I awoke on my birthday feeling jetlagged as hell, and not particularly enthused to be celebrating. It was a true stroke of genius then that my little lady had organized for our day to start at ABFAB Spa & beauty. Groggily walking through the doors, I was welcomed by a clean and inviting space that had me feeling all kinds of cozy in no time. We were escorted through to the waiting area, given slippers and dressing gowns, and told to get our clothes off and head to the next waiting area. It was here that we reclined and drank green tea whilst listening to the soothing music, intended to take customers to a state of relaxation that we were soon in. We were then taken into the massage room, where we received hour-long full body massages, complete with hot stone treatments. The masseurs were fantastic, and when I told them they could go as hard as they liked, had my sore muscles feeling like jelly. The hot stone part of the treatment was great too, the stones rolling down your back and warming you all over. Afterwards, we wandered back in to the green tea room and chilled out a little before re-dressing and facing the world again. We left smiling, and although the jetlag was still there, we really didn't care.

I don't think being pampered is ever a bad thing and at Santika Day Spa you are in for one hell of…read morea pampering! I had a one hour massage here ($90) and that was enough to have me floating out the door with a smile on my face. The service here is fabulous and the staff try to make every appointment like an experience. Make sure you are either early or on time though as if you are late they simply cut your appointment shorter. As well as massage they offer: - body wraps - facials - pedispa treatments - eyelash tinting - eyebrow waxing - face waxing Plus a variety of spa and body rituals that can last up to four hours. These are obviously more expensive (think $285 for 2 hours and 45 minutes), but they are extremely popular in groups.

Upon walking in, you're greeted with a rather serene and softly lit waiting area which seeps warmth, a gentle aromatic fragrance and firm yet comfortable seating -- as a visually impaired individual, the transition in lighting is a momentary hindrance, but the attending service are truly empathetic and are happy to guide you down the first flight of steps into the waiting area. This lighting is so calmly dim, in fact, that it may also be comfortable for those who live with lighting triggered anxiety. Well worth checking it out. We saw Catherine (spelling?), who exudes hospitality and warmth, making the initial welcoming into Santika very pleasing. If it's your first time, you will be required to fill out a small information form -- nothing invasive -- which is handled with a level of casual professionalism which makes the process an easy and comfortable task. It'll take you about five minutes, leaving plenty of time to drink in the surroundings and relax. You are given the option of paying up front or after the massage, both of which are dealt without any notion of your being a 'number' or a 'commission', which is pleasant to experience. There is an expected (and very minor) waiting time -- give yourself 10 minutes of waiting -- which seemed solely dependant on the number of staff working on the day (of which there was only one), but this didn't detract from the pleasant experience in the slightest. I booked my girlfriend in for a relaxation massage, which is now their one and apparently only form of treatment, for the great price of $90 for an hour. The treatment was a hot oil body and scalp massage, complete with hair cap, warm towels and an attentive masseuse. The treatment room was apparntly a little chilly, and the masseuse wore a rubber apron and latex gloves (which neither of us were used to seeing, but part of which may be ud eot the amount of oil used per treatment). Overall, girlfriend came out feeling relaxed, happy, feeling soft as butter and stating that another booking sometime in the future would be greatly appreciated.

Close to home, nestled into the corner of Springvale road is Endota Forest Hill…read more With ample parking, Endota Forest Hill is a good place to wind down after a busy day or even before though the price is something that holds me back from going everyday. I have eczema attacks and there's nothing like a spa treatment to calm everything down. Massage: Their relaxation massage puts me right to sleep! Not sure if it is because of the relaxing smells in Endota, the music or the skilled hands. The remedial can cause aching however your muscles will thank you in the end. I have also tried the hot rock massage however would not do this again...just felt like someone was drawing on my back with an annoying piece of smooth warm rock. Facials: I have only tried the endota organic facial but enjoyed it so much that I have all the products at home to do my own facials whenever I choose. Love: wild orange spritzer, fig n sugar cleaner, rosehip oil (life saver for eczema), bush honey & macadamia face cleanser. Overall, I prefer their products to their spa skills/service.

The towel resting over my eyes was used to wipe the therapists hands thereby pulling the towel off my face in a very hap hazard clunky fashion. The roller chair she used to move around the bed was not carefully rolled around the room but rather allowed to bang into the bed making the entire experience (and for hours afterwards) frustrating and not relaxing at all. The therapist really needs to choose a different career!
