Mike was a huge help! I went into 84 Lumber hoping to get some guidance for a DIY patio string-light project that I was hoping to get done within the next few weeks. Mike was very upfront and honest about their shipment delays and even went out of his way to call me 4 times within a week and a half to update me on my order. I'm a DIY guy so I don't mind rolling up my sleeves and getting some work done. I had already spent many hours over the past few days looking for some specialized exterior siding panels online (I had already visited Home Depot and Lowe's to no avail) so I was going through the list of possible businesses to have the supplies. In the morning, I call 84 Lumber (in Macedonia) and I speak to an associate, Ryan. He seems most pleasant with perfect telephone manners and he says he will look into the panels' availability and pricing in question and he will get back to me (after I give him my cell no). Hours pass and I call again but I am told he is on lunch break. I ask this other associate if he could help me and he said that he could not because Ryan was already looking into the matter. He asks me to leave a message and I politely request that he relay to Ryan that I called again and if he could please call me back about the product. I thought that it was pretty lazy of the next guy to not try to help me himself but I thought Ryan was much more polite on the phone. A couple more hours later (4pm'ish), I call and Ryan picks up the phone. I had asked if he had gotten the availability and pricing and he asked, "Oh for the 2x4s?" I said, "No, the exterior siding panels." He replied, "Oh yeah, I've been very busy today and I had not even had the chance to look." I said, "Oh okay, well would you be able to have the information for me by tomorrow morning?" He responded, "Yes, I should definitely be able to have that information to you by then!" I asked, "What time should I call you then tomorrow morning?" He answered, "9am, I will have the information you requested by then." I thanked him for his time and called the next morning at 9. A different associate had said that he was "out on a job" and would take a message. I asked politely again if he could have Ryan call me back. For the third time, I gave my cell phone number and I never heard back from Ryan. After 3 hours of waiting, I finally decided I would never want to do business with someone who would be that absent-minded or who was not assertive enough to at least have someone else help. I called Commonwealth Lumber in Cleveland on Woodhill Road and they were most helpful and they had exactly the product I was looking for. Unfortunately for me, the panels were not inexpensive but I did not have much of a choice since it was one of the only places I could find it.
