He punched some numbers into his phone and told me about $1,500. He then sent a formal quote and deposit invoice, and the price on that came to $2,255 - a 50.3% increase over his estimate. I didn't like the increase but paid it because we needed the job done rather than wait around on new bids from another electrician. I paid the deposit in advance and the final invoice on the day it was received. The next day we found trash and wiring debris left on-site. If my original review mentioned cleanup, it would have referred only to the area immediately around the unit, which is what I saw at the time. I didn't check my shop where the electrical panel resides, the majority of the electrical work was conducted, and the debris was actually left, until the next morning. Not seeing a mess in one spot doesn't mean one didn't exist elsewhere. We later discovered not all the required electrical lines had actually been run -- the unit didn't work. During the initial visit, Dylan asked to see the installation manual before giving me the estimate, so he had the electrical requirements in hand when he quoted the job. I'll allow that not all the work was included on the invoice, but when discussed, I told him we needed it to work. It did not. I'm not an electrician or an HVAC tech -- I'm the customer. I rely on the professional to know what's required and to tell me what has to be done. I expected the entire scope of electrical work to be included in the quote he gave me after reviewing the manual. Dylan did agree to come out and see what needed to be done. A return visit was scheduled a week later so they could complete the work, for which they invoiced us $651 at 2:25pm that day. I intended to pay it the next morning. Before I got the chance, we discovered the unit still wasn't working -- it was now throwing an electrical overload error. We contacted them by text at 6:16 that morning. In that same conversation, less than 18 hours after the $651 invoice was issued, we were told it had to be paid before they'd leave for the day, and that resolving the overload issue would cost another $1,000. We were also handed a list of problems they attributed to us. To be fair, some of those may well have been on us. But at least one wasn't: the outdoor condenser sits on risers to keep it off the ground. Dylan wasn't hired to install or reposition the HVAC unit, but during the visit, on his own initiative, he removed the existing risers, replaced them with new ones, and set the condenser back down himself. When he put it back, it was facing the wrong direction. He then wired electrical power to it in that orientation. Dylan and the HVAC technician he brought in now say that orientation is causing the unit to overheat. He acknowledges moving the unit; he disputes that the resulting placement is his responsibility. Since posting my review, Dylan has sent two texts and three emails demanding I change or remove it. He has called me a liar and threatened legal action if I don't comply. I originally gave Pride Electric a 5-star review because Dylan was professional and polite. After he claimed the job was finished and I found the trash he left behind, the service did not work, and in my opinion Dylan became rude and aggressive, I changed my review to a 2-star review. However, since he has now become threatening, I'm including that highly unprofessional behavior in this review and lowering my rating again. If it were possible, I'd leave negative stars. As it is, Pride Electric receives a 1-star rating. Anyone considering hiring him should beware.
