There's not much shade so when it's hot out I'd recommend an umbrella or a hat. It gets very crowded with people walking and eating at the restaurants. It's an iconic street in the 8th arrondissement, running a little over a mile between Place de la Cocorde and Place Charles de Gaulle, marked by the Arc de Triomphe. The avenue is wide and beautiful, famous and important, a tourist attraction and a center of city life. It's always teeming with people, but spacious enough that I've never felt it to be unbearably crowded. It's lovely both day and night, and I enjoyed seeing it in December when it was lit up for Christmas. The street is lined with shops and restaurants of the most tourist-grabbing kind. I've been to the Monoprix and paid money to use the bathroom at Galeries Lafayette. I've also been inside the flagship Louis Vuitton, a landmark building shaped and decorated like the brand's monogrammed luggage. Whether you're in Paris for the first or hundredth time, the Champs-Élysées is always worth a stroll. You can go to the Apple store or buy luxury perfume, but the main attraction is really the street itself.

I was in Paris closer to 2 weeks and had some down time on my final day before late afternoon plans. Rue Crémieux, "Paris' most colorful street", was a nice walk from where I was and quickly became my destination. Lucky for me, I also knew of the nearby Coulée Verte René-Dumont, an elevated 3-mile long park/walking path, because Rue Crémieux is something you'll be done with inside of 10 minutes. Is it lovely? Yes, but it's in no way worth going out of your way for. This is not San Francisco's "painted ladies". With a cobblestone street and lack of cars it's got a unique charm, different than the streets you've already been hoofing for the past week but it's my belief that you should add this to your day only if you find yourself nearby, en route to something that'll take you more than 10 minutes to explore.

Well, what can I say; everything is already on the internet?!?! A must visit, at least once in your life. So much, too much to do and see. And of course, so much to eat. But you know that because you are following. Things to do: Eiffel Tower (you can skip the 2 Michelin Star restaurant, we were not impressed; see other review), Louvre, Palace of Versailles (approximately an hour away), museums, churches (Notre Dame, so many), free walking tours (tip), wine, wine, and more wines, etc. Other things to do that we did NOT do: Cruise the Seine River, Normandy D-Day, Hop on Hop off bus, Disneyland, Moulin Rouge, etc. And follow all my reviews and pictures. Ambiance - Anything and everything you can think of. Romantic, adventurous, historic, foodie, touristy, etc. In the heart of Paris. City center = 2.1m population. Paris = 11m population. Size = 105 km square. Service - Most positive. For us, approximately 1 out of 10 rude people, but sadly that is anywhere and everywhere in the world. Price - Expensive, but still a must do. Vacationing in Paris, France…read more.. Our friend did a lot of research and found Points of Interest that I didn't know about. I've been to Paris a couple of times before and have seen well-known things like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, but I didn't know that the incorrupt body of Saint Catherine Labouré was in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Another Interesting landmark was The Wall of Love which featured the phrase, "I love you", in different languages. We also got a change to visit Missions Etrangeres de Paris (Foreign Missions of Paris) which wasn't open, but the receptionist was very helpful and friendly! It was nice to be back in the "City of Light" and learn about another aspect of Paris.

I love and respect how EFFICIENT and all-business the French are. I like it that way. Keep it professional! Their public transportation was on point. I think they improved their metro system for the Paris Olympics. On averaged we waited 5 minutes for the metro, and we were able to transfer to different lines we needed to get around. The French were quiet and respectful on the Metro, so I get why they would be annoyed at travelers who are not respectful of their space. Among my European travels, Paris is without a doubt my favorite. They had the most impressive attractions that you have to experience in real life to get its' fully beauty, such as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tour, or a minor detour to the Versailles Palace. I especially loved walking around at night along the Seine river and admiring the Eiffel Tour from different angles, and seeing the shimmer for 5 minutes on the hour every hour at night. I also love baked goods and you can get delicious croissants and pastries in Paris just going to any patisserie without the need to do research prior. Even buying bread and butter from the market was delicious. A true simple pleasure in the everyday life. I also want to emphasize on how CLEAN they are. So clean! We came during the fall and we saw the leaves getting swept at night and they would spray the streets with high pressure water to clean the streets. So clean!! Even the metros are clean!! Not smelliness compared to other leading public transportation systems like in London or Tokyo. The only thing that I had difficulty with in Paris was all the smoking... Before coming here I imagined myself sitting outside at the cafes people watching and admiring the streets of Paris... but in reality that's the smoker's area. Too much pollution for me. Nevertheless I still love Paris. It has unparalleled beauty. I would not hesitate to come back when opportunity allows.

Narrow streets, stone-paved alleyways which remind you of Middle Ages, hidden squares, ruins of the amphitheater- there's a lot to see and you cannot afford to miss this. My wife was especially fond of 100 years old Shakespeare and company shop. Notre Dame is the right side of Seine and the Latin quarter is left side, so start from across the Notre Dame and explore at your own pace.

It has been a politically distinct town since 1883 and has since been swallowed by the Parisian metropolis. It has a somewhat recognizable town center with a pedestrian street and a discernible concentration of commercialization. I stayed at a hotel in the neighboring suburb of Montrouge and was able to easily stroll over to this area. It was not particularly exciting but was pleasant nonetheless. There was an outdoor shopping sponsored by the local shops on the pedestrian mall on the Sunday that I was there. There were a couple of coffee shops and cafes that were very busy that day. I also found a very good Middle Eastern grill for a small bite of lunch. Overall, while it would never make any tourist lists, it is a rather quiet and unassuming place that is nice to simply wander in order to see daily life below the radar in the Paris area.

I'm referring to the fun, windy old quarry road that is bound in by Rue Caulaincourt and Blvd de Clichy! Boasting loads of popular places, like fruit tart maven baker, Mitrons, or the smash hit, Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain (simply, Amelie, in the States) cafe, Deux Moulins. There are also wonderful places like Fromagerie Lepic, Parisienne, a fab pharmacy, Yves Rocher, and the historic, famed Prussian war survivor, le blute-fin and le Radet windmills anchor, Le Moulin de la Galette (1830's mill owning fam, started selling wine to pair with their small brown bread loaves, called galettes). So worth exploring... so much so, I'm back in March.. and I will walk it, again, and again, and again... PS Bourdain stayed right around the corner at unaffordable Hôtel Particulier.

The advantage of an organised walk is that things are pointed out to you , which you would never notice otherwise. Rue Lepic starts close to the Moulin Rouge, then continues uphill past Café des deux Moulins, famous from the film Amelie. It is a steep walk past small shops and cafés which will more than satisfy your image of what is typically Parisian. At the top of the hill you pass Montmartre's two surviving windmills, Moulin Radet (closed to the public) and Moulin de la Galette. If you continue along Rue Lepic you eventually arrive at Place du Tertre and the heart of the artists quarter.

You will imagine Marie Antoinette drinking, gambling, running through the halls and most of all, the fantastic clothes and hairstyles. I've been here twice and it still captures the imagination. Sure, They spruced it up and the gold is blingier. Sure there are tons of tourists to join you and the lines are long so be patient my friends. It will be worthwhile. How often do you get to walk the halls where the Sun King ruled? There is the main palace, then three little castles and Marie Antoinettes little hamlet. Do go through the main castle and don't forget to go to the hamlet. The latter was under renovation but you can still see and all the cute animals. Most of all, bask in the opulence. You will not regret coming here!
