It was a place where used needles and comdoms congregated in the stairwells,hanging around as they are want with puddles of urine and the heady stench of weed (I know this as I had to clean said stairwells when I worked in the multi storey car park that sat a top of the staion,and many a Saturday morning was spent handling the atrocities). Anyone who viewed the old place was left with the feeling that the Architect either hated his job or his life (Or he was Hieronymus Bosch). Anyway history lesson over,as late last year we got a new bus station,one that has doors so the wind doesn't blow through it,one that has screens that tell you when the next bus is (or isn't) due,one that has a cash machine,and one that at the moment doesn't smell like a Metal Festivals toilets. At the end of the day it is only a bus station,but unless you ever had to use the old one,you won't have a clue what i'm wittering on about,but believe me,it really was as bad as i've made out. Burnley Bus Station in the town centre is a pretty small bus station, but it is both clean and…read moremodern, with decent facilities including a newsagents and toilets. It is operated by Burnley Bus Company, on behalf of Lancashire County Council who own the station, it is mainly served by Transdev brands with limited services provided by First West Yorkshire. It does get pretty cold inside the bus station, it would have been nice to see automated screens on the doors which show when the next bus would depart, rather than standard old paper showing the bus times when the bus was allowing customers to board, I like how the Witchway buses did say when they would depart, but this was only a couple of minutes before when the bus was allowing customers on anyway. Staff around the station seemed friendly, typical Transdev. I didn't particularly like the drop-off area, which is a small old-fashioned hut style bus station, just outside the main station building. 3* - Pretty decent bus station for a small town, limited connections onto other public transport services from here though.

I like Rawtenstall Bus Station, it is a modern and new Bus Station, operated by Transdev, it's in…read morethe town centre, it is opposite the Lidl Supermarket and the Post Office. The strangest part I find about this bus station is that if you're heading into Rawtenstall from Manchester on the X43 Witchway, after getting off the motorway, the bus ends up doing a circle and going back on its' self to continue into Burnley, I did notice the roads and pedestrianisation to not be too great in Rawtenstall as a whole and I guess that is the only way they could construct the bus station in a good location for the town centre. Inside, it still feels new, they have a small amount of seating, as well as a cafe (currently closed) and information point, for such a small town, the bus station overall is impressive and while the number of services is minimal, it still offers many services around Lancashire and Greater Manchester into towns such as Burnley, Accrington and Bury. I like how they have individual branding for each bus stand, to match the individual branding they have for each bus route, such as the Witchway and Mainline buses. The Transdev app for some reason didn't recognise the Manchester bound Witchway platform, meaning I couldn't view live bus times for this platform when it worked fine for every other platform, they did have a "next bus" electronic sign above the door, this seemed mostly accurate but not as accurate as the app. 4* - Clean and modern bus station, well suited to a small town.

I'm struggling to fault The Burnley Bus Company, which is owned and run by Transdev, they do a…read morefantastic job of offering reliable, frequent buses in and around Burnley, an area which would otherwise be left behind and be an almost impossible nightmare to travel around, due to irregular train times and poor pedestrian streets/pavements. They are going above and beyond to fuel and support the passenger experience, which includes investing millions of pounds on brand new buses for the X43 - Witchway, the buses were already comfortable and impressive but they just had to do one-up on themselves, I hate being on buses for a long period of time, especially with their Manchester - Burnley service taking way over an hour, but they find a way to make that journey enjoyable including - A mini-library on the bus, where you can even take buses home and return them on your next visit - Free wi-fi, the wi-fi isn't too fast but at a time where most other major bus companies have removed it due to either cost or COVID reasons, the fact they're maintaining a wi-fi is great - Mobile phone charging, you can charge your phone here through the USB charging or even the wireless charging at certain tables - Tables upstairs or at the back of the bus downstairs, making the journey much more comfortable again. - Orange front of the bus and lights going around a bus which is predominantly black if there was a limousine version of the bus it'd be the Witchway. I also like the stop announcements which don't just announce the stop, but they also announce the route along the way, for example, it gives you a warning before the bus enters the motorway at Prestwich as obviously it won't be able to stop for a while until it heads into Rawtenstall, it also announces when arriving into city/town centres, I've also noticed this on other Burnley Bus Company services too, such as the Mainline services which connect Burnley with a huge chunk of East Lancashire including Clitheroe. The frequency of the buses is still pretty good, buses regularly run on-time and never seem too overcrowded, which is handy especially during the current pandemic, where many operators have cut their services down to a poor level. I also like how different bus services have a different bus lively, but they all seem to stand out and look good inside and out, buses are as clean as they can be, bearing in mind they don't have cleaners on board, another COVID precaution is cleaners getting on/off the bus to sanitise everything at stations along the route, on the X43, someone got on at both Rawtenstall (Mid-way point) and Burnley (terminating point). The drivers always seem friendly too, it seems there are idiots who work for every bus company who are rude, clueless or even abusive, but I've never experienced a driver from Burnley Bus Company to be anything but friendly and eager to help. 5* - Empowering East Lancashire, not just connecting them into Greater Manchester and parts of Yorkshire, but providing a comfortable experience with friendly drivers, all in all, a great company, I just wish they offered more services which served Manchester.

I live in Baxenden and my friend lives in Hapton. The next day I realised I had lost my purse so telephoned kings taxis. Mr Hussain had found it in the taxi and kindly dropped it off for me. Kings send a black cab and assist me in getting the chair into the back, they drive carefully and offer full assistance in getting us out at the other end. When ever i have called this firm they have arrived at the time they say they will, have always been polite and nothing is too much trouble. when I call them to collect us from town when we have finished shopping they again are always on time and incedibly helpful, well done Kings
