I stopped in to check this place out on a recent visit to Winona. It was a little bit dark and loud but not overwhelmingly so. I found a spot at the bar and ordered the mimosa to start. I then opted to try their hamburger and fries. The hamburger was excellent. It was cooked to perfection and went well with the second drink I ordered: The Mrs Sippi raspberry ale from a local brewery. I highly recommend it. I was not a fan of the fries. They were overcooked and just not very good. If I went back I would definitely go with a different side. The service was a little bit slow but everyone was super nice and friendly. If I lived in the area, I think I would come here often because I genuinely had a nice time. read more

On my Mc 929 - their take on a Big Mac, the onions were pretty powerful and the sauce a bit heavy so the burger itself got lost a bit and came apart before I could finish. Owner is a dick to his customers. Literally saw him kicked out a customer for being "drunk" When he only had two beers. An older couple came in later and was having difficulty figuring out what they want to eat and he was visibly agitated and frustrated with them and was rushing/pressuring them to order because it was busy. An owner who doesn't take care of his customers and kick them out for nothing isn't somebody who should be running a restaurant! He's also very short and rude to his staff. Saw the great reviews for this tavern that was pretty close to our hotel in Winona so we drove over for dinner. It is tucked away in a neighborhood in the midst of houses - guess zoning is pretty loose here. They have a small side patio that we opted to dine on. The inside was fine but it was a lovely evening so why sit indoors... The friendly waitress grabbed us a couple of beers and then we ordered our mains. My wife got the BLT which she said was very good. I ordered the 1/2 pound of boneless wings which were also very good but a very small serving for the price (yes I know everything has gone up but still..). When I saw the small size of the wing order I immediately ordered some of their mini corn dogs (an appetizer). They were quite good and a reasonable serving for the price. If we were back in town I would probably check out some other places - it wasn't bad but not as great as some of the reviews lead you to believe. read more

I absolutely love this place. I come here with my grandma sometimes and lemme tell ya, the food is amazing, the service is great, and it's got a nice industrial feel without going overboard. Cheeseburgers here are astoundingly good. The fries, well seasoned and battered, are thrown into simmering oil and fried to perfection. My taste buds were transported to a place of unique spices and flavor found nowhere else nearby. The wait staff are kind, compassionate, and very friendly. Plenty of good vibes to go around! Decided to give this pub a try. Service was excellent, but that was about it. Hubby had a burger with an egg on it and I had the Paul Bunyan...burger with pepper Jack cheese, maple syrup grilled onions and bacon on Texas toast. Well, the bread was hard and dry on the corners, the cheese was definitely NOT pepper Jack...more of a gooey American white cheese that you get at Subway, couldn't taste any maple syrup at all, and the bacon was like gross...hard and cold. Should have sent it back, but just noshed for a minute and then tried the fries. Wow! Seriously disgusted...l what looked like crispy fires was actually hard or limpy fries that bent over when you picked them up. This meal was served at like 3:00 so no one was hardly there. $39.00 later and I paid the bill and high tailed it out of there. Definitely skip this place...doesn't deserve the 4.1 star review. The hand cut fries and hand made burger were some of the best I've ever had. We had a couple of beers that were recommended by the owners and they were dead on with their suggestions based on the description of our preferences. Waitress was thorough efficient and very responsive. Water with a lemon no problem; little surprised it was a bottled water but loved it. Perhaps offering a glass would also have been good. Our table tried a variety of burgers which we were all pleased with although we somehow missed the cheeseburgers are exactly that cheese and burger, so if you want any veggies order Cali style to get lettuce and tomato. Fries were excellent, as well as the small salad which we ordered with the burger. Buns are from a local bakery and delicious. They even had local brews on tap and cheese curds which we enjoyed trying since we're from out of state. Some (not all) of the waitstaff/cooks are rude, and they tend to spend more time talking at the bar than waiting on customers.
