I placed an order online from stokestropicals.com for some plants back at the beginning of January…read more The transaction went through on my credit card but I never received an email confirmation or information from Stokes Tropical confirming that the order had been placed. After about two and a half weeks went by, I contacted the merchant via their website contact form to inquire about the status of my order, mentioning to them that I had never received a confirmation email or any other evidence for that matter to let me know that this merchant existed apart from having a website to place orders. Another two weeks went by with no response from Stokes or merchandise. After thirty days without contact from Stokes and without receiving the goods I had purchased, I filed a dispute through my credit card company. My credit card company refunded me the money. Thinking this woeful adventure with a shady online business was behind me, I went about my life. Magically, however, two weeks and some days after I filed my dispute through the credit card company, I received a notice from Stokes Tropicals that my order had shipped. It's mighty curious that over 45 days after my order was placed and more than two weeks after I filed dispute with my credit card company for not having received the merchandise, suddenly Stokes Tropicals rises from the dead like a corpse in a zombie flick to let me know my merchandise was just dropped off at FedEx. To date, I have never received a response to the contact form I filled out on their website nor have a I received a confirmation email that my order was placed -- so why would they suddenly find the energy to contact me now, long after my desire to receive anything from this business has ebbed into the waste bin of history? Sorrowfully insufficient customer communications and poor business practices are no excuse. I will decline this merchandise should it ever actually end up on my door step, and I most assuredly will avoid ever doing any business with Stokes Tropicals again.
