Since this is one of my all time favorites I decide this is a must concert (no matter how crazy Scott Weiland is I think his voice is like butter). So 10a I click the link from Area 93.3 and it opens Ticketmaster and much to my dismay - no KTCL presale box!! Nooooo! So I shoot off an email to the station, just as an FYI. Much to my surprise, in less than a couple minutes I got a response from Nick Cage. Color me impressed (what color is impressed anyways? I want to say purple for some reason). Long story short, he got me squared away. 5 Stars for Nick Cage! Now I have my STP tix! Other than that, it is one of my go-to radio stations. No. 1 on the ole dial. I wish they would play a little more obscure stuff and not repeat so many songs, I mean I like Muse, but do I need to hear them 10xs a day? Still, a good spot to linger on the dial for awhile. And good response time from their DJs!

Anyways, my Instagram was hacked and apparently someone sent a bunch of messages to my followers. I think it's extremely tacky, rude and unprofessional to not receive one response from Denver's "biggest" radio station. What a total letdown. Leave The Mile High City.

Apparently I'd been living under a rock since its debut on Halloween 2011. But I am tuned in now and just loving it! The station's format is right up my alley. They feature new music from both local and national indie artists, plus tons of awesome tunes from all of my favorite bands from all eras - old, new and in-between. One minute they're playing a brand new song from Jack White's just-released solo album and the next it's an old Johnny Cash number. And they do a great job of mixing up the playlist so you're not hearing the same songs over and over again. Rock on!

Maybe I miss Steve but I've been listening to Slacker and Steve...and now just Slacker for over 15…read moreyears. I used to think they were funny but day to day, things got more and more emotional and personal so the joking kind of felt more like hazing and shaming others. Clearly, none of them should be giving advice about relationships and parenting...or life in general. I recall hearing Slacker say how much work it takes to put the show together which is why they have to have 4 people on the show. Seriously? I listen to other shows that have two or three and don't tend to flounder through segments, get off topic and pretty much spiral out of control over controversial rankings of Lions...yes...lions folks...way to go Tony from Frosted Flakes. So, I could pick away at all of the segments they do throughout the short time they do it in because here's what I have stumbled upon in the past couple of years that many others probably know as well...the repeats. From 3pm until 5:30 ish, it's all live. Then, for the next hour and a half, we get to listen to it all again. I'm sure the premise is so people that were not off work yet can enjoy what was missed but they don't get the chance to call in. Why would they attempt to report on any kind of news? Unless something brand new had happened when the show starts, everything else has been blurted out by tv and radio all morning long leaving topics of "news" to be scarce and not note worthy. Though I appreciate some of the jokes and banter between the folks, they are not a far cry from the morning morons and their level of intelligence.

You get a taste of what our liberal friends are doing and Mr. Brown's responses. His take is logical, educational and very often humorous. It is a much more entertaining way to understand the issues of the day than watching the late night talk shows, MS/NBC or CNN.

And some of the shows repeat; midnight, Thursday it's the same old Dee Alexander broadcast repeated month after month. You'd think they could find new material. I love the station's balanced musical programming of styles and genres, and their DJ's are often informative and amusing. I also find Bret's editorial comments about music and other serious topics to be balanced, sensitive and often satirical in a positive way. The station's Studio C Program is a wonderful resource that I could praise endlessly in a separate review. I also love the way they combine new and old music from different decades, which leads me to my one big complaint: Every DJ--seemingly every day--plays virtually the same 15 or so old hits by famous veteran artists, all of whom are pioneers or gifted artists I truly love. However, I'm getting so tired of hearing the same songs every day, and I sincerely wish that they would play deeper cuts from these same artists and/or the same albums/CD's. Please join me in my little campaign by calling or emailing KBCO so that they can become the great radio station that they deserve to be.
