I booked the lodge on line and thought it would meet my needs. Well, it did not. At $90 plus a night in Glenwood, Arkansas, you would expect something pretty good. It wasn't. First of all, the guest lodge is 2 miles down a dirt road from the clubhouse and front desk. So if you need another key, or if there is a problem you either have to drive back to the desk OR call and hope they can send someone to you to help. If you lock yourself out and do not have a cell phone you are SOL as there is no one around to help. Second, when I drove over to the lodge (I was assigned the "older" building which appeared to be a converted house) and let myself in, the woman who happened to be there cleaning informed me that the water was not drinkable because there had been a water main break in town and there was a boil order. Funny thing was that the two people that checked me in did not mention that. So this meant a trip into town to get a gallon of water and a bag of ice. If she hadn't been working when I got there I could very well be listing dysentery as one of my complaints. Third, the common kitchen area REEKED of old cooking odors and general mustiness. Fourth, even though I was only one of a couple of rooms occupied, they gave me a depressing, dark old room that was basically at the basement level with a high window that looked out at a brick wall. Fifth, the "gazebo" area that had the hot tub was dirty and furnished with broken and musty furniture. I didn't dare lift the lid to the hot tub and check it out. Sixth, as I checked out I mentioned to the man working that I was less than enthused about my accommodations. He chuckled and advised me to "stay in the newer building next time." There will be no next time. I do not in any way shape or form recommend this place as a place to stay over night unless you plans are to play golf, get drunk, and crash.

Golf course is gorgeous with many scenic holes. Went to clubhouse for dinner and it was also good. Husband and son got the steak special and I had salmon. We stayed at the Greens Lodge on the property. Rooms are clean and very big. Also has large group gathering area. Would be good place to host golf outings with groups of friends.

It is not all about the superficial, and just as much about the changes that happen on the inside. I've tried a lot of online programs and have become quickly discouraged because I know I'm never going to look like a swimsuit model or figure model like they do in the other programs. Many of those programs have leaders that have never been overweight or struggled with weight loss at all. This one is different, the leaders have been where I am, are my age, and have real life experience & real bodies. It's ok that we're not going to be in Victoria's Secret, we are strong, confident & happy with who we are! Would recommend to anyone trying to get stronger & healthier!

The reason lifting shoes have soles that do not compress is because you really don't want any give between your feet and the floor--like lifting on a matress--it just robs you of a little more energy transfer. It also makes it hard to do micro adjustments with your ankles after you unrack the bar. But oh well. I really wanted to use the Nautilus rack--no carpet, but neither were there any hooks to hold the barbell. If they were laying around somewhere, I couldn't find them. They do not have a deadlift platform, nor do they have bumper plates. But for the most part, it was workable. It seemed pretty clean, and the weights were nicer and not mismatched, like some other AF's.

Now this place has the equipment, but it's in dire need of a renovation. The power racks have this weird bar hanger that has two positions. And when I grabbed the bar it slips forward and bothered my shoulder. I'm not sure why they're like that but they are. They are missing some bands to complete the set, and the bands that are there are broken, mismatched, and not kept up well. The entire place had their stuff recovered in this tan color which is fine, but they didn't upgrade the handles on the dip machine. The cable system is pretty best up and the weights aren't accurate at all. The 50 felt like a 25 at other gyms. The 100 like a 70. It's needing replacement. The cardio machine I used is the amt, and the right side leg has a hitch in it and needs to be serviced. Overall? I dunno, there's another anytime 10 minutes away that I will check out over this one. I just don't think I'll be back.
