Had the Hogfather burger, and it was just straight up not good. The pulled pork on it was some of the worst pulled pork I've ever had. Plus the chipotle mayo is a bad choice for this combo, maybe go with bbq sauce. The hand cut fries were excellent however. Stopped in for food after touring the rotary lights! The chicken sandwich was fantastic however it was a little hard to eat, I piece of chicken was really think, I really had to smash it down. I would maybe suggest cutting it to be a little thinner and then the fries were great just a bit salty, but I wouldn't change those. Our waiter was on top of it! When I visit family in the La Crosse area, I order their food items via one of the food delivery services. I always thought it was OK...nothing to write home about. Finally, I went to the establishment, and I liked its look and feel. The staff, while not overly friendly, acknowledged me. The bar was clean, and the drink and beer options were good. Some of the food items worth mentioning: the double Smash is solid and worthy if you want one of their more "plainer" burgers. The Defibrillator is really, really good! This burger is a lot of food, and unless you are under 25 and a glutton, I'd share this one. It is about 2/3 lbs of burger. The other part of the equation for this burger is that it has chicken fried bacon in it. Batter-fried bacon? Who'd have thunk? I didn't look, but if this is not on the appetizer menu, it should be. Cheese curds are solid and best eaten hot...of course The beer menu is OK. you will get a few stalwart craft breweries intermixed with your standard corporate beers. read more

I came in town to visit my cousin and she brought me to one of her favorite burger and fry places in lacrosse. They had three or four different different kinds of cheese curds, all reasonably priced. the classic ones that made them famous are huge! They are about the size of a golf ball! Homemade ranch was great. I had a classic burger with a lettuce bun. I really appreciate that they have so many bun choices to swap out. Cons: masks are not enforced nor requested, social distancing is not enforced, nor requested, staff did not seem to sanitize between customers, and a longer wait for a table than was told. Overall, a good experience and I will go again. 5 stars for the food and service, -1 star for the lack of Covid-19 precautions. Pros and cons to this place. Pros: The beer selection; a nice variety of wheat, malty, hoppy, and heavy. Cheese curds; lots of variety and you'll find a favorite. Lots of variety of burgers and toppings. Good service. Cons: The combo curds don't always include the fair version -- the batter is supposed to sweeter so it would be noticeably different. The normal Ellsworth curds are battered and cooked in a huge lump so there's work to getting just one or two curds to eat. The French fries I had yesterday looked brown and cooked but were actually raw inside; pretty gross. And disturbing; the brown color must be a dye unrelated to cooking the fries. My request for a medium cooked burger was denied, and I got well well done; someone in my group got a medium burger but didn't order one. I'd rate my visit with 0 stars. I waited a half hour for my food to come out and both meals were cold to the touch, my burger was also raw. I am 9 months pregnant, I had asked that my burger be well done for that exact reason. There is absolutely no reason that food is coming out cold and raw when it took 30 minutes to make. We got to the restaurant at 11:15 so it wasn't that busy when we got there. We could never get our waiter's attention because he was so busy chatting with his coworkers. I would have liked the opportunity to have allowed you to make it right but it's hard to do so when the waiter can't be bothered to pay attention to his tables. For the amount of money I spent on 2 meals I expected to actually be able to enjoy my food, instead I left hungry because as a 9 month pregnant woman I can't eat a RAW burger. read more

Hit or miss... I've been to this location 3 times. First time everything was great, the last 2 the food was awful. It was like the grease was old. Well seasoned and cooked burger. My server didn't bomb the burger for me; that joy was left to me. This burger and fries could easily be the only meal you eat all day. I definitely needed a nap afterwards. The Bloody was your classic bloody. Cheese, pickle, beef stick, celery garnishes. Flavorful salt rim. They play it safe on the heat so it's sure to please most people. The service gets a 4.5 overall. I was seated in the bar area so my main server was the bartender, and she sometimes was caught up making drinks for the restaurant, but the manager and other servers all pitched in to run drinks or food in great coordination. There seemed to be a good amount of distancing, but I was there for lunch, and it wasn't too busy. Unsure what it looks like during dinner or a game. Being back in Wisconsin means limited eats for me, so when driving around with some friends trying to find something to eat we stumbled across this place. I'm trying to stick with no meat challenge so I tried the beyond burger jalapeño smoked cheddar burger and sweet potato bleu fries and it was actually pretty good. I will say their cheese curds are huge and actually really good. We also ordered the fried pickles and those were hot and fresh and so good. FAREWELL GRIZZLY'S....HELLO MILWAUKEE BURGER COMPANY. I had no idea Grizzly's Restaurant was going out of business! To my surprise, I noticed the new Milwaukee Burger Company a couple of days ago, and couldn't believe what I saw. My partner and I decided to try it out and started off with an appetizer. We got their cheese curds which were HUGE and it came with a ranch dipping sauce. The dipping sauce seemed a bit week and watered down, but the cheese curds alone were out of this world!!! I ordered the Hickory Cheddar Burger which had fried onion straws, bacon, Wisconsin cheddar cheese, and BBQ sauce. I instantly loved this burger and can't recall the last time I had a really great burger! My partner got the build your own burger which he just chose American Cheese and BBQ sauce. He said his was amazing too. I'm so glad we chose to eat here because I am always up for trying new place. I did get sweet potato fries for the side and I did not care for then at all!!!! Overall good burgers, great service and love the popcorn. I think my co-worker's Fried Pickles are over-priced for the small amount received. We arrived 11:15 on Saturday, packed with 20 minutes wait when we left at 12:25. Glad they are doing well. The only issue I have is fries were under fried, greasy and soggy. The fried curds my other coworker ordered were also very greasy. Either the oil wasn't hot enough yet or they just try to push the food out too fast. But I think the later. My fries were barely warm. The similar sized curds explodes with flavor and shoots Culver's out the water and into a puddle of nothingness. It's a creamy texture with the cheese bite we love. The batter is hand done, making each one crispy and textured nicely. The other curds were a pleasantly and surprisingly BIG. A cube of fried cheese essentially. The food was amazingly delicious and there was a great waiter that we had. I got the curd burger which was cheese curds and a burger. It is a pretty chill vibe and it has a bar. It was pretty cheap and it also had popcorn so you could have that while you wait for your food. The only complaint that I had is that the food is pretty greasy but it was not so greasy that I couldn't eat it. Overall I would recommend this if your like good burgers for a cheap price. read more
