quite a difference and an additional charge of almost $500. There was an additional issue with the electrical outlet for the refrigerator. The appliance store was not able to install the refrigerator, because the cord would not reach to the outlet where they had placed it. I ended up having to pay for an additional visit from the appliance store ($75). I asked Joseph if he would reimburse me for this since he was responsible for installing the outlet in the correct location. He never responded to me. I definitely feel that Joseph and Catalina took advantage of me and my lack of knowledge and experience with renovation work. I wasn't able to catch all of the overcharges before paying for them, and it added to the already exorbitant cost of the renovation. I wish I had gone with a different contractor.

He was easy to work with, always available, very responsive, patient and stuck to my budget. He delivered everything we originally contracted to do with very few issues or delays. I would change my mind on things several times, Armin would just go with the flow, always doing everything he could to make me happy. There were very few hiccups and their timing was great, finishing my full kitchen and master bath remodel in just under four months. They were reliable, efficient and easy to work with. My new kitchen and bath is definitely a WOW feature that has everyone saying "gorgeous"! and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Armin at Royal Kitchen and Flooring!

He is so honest about pricing, time lines, and what can be expected. He is always available for phone calls, emails, and any type of question that can come up when doing a project. I had heard of him from friends in the area that have worked with him in the past, and his reputation is spot on. On top of the great experience I have had with Charlie, Showcase has also been exceptionally great! The products offered are top of the line and well worth the price! There was nothing in this arena that would work in the space, because the ceilings are high and the opening wide. I walked into the shop on Thousand Oaks Blvd and knew they could achieve the elegant look I wanted. This was a few years ago. The drapes turned out really beautiful, the fabric was perfect and the way they finished the room off was beyond expectation. Farzi was so helpful as well as her staff. Fast forward to my experience now. There was an issue with the hardware, they were so responsive and took care of the problem immediately. The drapes even slide on the rod better than ever. I had Dreamhouse reupholster my sofa and some guest chairs and they turned out just fine so I asked…read morethem to rebuild the seats in a couple of leather lounge chairs I have because they were sinking down too far when anybody sat on them. When the chairs were returned, they seats were much better EXCEPT they were striped! The backs of the chairs had been folded down and then the chairs were obviously left where they were exposed to sunlight which bleached out the leather and left stripes. I called Farzi and sent her pictures and she agreed to repair them. Dreamhouse picked up the chairs on Sept 10th so they could try and match the replacement leather on the seat cushions to what was on the back cushions and ottoman (which they did not work on). After nearly 6 WEEKS, they finally admitted that they couldn't match the leather. (This was after I had called repeatedly to get status and had been told that the chairs were going to be delivered but the delivery people were either out on vacation or too busy...that went on for a couple of weeks.) Since I knew where the leather had originally been purchased, I met the upholsterer in Downtown Los Angeles so we could get as close as possible to the existing leather. At that point I was told that Dreamhouse was ONLY going to reupholster the seats and the not the back cushions or ottoman. I agreed ONLY if it was not immediately obvious that the seats were different than the back cushions or ottoman. After all, everything had originally matched. When the chairs were finally returned, another week and a half later, the backs looked OK but the ottoman just did not match anymore. I told Dreamhouse I was willing to live with the backs but not the ottoman. I asked if there was any leftover leather from the hide that was purchased but nobody could give me an answer. Finally, to facilitate the process, I offered to drive the ottoman to Dreamhouse (26 miles away each way) and contribute $100.00 towards the replacement leather since I thought they would have to buy another hide ($200.00). Farzi countered at $150.00 (what?) and, again, to facilitate the repair, I agreed to $125.00. I was offering because I thought she would have to buy another hide and I felt bad for the upholsterer even though he caused this problem in the first place. Today, I picked up the ottoman (another 26 miles each way) and was told they were only going to charge me $75.00 because there was enough leather left over from the original hide and they did not need to purchase any more. WHAT?!? None of this fiasco was my fault but I paid the $75.00 because I did not want to argue with Farzi in front of other people in her shop and I just wanted to be done with this nightmare which had now been going on for 10 weeks!

From the inception of our project, he had great ideas, remained hands on throughout, and was very patient when I wanted to make small changes along the way. The quality of the cabinets are top notch and you can't beat their pricing. I shopped around at Home depot/Lowes and private competitors, nobody could match Cabinet Sense and the hand holding/guidance for the project was worth every penny. The extra added bonus was the cabinet installer, Moises. Steve recommended him and he did everything from the demo, to the electric, to the plumbing to the installation of the cabinets. I am over the moon happy with Cabinet Sense and highly recommend them.
