    Classic milk tea
    Duyen M.

The classic milk tea is not too good but fine, or maybe my taste from America's milk tea is different, but I would come back to try something else on their menu plus their staffs are super nice and ready to adjust your drink up to your taste.

One thing I didn't do was look up the bubble tea spots here in Brussels. So it was a bit of an odd surprise to randomly bump into 8tea5 while out looking at shops and just couldn't pass up the opportunity to get my bubble tea fix situated, and 8tea5 also had a Yelp check-in offer for a tea upgrade to large, so, here's to the first bubble tea of Belgium! After looking at their menu forever, I settled on the most boring tea they had. Despite it being refreshing and exactly what I wanted at the time, it was needlessly the safest and most boring thing. Originally I was interested in the specialty teas-- Mojito, Four Seasons, and a few others.. but was told they're more slushies. While appealing, I wasn't looking for that at the time. I ended up getting a kumquat fruit tea and also a peach fruit tea. The kumquat was a light citron flavored tea and not overly sweet. The peach tea was pretty standard too. As far as add-ins like tapioca etc. they have a great deal of popping pearl flavors to choose from and some jellies. The tapioca was fairly standard too. I've had better, but not bad. 8Tea5's specialties look really good though especially the summer options -- Oreo Shake with lots of cookie crumble and cream, caramel chai with whipped cream and tapioca or your option, Nutella shakes, or the slushie mojitos. They also have a lot of milk tea commons, Matcha, Taro, Taiwanese classic and an additional large menu of clear fruit teas while also covering a coffee menu too. If you like a little ice in your bubble tea you'll have to request extra ice or actually request for ice. All the teas are chilled and hand-shaken, but no ice added. If you prefer no ice, then all set. :) I didn't look too long to see if they actually had hot snacks or anything like so on the menu, but they have a small fridge of treats. The store itself is pretty tiny with a bar along the window and a small seating area on the opposite side. There also seems to be an upstairs. Decor is young and trendy.

This may have been the best boba I've ever had. I got the mojito with passion fruit bubbles, and it was amazing.

Since it was a little after opening, there was a lot of seating available both outside and in. The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert location was already impressive with its 1800s glass enclosed shopping arcade but we opted for inside seating to be surrounded by the beautiful woodwork and colorful panels of the restaurant. Staff were friendly and service was leisurely which allowed us to linger even after we finished our drinks and waffle. They served both Brussels and Liege waffles that could be customized with your choice of toppings or a bunch of set combos. We decided to share a liege waffle with stewed strawberries and it wowed us. We loved the sweetness from those unusual stewed strawberries (looked no different to us) on top of the crunchy and caramelized liege waffle. It was the perfect pairing and worth the splurge. We also appreciated the large glasses of cold lattes which provided a much need jolt of caffeine on an already quite warm morning (June heatwave throughout Europe). One knit pick was the table we chose wobbled a lot but with a folded napkin underneath temporarily stabilized it.

We walked around the block a bit, but could not find a spot that really caught out eye. After a quick Google search around where we were, we ended up chosing this place because we loved the name. The interior of the restaurant definitely screams "Instagram-worthy" but it felt on brand. I mean, it's a restaurant that features avocados! Well, I ordered a bun burger (the "buns" are actually avocado halves) and it was definitely a very creative and delicious choice. It definitely was not as ~basic~ as an avocado toast. In fact, I was pleasantly shocked at how full I was after the meal. Only thing that I will critique were the "nachos" that came on the side. When I hear "nachos," I think of a pretty heavily loaded plate of chips and loads of toppings... or is that because I'm just thinking of Americanized nachos? I was laughing at the singular beans that were neatly placed on top of the small globs of sour cream (see picture). Overall, I'm very glad that we stumbled upon this place. Wish this was in more places around me. I hope to happily stumble upon restaurants like this soon.

Somewhat strange setup: you find a table, make note of your table number, line up for food at the counter, and they bring your order out. We visited on a Friday morning: it took 5 minutes in line to order and another 30 minutes for the food -- popular place. My wife & I each got the Vegan Rustic breakfast (€13), which comes with a nice dark bread, hummus, avocado, green tomato, and a choice of orange or apple juice, and a hot drink (we got doppio espresso). We also split a very nice vegan croissant (€2.50). The main food items were very simply but tasty and well-executed: the bread was hearty, the avocado was fresh, the hummus was well-made, and the tomatoes were fresh and juicy. Perhaps not the greatest deal given the portion you're getting, but we were content enough. Good spot for vegetarian and vegan breakfast.
