Showing exotic taxidermy animals in their natural habitat is not new as I have seen it elsewhere, but it is certainly well done. Dinosaurs exhibit is exhaustive. Again I have seen it elsewhere - but not this well done. Although I am not into rocks, the exhibit of minerals and rocks was the best I have seen. Showing elements in their natural state or variety of compounds with chemical formulas was amazing!!!! Frankly this place is now always on the list when visiting NYC !!!

There were definitely parts of the museum that were not appropriate for the four-year-old. It's not just the Muppets, people! The Muppets are great, but then there's The Exorcist and a whole lot of other things happening in there. So, depending on the ages in your group, you may need to do a little navigating. But we had a great time. The Muppets were a hit, and we checked out Felix the Cat--which thoroughly confused the four-year-old but was mostly age-appropriate. The arcade was another winner. We spent a whopping $5.50 and had a great time playing the games. Sometimes it really doesn't take much! We also enjoyed the MoMI Lab. There was a computerized dog that completely captured the four-year-old's attention while simultaneously terrifying her. She couldn't quite decide whether she wanted to get closer or get away from it, but all was well. And the café was a hit too! We ended our afternoon with a grilled cheese, two donuts, and a latte. Everybody got something they wanted, which is about as successful as an outing with a preschooler and a teenager can get. Overall, it was a fun afternoon with plenty for both ages to explore. Just do a little homework beforehand if you're bringing younger kids so you know which exhibits to wander into--and which ones to wander right past.

I loved seeing things like the movie cameras that have been used over the years. Very fascinating. The one downside is that it can be really crowded sometimes. This is especially an issue with the interactive stuff. There were huge lines to see some of the interactive things. Made it a bit of a chore getting through the museum at times. Overall though, definitely recommend checking it out.

The building was created in the 1790s, beginning as a carriage house, and later serving about a decade as an exclusive daytime resort. The first room e were shown had documents created by George Washington, John Adams and their friends. The tavern could be a rowdy place for anyone walking in, and a room next door was a gentile spot for paying overnight guests. They said there were no signs of ghosts here, but I wonder about that.

The seaport became a major hub of commerce, travel overseas (the Cunard line) and an important immigration center. The museum galleries are open Wed-Sun from 11-5. This is the absolute worts experience the museum has…read moreput together: the security was rude beyond reason; to make more money they added another zone; they packed people like sardines in a "hallway" made of rope, and considering that the view is already obstructed by the buildings on each side of pier 16, on top of that they had a tent right in the middle at the end of the pier obstructing the view even more. When purchasing the tickets they don't ask about especial accommodations for families with kids with special needs and then those families have to watch from the very back, completely wasting the money paid. They don't apply the rules to everyone: they said no chairs, but they let them pass security for a lot of people and space was even more to a premium.

Looks like each floor has been newly renovated , very refreshed ambiance. I enjoyed its season's feature exhibition ... a hundreds of colorful and pretty good quality Tiffany lamps on top floor. The history behind the company and its products presentation are magnificent. Another exhibit on this building that kept us interested is the gallery of the US Presidents and the Oval Office on third floor. I would highly recommend this museum for a visit if ever in the area.

One piece evokes Bharatanatyam (Kathak)capturing a dancer "in between poses," bridging tradition and personal expression. It felt personal: as a Guyanese American, I thought of my great-aunt, who mastered this dance in the 1960s in Guyana, a path that brought her to NYC. NYC is home to the largest South Asian and Indian diaspora in the U.S. reflects this influence across everyday life. Also, explored the Tiffany's studio lamps.
